Yesterday, my son had occupational and speech therapy. While I was there, I specifically spoke with the front desk because my son had recently been approved for ALTCS. I gave them his new insurance information and asked what the next steps would be for him to receive more than 30 minutes of therapy. Two staff members spent several minutes reviewing everything and eventually explained that I needed to contact his DDD coordinator and that his pediatrician would need to send a new referral before he could continue receiving additional therapy. They returned the insurance information I had given them and specifically told me that they did not need to change anything in their system because his ID number was the same. At NO point did either employee tell me that there was an issue with his insurance coverage, that his therapies that day might not be covered, or that I could potentially be responsible for paying for them. Today, Jasmine, who was not there during yesterday's conversation, called me and asked whether my son was with DDD. I told her yes and explained that I had already informed the office yesterday that he had been approved for ALTCS. Instead of trying to understand what had happened, she immediately began blaming me for not notifying them while his ALTCS application was still in process. I explained that I was NEVER told I was required to notify the office while his application was pending. In fact, I had not brought my son to therapy for the previous weeks, and Jasmine herself was the person who called ME to schedule yesterday's appointment. When she scheduled it, she never told me there was an issue with his previous insurance, never asked if I had new insurance, and never asked whether I would be paying out of pocket. Instead of acknowledging that there had clearly been a communication failure on their end as well, Jasmine repeatedly told me that I NEEDED TO BE A RESPONSIBLE MOM and that AS A RESPONSIBLE MOM I SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED THEM. Then, in a mocking and condescending manner, she asked me, "SO YOU JUST APPLIED FOR ALTCS YESTERDAY?" even though I had already explained that I informed their staff yesterday that my son had been APPROVED. When I corrected her and explained that obviously I could not have applied yesterday if I was telling them he was already approved, she responded that this meant I had been going through the process for a while and should have notified them sooner. I found the entire interaction incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. My responsibility as a mother should NEVER be questioned by a receptionist over an insurance or administrative issue. I personally went to the front desk, provided my son's new insurance information, explained that he had been approved for ALTCS, asked what I needed to do next, and followed the information THEIR STAFF gave me. Jasmine eventually told me to call the insurance company myself to find out whether they would cover the therapies from yesterday and that otherwise I would have to pay for them. Insurance misunderstandings can happen, and I would have been completely willing to discuss the situation and find a solution. What I will NOT accept is being blamed, spoken down to, mocked, and repeatedly told that I NEEDED TO BE A RESPONSIBLE MOM, especially when their own staff had my son's insurance information in their hands the day before and never informed me there was a coverage issue. There is a professional way to communicate with parents. Questioning my parenting because of an insurance issue was completely unnecessary and crossed a line. I sincerely hope management addresses this situation with Jasmine and reviews how their front desk handles insurance changes and communicates with parents so another family does not have the same experience.

They've taken their own personal time to coordinate care, support us in trainings and equipment meetings, and advocate for our daughter alongside us. These two are STARS, (to say the least!) and we are so grateful to have them leading such important domains of her therapy journey. I want to highlight the incredible RBTs and therapy techs who work with our girlie every day. They have been such a vital part of her progress + development. They take the time to truly learn and understand her unique communication, cues, and needs, and they work diligently to help her reach her goals. Their consistency, attentiveness, and genuine care have made a huge difference in her progress and in her comfort at therapy. The cherry on top: the nursing staff. "Exceptional care" is an understatement. They manage her daily medications with diligence and thoughtfulness, always keeping an extra eye out for symptoms or changes. Knowing our child is supported by nurses who understand her complexity and go the extra mile to ensure her safety gives our family tremendous peace of mind. Last but definitely not least, the owners! Dan and Katie deserve special recognition. None of this would've happened without their vision to bring compassionate, collaborative, meaningful high level care to the disabled community. They are not only compassionate leaders, but true advocates. They consistently go well above normal expectations to ensure she is safe, supported, and receiving the best possible therapy approach in every area. They've helped us through PLENTY of insurance hoops (which are difficult to navigate) and they didn't even bat an eye. They sought out every avenue to help us until it was no longer an obstacle for us. I can't tell you how much that means, especially when we are already at our mental bandwidth so often. Their willingness to collaborate, problem-solve, and support our family over the last 3+ years has been paramount to keeping our daughter at BloomKidz. We live quite far from the clinic location wise, and Dan and Katie have done so much to accommodate our family thru this so that it's still possible for us to get her here daily. Their ability to understand scheduling difficulties and commutes for a big family has been so considerate and valuable to us during our time here. BloomKidz is filled with the most selfless individuals. They have not only helped our girl reach milestones we once only dreamed about, but they have also given our family hope, encouragement, and support during a journey that can often feel extremely overwhelming and isolating. When he started at Bloom, he was minimally verbal. Only a few short phrases and they were rarely spoken spontaneously. We started seeing a huge difference in his speech and skills within a few weeks! It has been a little over a year and he is a completely different child. His speech has exploded and has a much easier time expressing his needs. Every member of Gray's team goes above and beyond to work together and communicate with us on his progress. It's incredibly overwhelming to not only find the right kind of care, but manage all of the back and forth admin. The staff has held my hand through all of this. That was disappointing to hear, especially since that particular therapist once had such positive energy and tone. Additionally, I've witnessed therapists on their phones during sessions. One therapist was on her phone so long that my daughter mistook it for screen time. Another was pushing a child on a swing while scrolling on her phone. To be fair, I have seen some very positive and dedicated therapists here, but unfortunately they are mixed in with others who seem far too comfortable and disengaged. The first Speech and Language Pathology Assistant ("SLPA") was terrible and we were told by the…read moreSpeech and Language Pathologist ("SLP") that it caused our child to regress in his speech... how do they allow that to happen(possibly due to lack of oversight as mentioned again below)?! We were still given a full non-adjusted bill despite the detrimental service. I should have removed my child from here at this point, but unfortunately believed them that things would be corrected. Our second SLPA was good. She was kind, patient, and tried her best, which was nice for our child. The issue is the actual SLP was never around and not involved in the care of our child. In about a year and a half of coming to this location, we saw the actual SLP once. The SLP is responsible for creating the therapy plan and making adjustments as needed, they also are responsible for having 10% direct and 10% indirect supervision on the SLPA (which should be documented). None of that happened. Our child had the same care plan the entire time. We had an assessment done at the end of our time which was wildly inaccurate (as determined by 2 other SLPs) where we were told our child was performing at a lower percentile than when we first brought him. Overall, the people are nice. The SLPA did her best with the limited resources available, but I cannot recommend this place. Side note, their billing was very lagged. We would gets bills for appointments 3-4 months behind. I did not hold against them as this is not uncommon in healthcare, just annoying.
