I'd just ate some lunch and was in the mood for a sweet treat, so I decided to check out the pastry and cookie selection at Pilot Coffee Roasters. I've never been able to say no to a chocolate chip cookie, so obviously I had to get the Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookie. I went to break off a piece and it was so hard I had to just bite into it. Aside from it being woefully over baked, it's a pretty decent cookie. It's got this very rich chocolatey flavor that I found irresistible, and the sea salt does an effective job of balancing out its sweetness. Was it worth five bucks? Probably not, but I still enjoyed it. It would take a lot for me not to enjoy a chocolate chip cookie. read more

Ordered on line from Toronto, sent to Alberta. The beans were quite tasteless, extremely dry and ground out powdery. My impression is they were very old beans even if the roast date was fairly recent. I am communicating with the source for a refund and cost to return them. For the same beans (Heritage), the iced version takes the cake over the hot one any day. On my first visit I had a vanilla latte, and it was smooth but a bit acidic, which I blamed on the coffee bean, and the vanilla was artificial and bland. But today, I had it iced, and it was phenomenal. So smooth and silky, and the vanilla flavour was intertwined so well with the espresso and milk that it tasted naturally sweet as opposed to a shot of syrup. Instant mood booster for sure, especially on such a snowy day. Service was okay, but I do agree with some of the reviews on the unfriendliness. They say hello for sure but it's like one of those polite skin smiles and not with the muscle - iykyk, lol. And with the bar seats facing away from the counter, and the table seating being on the other side of the pillars, the mood seems befitting to just get your coffee and go. read more

Ah slightly disappointed. Stopped by this location after work for a quick pick me up and the shop orientation was a little confusing. Seems like it is still following a one direction flow system which is great if I knew which shop entrance was the beginning haha. I ordered a flat white with the barista at a kiosk and proceeded down the counter for drink pickup. Overall the staff were not friendly and seem to be in a rush. Rush for what I'm not quite sure as I was the only customer... Regarding my drink, the coffee itself was not bad. I liked the flavour but I was not a fan of the milk frothing. I probably will not be coming back again with so many other options nearby. read more

Good atmosphere. Despite being in the plaza building it had some seating which was nice addition. The coffee is strong and enjoyable, I find it comparable to Starbucks. The baked goods are in my opinion excellent. The cheese croissant I had was of exceptional flavor. Despite that, it is a bit forgetful. The location here, 55 Bloor Street West in Manulife Centre, is used to be Timothy's World Coffee. Once I know Timothy's is gone, I am kind of sad as I like the coconut favor of the coffee. On the other hand, I am also happy that we are getting a pilot coffee here in Yonge/Bloor. A medium coffee (12oz) is $2.89, around 20 cents higher than I expect. Nonetheless, coffee is pretty good and they offer cream, milk, as well as oat milk! read more

Pilot is very conveniently located in the Manulife Centre on the main level. Great spot to drop in for post shopping relaxation. Their coffee is excellent and there are other satisfying drinks as well. Muffins and cookies too if you need some energy. There is counter seating in the store, a stepped seating area just outside the door and of course tables and chairs by the escalators. Friendly staff. read more

Ordered a latte. Coffee was fine, taste was good. However I can only give 3 stars because the plastic lid design is flawed. When I put on the lid I made sure to press down and check all sides around the lid, but in the following 5 min when I walked, coffee kept leaking from underneath the lid. It's just not secured. Okay coffee, but never hot enough. Extremely limited food selection. Slow service (takes a long time to make). Apart from that, nice bright decor.
