We stopped here for a late lunch around 2pm on a Sunday after finding out the one restaurant we wanted to eat at was closed on Sunday...I guess they did not update their hours on their website....:-( Pimienta means Pepper so I knew it was going to be a place with some spicy food choices and in fact it was a Jamaican inspired place. Once we sat down, we were told there was a QR code on the table where we could open the menu and order...all the ordering is mobile based...nothing is order via human interaction. I ordered a Brown Stew Chicken and my husband got the Crossroads Cheeseburger. My husband ordered the cheeseburger medium with lettuce and no tomatoes...and the Mac and cheese side. When the burger arrived it was bloody red, so it was medium rare rather than medium and there was no lettuce. We asked for the waiter to fix which they did. The burger came back within minutes the way it was supposed to be...it was a good burger but nothing spectacular... My chicken dish was really good, not as moist as it could had been (or as I have had at other Jamaican places) but it was very tasty. The rice and beans was flavorful and the ripe plantains were nice and sweet. At the time to pay, you again, get on the app and pay with a credit card...a 20% service fee is immediately added to the bill, to cover tip and other fees. Not a bad place for a meal. We saw a sign where they have happy hour on Monday to Fridays from 4-6pm and you get a Red Stripe draft for $4.

Maybe this was a mistake on my part by ordering through uber vs going to the restaurant but a few issues to state. 1. I ordered rice and peas and received jasmine rice no peas 2. For 28$ i only received what is basically 2 oxtails they are so thin and small as seen in the picture 3. The coco bread omg hard as a rock literally un eatable No the food was mostly tasty i will be fair but for the money i would not eat here again

I hadn't been here in a few years, and decided to go again! It was a Friday night around 645 and it was empty. Completely empty, aside from the employees. We got to pick whatever table we wanted, which i looked, but some of the chairs were VERY wonky and we had to switch tables twice before we were greeted. One of the tables also needed to be wiped down, but there were plenty others to choose from. I started with coco bread, which was great! I could have used more butter, they're was less than a Tbl, but I made it work. My curry chicken, again, was great! I got it with white rice and roti, which they are now calling roti skin... that threw me off. I've never heard of roti having skin attached to the title. It was so good, whatever you want to call it, and that's all that really matters! The gentleman who prepared all the food was nice and came out to see if we liked our food and would we like to try his non alcoholic drinks he made from scratch. The drinks had way too much sugar for my palate and not enough flavor, but he evocative that they put them on ice and they get watered down. If I could have tasted more raspberry I don't think the sweetness would have seemed so extreme. I will have to make it a habit to come down Caroline a bit farther to eat here more often!

If I say "hole in the wall" it's a term of endearment not a criticism! Pimenta is a diamond with a little bit of the coal still left on it.. Lol My friend drove 35min to get here which threw me off a lil, but the food was worth the hike. Never judge a book by its cover is what my parents told me and never underestimate the under dog.. All the clichés can be used for Pimenta...lol Once you enter, it's truly not a lot to love but once the food comes out.. OMG!!! This is Jamaican Cuisine at its FINEST! Every dish and drinks were outstanding. The oxtails were fall off the bone and loaded with flavor. The shrimp entrée and appetizer could not have been any better! The service was A1 and if I live anywhere near Fredericksburg, Pimenta would be in my heavy rotation! I'm glad my friend had a taste for Jamaican and took me along for the ride..LOL

Preorder took over 2 hours even though there were no customers in the store. Food portions were ridiculously small and over priced at $101 for takeout that was handed over spilled without any effort of fixing the issue! Chicken patty dough was raw! All pictures included below of disappointment! Waste of time and money!

First and foremost, the were greeted with a warm smile by our sweet waitress . Came in before rush hour . We ordered egg rolls as starter and it was delish. I got tequila sunrise and hubs got Long Island ice tea . it was fantastic. I ordered goat curry and my main and sides were jasmine rice and plantains ... this is the first time having Jamaican , so let me just say, I want to hop on flight to Jamaica asap . lol hubs got Jerk chicken with bean rice and cabbage ... it was flavorful and spicy . overall with our experience , we will be back . we stopped by on a whim and sooo glad we did!

I had dinner here with a friend after our original plans fell through & it was delicious! Nice little quaint place. We were greeted by a couple of pleasant young men who sat us right away. The food was delicious!

Great place to enjoy some authentic Jamaican food in FXBG. Nice Jamaican music setting the vibes, with a clean interior. The food came out freakishly fast - which may mean they have popular items like jerk chicken prepped in advance which wasn't a big deal because the food was warm and tasty. Had a "father's punch" cocktail, made by the friendly waiter/bartender Reign - it was awesome. Started with fresh coco bread and for my entree got the jerk chicken, rice and peas, mac and cheese, and cabbage - thoroughly enjoyed all. Will be back again..!

This restaurant was a rare find in this area of Virginia!!! The curry shrimp made me think of home so hard I shed a tear. It was sooooo good. The oxtail was fall off the bone good. The Rasta pasta was everything and more. The restaurant is clean, the staff friendly, the food delicious!!! Highly recommend. Check it out when you get a chance.

The food was good, server was alright. Our food took forever. The kitchen didn't place one of our orders and didn't realize it until everyone had got their food. They took it off the bill and apologized but it still killed the mood. Other than that everything was ok, 100% appreciate our server

I dined here on 7/16/2022. The food was amazing and the flavors authentic. There were four of us we ordered curry chicken, oxtails and jerk shrimp. My cousin order a salad, counch fritters, rice and peas, and a beef patty. We all had cabbage which was sliced and cooked to perfection. It was nice to sit in the window and enjoy a good meal. The restaurant was clean. The staff were very nice and very accommodating. Next time we are in town I can't wait to dine here.

I had just come from a hair appointment down the street and on my way back to my car, I noticed Sangria advertised on the mini sandwich board outside. I'm a HUGE fan of a glass of fruity Sangria on a hot day! The fact that it was Happy Hour with $5 glasses made it even easier to draw me inside!! When I explained this was my first visit, they explained the Curio concept, the various areas for sitting, sipping and gathering as well as the Curio Card process. They even had a small but really intriguing menu of various snacks, from charcuterie to flatbread and even dessert. The menu changes a couple times a month, making me want to plan more visits! The staff offered me sips of each so I could decide on a Sangria flavor. Despite not being a Moscato fan, I chose the Moscato Mule Sangria. It was light, refreshing and had the Moscow Mule flavors with the added sweetness of Moscato wine. I wandered into the cellar to explore more wine offerings and wound up running into fellow educators and their friends I had never met. We chatted like we were catching up and laughed about shared birthdays and teaching!! They invited me to hang with them, but I had to get home for Dog Mom Duty. We exchanged numbers so we could plan another "run-in" downtown SOON! If you haven't visited Curio, I HIGHLY recommend it. Bring a friend, or plan on making a few. Next time, I'll be ordering food with my wine and lingering much longer! Thanks for a great end to my week. See y'all soon! Cheers!

I haven't tried the food here yet, but I'll definitely be coming back for the cinnamon spiced sangria and the mulled wine (must be bought from the bar. Not available on tap.) A must for all wine lovers.

We were seated promptly, no awkward hovering, and our waitress showed up friendly, sharp, and knowing her way around the menu--which is a quality that ought to be listed right next to "clean silverware." We started with the crab and corn chowder, and let me say this right now: the crab was not there for decoration. It announced itself. Big flavor, no apologies, the way crab chowder ought to be. Second round was the smoked salmon salad. Perfect. The salmon was excellent, but that tarragon caper dressing had a way of making you slow down and think about life choices. I would put that dressing on just about anything that didn't move fast enough. For the main event, I chose the scallops, and I am prepared to testify they were as good as any I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, sitting pretty with an aioli that knew its job and did it well. My wife ordered the beef medallions, and I'll admit this with humility: looking back, I may have chosen wrong. Those medallions were expertly prepared and packed with flavor, the kind that makes you reconsider your own plate. We finished with cheesecake and berries. The cheesecake did its part. The berries... well, not every inning is a home run. Fortunately, the wine stepped in like a good relief pitcher and made everything right again. Through it all, the service never slipped. We were treated the way folks ought to be treated when they go out to celebrate something that matters. And that, in my book, counts just as much as what's on the plate. Sorry for the lack of pictures the food and wine kept my attention

I seriously did not expect a restaurant in Fredericksburg to meet our expectations. Service was spot on as well. The beef medallions were tender and cooked perfectly medium. The shrimp were unexceptional next to the medallions. The cauliflower and other veggies with a hint of basil were lovely. The scallops were tender and fresh --so rare these days that we rarely order them. We chose a bottle of wine instead of wine pairings and our server helped us navigate the extensive wine list. The Beaumes de Venise red was a great choice because we are not so fond of white wine. The pot de chocolat and creme brulee were a perfect ending to an outstanding meal.

Around 1:30 p.m., we realized our food still had not come out, while other tables being served by our waitress were receiving prompt and friendly service. Our waitress passed our table four times without stopping to provide an update on our food or apologize for the extensive wait time. We were finally able to get her attention and politely asked about the status of our order. Without an apology or acknowledgment of our experience, she responded that she would tell the chefs to "rush" our order. We never asked for our food to be rushed -- we simply wanted an update because we had already been waiting far longer than expected. When our food was eventually brought out by another staff member, it was cold after nearly two hours of waiting. At that point, my husband asked to speak with the manager because not only was the wait time unacceptable, but the food was also cold. The manager eventually came to our table, apologized for the delay, and offered to discount the meal. My husband thanked him for the apology, but by that point, we decided the experience was not worth salvaging. We told the manager we did not want the cold food or watered-down drinks. Not only was our Mother's Day celebration ruined, but the lack of accountability from the staff and the poor customer service made the entire experience extremely disappointing.
