We finally tried this place and it wasn't bad. Most of the people working there are really nice and helpful. The chip lady brings chips quick. The queso is pretty good. We ordered the shrimp tacos and they were yummy! One thing that was gross was the guy at the door/register kept chewing his nails and spitting them on the floor or just throwing them on the floor. The pinto bean is one of my top favorites. I absolutely love the tamales here and the tamale plate has large portions so you will never go away hungry afterwards. The staff at the pinto bean goes over and above, trying to make you comfortable and does everything in their power to make your dining experience the best. There is no downside to this restaurant. I haven't gone to Pinto Bean in quite a while but todays visit was good. The food was enjoyed by all. Super Bowl pre game was on the tv but I just ignored it. The chicken fried steak was a little small but tasty. Coffee is served is such a small cup. Needless to say, it was difficult to keep my coffee filled. Passing through Victoria and this place caught our eye. We both ordered a combination plate. We thought the portion would be small because the price was very affordable. We were surprised how big the food portion's were. Normally we can finish our meals, but this time had to take it to go. Very generous portions! We went to the Pinto Bean for the first time this afternoon. My son got the beef fajitas with charro beans, rice, guacamole, and salad. I ordered 2 small tripa (beef tripe) tacos with a side of Charro beans. Most places give you a different cut of meat when serving fajitas. This place actually served fajita meat and it was Delish. The tripa tacos were good but I would of liked them a little crisper. Overall, everything was excellent including the service. The waitresses regularly asked if we needed anything and the portions were spot on. If craving Tex Mex while in Victoria, this is the place to go. read more

Not a big crowd, took 20 minutes for tacos and they brought it to me cold. I sent it back and they said they'd get me new food. It came back and the beans were black and greasy. The were refried beans, which I'd ordered pinto beans. Anyway, the food is not good, the salsa was just runny. It was very disappointing! Will not go back!!!! read more

I enjoy the Food, the Staff and Parking at the "Pinto Bean." The Bean does its best to give the combination of the menu for each customer's palate. We were driving through Victoria looking for a different kind of place to eat and the name of the restaurant was different. We pulled in and upon entering were a bit confused as to seat ourselves or be seated...we had to ask. We found a table and had three waitstaff approach. One carrying menus, the other with chips and salsa the other one ???. We made our decision and had to determine which waitperson was waiting our table. I asked the chip lady who apparently did not speak English who did find someone to find our waitperson - yes that's a bit much I know. Our food was mediocre at best but with a name of Pinto Bean you would think they would specialize in pinto beans. Not so. Just another Mexican restaurant chain type location. read more

Salsa got smaller because people aren't finishing the salsa that's what the waitress said, the bacon shrimp look burn and oily, the beans tasted ok but it was little hard and burn, the positions size, its like pinto beans down sizing the side and waitress is slow and doesn't pay attention to customer. read more

This is our go to Mexican place. Usually fast friendly service and the food is great 95% of the time. The to-go service is often not as good. I usually get the deluxe burrito but the have recently updated the menu so it's now called the burrito a la mexicana. It's filled with carne guisada and the topped with chili and queso onions and tomatoes. My wife got the street tacos and really enjoyed them. Good sized portions fair prices and above average food and service. We visit generally once a month sometimes more. read more

The Pinto Bean was recommended by my sister-in-law as a solid place for Tex-Mex and she was spot on!! My party order 3 enchiladas (one chicken, cheese and beef) covered in chili con carne and 3 tamales. My daughter ordered an Angie's plate (2 beef enchiladas, 3 quesadillas with rice and beans). We also ordered a side of guacamole to eat with the complimentary chips/salsa. Our food was served quickly and we were eager to start eating until we realized the small scoop of guacamole on the plate was actually the side order of guacamole. What a disappointment!! Food was great until the cockroach ran across the table and attempted to jump into my wife's plate. We had just started eating when the bug made its appearance. My wife knocked it off of the table with her napkin. Then she noticed another cockroach on the floor next to the one she had swept off the table. My wife and I spilt the deluxe beef fajitas. The quail, shrimp and beef were all very good. I liked the quail. It was moist and well seasoned. My wife loved the shrimp and we both liked the beef. Le sigh, where do I begin? My boyfriend's family took us here because they said it was a decent place. I ordered the beef Enchiladas Rancheras & a margarita. The margarita was decent for the price. The chips were brown & the hot sauce was ok, no spice. I did like the complimentary queso but let's move on because the meal, bad. The quantity was large & it looked good, key word: LOOKED. The enchiladas were greasy & there was a bone in the meat. The beans were just plain odd. The rice was good I guess. The guacamole was NASTY. My whole meal was incredibly bland. Love this place, been eating at pinto bean for 18 years and it is only getting better. The sit down restaurant is small but service was pretty good. The star is the food though. Delicious tex mex breakfast that filled your tummy without emptying out your pocket book. Super reasonable prices and great food. If you have never eaten there please get the large taco. Any large taco. I promise you only need one. For under 5 bucks...Super bargain. Did i say i love this place? Caveat...Parking lot gets pretty full so sometimes be prepared to park a little bit away. This is a 2nd location. I ate here right after they opened and found myself liking the old "hole in the wall" place better. The new store is much cleaner, bigger and better appointed. I like eating here but sometimes the old he in the wall places just feel good. The food is wonderful here and up to par with the old store, now being open for a while. Everything on the menu is great so no need to suggest anything, order what you like you will not go wrong here. Be sue to order Salsa Picosa to go with your food.
