Took my wife and brother there for dinner last night. The waitress was horrible. A young woman with tatts and glasses, never came to our table we tried to ask for things and she would walk off like she did not know we were there. She had no problem playing on her phone and showing others her phone. I ordered shrimp alfredo and my brother ordered chicken alfredo, my wife ordered a steak medium rare. The waitress brought our pasta dishes but never brought the steak. My brother and I finished our food while my wife played games on her phone. The waitress finally came walking close enough we could catch her attention and we asked about the steak and her response was she "don't know I'm not the cook". We told her to check we could hear her arguing with the cook in the kitchen. The waitress brought a steak so rare it was mooing. We just took it home. I am soo disappointed that they would have type of service. We have gone several several times since COVID even and never had bad service. I hope they make some staff changes. read more

avoid - potato skins not crisp and bacon on top not fully cooked. steak and fried shrimp was doable, not the best. the chicken fried chicken had a rubbery texture and seemed over cooked, 2 bites in and decided not to finish it. fries way undercooked. waitress didn't seem to care, so we just paid and moved on. also, found it disturbing that they were dusting the air vent above the salad bar. read more

Found out they had breakfast, so I decided to give it a try. Ordered eggs & bacon with a side of grits. It was very good. Thick cut bacon and eggs were perfect. Grits weren't on the menu, but I asked. I'm glad I did, because they were good. I will be back. Gave it only 4 stars because the place is older and needs to be renovated. read more

I'm ok with this joint. My Mom used to like coming here, and she got me hooked! The salad bar stand is old... but the food within it was fresh. I ordered the quail, I always stick with that... I like the way they cook it! Look, it's an old building that hasn't had an update in a while... so don't come in here expecting a Galleria restaurant, you know better than that. But I have not been disappointed with the food, so I'll be back and have my salad bar and the grilled quail! I likes it!!! Bored with our normal go to spots in EC, we came to Uptown Grill on a Sunday after church. When I saw the salad bar, I was pleasantly surprised and feeling optimistic about the experience. Upon being seated though, I realized we probably weren't in for a good experience. In our section, ours was the only clean table. The rest were still full of dirty, fly covered dishes that were left over from breakfast hours prior. We placed our order with a friendly server, one of us for the lemon pepper chicken and one for the blackened chicken, and headed to the salad bar. Salad bar was just ok, nothing special. Stale dinner rolls. About 3 minutes after we had placed our order, our food arrived. No way could our chicken have been freshly prepared in that amount of time. The food looked disgusting, smelled disgusting, and tasted disgusting. It was inedible. We took one bite, paid our bill, and got out of there. Going home with no lunch was a better option than eating that food. We won't be back. read more

Stopped in here after trying two other breakfast places on a Sunday around 1045. One place was closed the other was a gas station which consisted of tacos under a warmer. It was after 1030, we were 3 adults and two starving kids. The waitress yelled back to the cook to ask if they were still serving breakfast and she said sure. The breakfast was as good as if not better than what you'd get at one of those chain breakfast diners. I had pancakes with sausage and eggs that was average, my husband had what he said were some very good Migas and even my super picky sister was pleased with her chicken fried steak and eggs. Even the picky eater kids cleaned their plates and the biscuits were homemade and fantastic! Only four stars because the food did take over 20 minutes to come out, but then again we walked in after they had stopped serving breakfast. Excellent service as well. Over all a good experience. Would eat here again for breakfast. read more

Uptown grills best quality for me is the salad bar. The food can be disappointing sometimes but I've learned to stick to the chicken fried steak and fries. Its so good! My husband says someone there knows how to cook a really great steak but I wouldn't know because I never order one. He always seems to enjoy it though. The staff seems to have been the same people forever! But they're friendly most of the time unless they're busy. Its a pretty average place. Nothing fancy or special I guess. I do wish they would fix the restrooms though... My daughters always afraid when I have to take her to the potty! Haha! Not that big of a deal though. read more

Will never eat here again. I asked if the CFS was fresh made and not processed. The waitress said it was made there. That was the worst hand breaded CFS I have ever ate. This restaurant is my favorite spot here in El Campo!!! The service is always GREAT, the staff is extremely helpful and nice. The food is always fresh and outstanding compared to any other restaurant in El Campo/Wharton County area. I love how the food is at an amazing reasonable price nothing is overpriced and the food is always marvelous, it makes you think you're at a high end steakhouse in downtown Houston where the food is outrageously expensive but not here at Uptown Grill! About 1:00 PM, with just a few customers there, waitress was slow from the start. She became less available and we finally got our food after about 45 minutes only to find that it was completely cold. We send the food back and then the manager came to our table only to put up a strong argument that the food was still hot. We told him that we just wanted to pay him and leave. We had eaten three salads and the bill was $26. The complaint here is for the unforgivably bad service and then adding insult to injury by the manager. Love the quite home town feel, very friendly, Salad bar is very nice, Love the portions always have some for leftovers. No it is not always the cleanest but this is no extravagant fancy place, want Fancy look else where. You want good food, friendly service, hometown feel this place is it! read more
