Yesterday, my son had occupational and speech therapy. While I was there, I specifically spoke with the front desk because my son had recently been approved for ALTCS. I gave them his new insurance information and asked what the next steps would be for him to receive more than 30 minutes of therapy. Two staff members spent several minutes reviewing everything and eventually explained that I needed to contact his DDD coordinator and that his pediatrician would need to send a new referral before he could continue receiving additional therapy. They returned the insurance information I had given them and specifically told me that they did not need to change anything in their system because his ID number was the same. At NO point did either employee tell me that there was an issue with his insurance coverage, that his therapies that day might not be covered, or that I could potentially be responsible for paying for them. Today, Jasmine, who was not there during yesterday's conversation, called me and asked whether my son was with DDD. I told her yes and explained that I had already informed the office yesterday that he had been approved for ALTCS. Instead of trying to understand what had happened, she immediately began blaming me for not notifying them while his ALTCS application was still in process. I explained that I was NEVER told I was required to notify the office while his application was pending. In fact, I had not brought my son to therapy for the previous weeks, and Jasmine herself was the person who called ME to schedule yesterday's appointment. When she scheduled it, she never told me there was an issue with his previous insurance, never asked if I had new insurance, and never asked whether I would be paying out of pocket. Instead of acknowledging that there had clearly been a communication failure on their end as well, Jasmine repeatedly told me that I NEEDED TO BE A RESPONSIBLE MOM and that AS A RESPONSIBLE MOM I SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED THEM. Then, in a mocking and condescending manner, she asked me, "SO YOU JUST APPLIED FOR ALTCS YESTERDAY?" even though I had already explained that I informed their staff yesterday that my son had been APPROVED. When I corrected her and explained that obviously I could not have applied yesterday if I was telling them he was already approved, she responded that this meant I had been going through the process for a while and should have notified them sooner. I found the entire interaction incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. My responsibility as a mother should NEVER be questioned by a receptionist over an insurance or administrative issue. I personally went to the front desk, provided my son's new insurance information, explained that he had been approved for ALTCS, asked what I needed to do next, and followed the information THEIR STAFF gave me. Jasmine eventually told me to call the insurance company myself to find out whether they would cover the therapies from yesterday and that otherwise I would have to pay for them. Insurance misunderstandings can happen, and I would have been completely willing to discuss the situation and find a solution. What I will NOT accept is being blamed, spoken down to, mocked, and repeatedly told that I NEEDED TO BE A RESPONSIBLE MOM, especially when their own staff had my son's insurance information in their hands the day before and never informed me there was a coverage issue. There is a professional way to communicate with parents. Questioning my parenting because of an insurance issue was completely unnecessary and crossed a line. I sincerely hope management addresses this situation with Jasmine and reviews how their front desk handles insurance changes and communicates with parents so another family does not have the same experience.

She is doing great with Drew. She has been up walking with assistance and Drew has all the patience and does his job with a smiling face. You can tell he enjoys helping people. What a great asset to this company. I even had him work on me with my back. I'm telling you when mom goes into hospital and than rehab facility the staff all know about "Drew" I also had a lady named Kennedy working on my back and she is good as well. I just love how there is no rushing and the therapist stays with you for one full hr. Can't say enough about AZOPT. I THANK YOU & SO DOES MY MOM!

The first Speech and Language Pathology Assistant ("SLPA") was terrible and we were told by the…read moreSpeech and Language Pathologist ("SLP") that it caused our child to regress in his speech... how do they allow that to happen(possibly due to lack of oversight as mentioned again below)?! We were still given a full non-adjusted bill despite the detrimental service. I should have removed my child from here at this point, but unfortunately believed them that things would be corrected. Our second SLPA was good. She was kind, patient, and tried her best, which was nice for our child. The issue is the actual SLP was never around and not involved in the care of our child. In about a year and a half of coming to this location, we saw the actual SLP once. The SLP is responsible for creating the therapy plan and making adjustments as needed, they also are responsible for having 10% direct and 10% indirect supervision on the SLPA (which should be documented). None of that happened. Our child had the same care plan the entire time. We had an assessment done at the end of our time which was wildly inaccurate (as determined by 2 other SLPs) where we were told our child was performing at a lower percentile than when we first brought him. Overall, the people are nice. The SLPA did her best with the limited resources available, but I cannot recommend this place. Side note, their billing was very lagged. We would gets bills for appointments 3-4 months behind. I did not hold against them as this is not uncommon in healthcare, just annoying.

I needed therapy shortly thereafter and Trish and others that handled the phones juggled things so we could have therapy at the same time since we drive approx 12 miles to the facility. Miche is our principal therapist and is absolutely 10 of 10. When things get busy the other therapists switch off and know what they are doing. I have been to other therapists and this crew is top notch. One office in Scottsdale actually aggravated my condition. I did not return. Karen, the owner? Manager? Has put a great team together. So...we had cancer surgery last year. Plus chemo, and all the recovery that goes with it. On our…read morerecent follow-up with the surgeon, she recommended physical therapy (why didn't she recommend that last year??!!). And, specifically, she mentioned Bustillo Physical Therapy. Have had several sessions now, and I can see why. Most PT offices will have you do stretches and exercises. Which is fine. But this office appears to be one of the few that knows how to handle cancer survivors. After the initial evaluation, the first thing that happened was a sort of massage of the affected area. This is to reactivate the damaged lymph system in that area, to counteract lymphedema. Most other PT offices won't do that. In fact, we consulted our massage therapists, and they said that even they don't do that. Each session begins with the lymphedema massage. Karen is a PhD in physical therapy (per the diploma on the wall). Maybe that has something to do with it. We have noted great improvement in range of motion, swelling, and pain in the upper body. We still need to work the lower body, but hopefully they'll get to that soon. They are starting to work strength now, because flexibility has improved so much. The two things to "ding" them for is: 1) they don't have a lot of equipment, and 2) their layout is not the best. I'm not sure if different equipment would benefit us or not, but they don't have a lot of equipment so we can't really know anyway. However, using the simple tools they do have we have seen a lot of improvement. As for their layout, the biggest thing is that the work/exercise area is also the traffic area. So you're standing doing arm curls, and someone has to go past you, you have to move to allow them to pass you. That shouldn't be. Someone's workout program should not be interrupted because another person needs to go by you to use the restroom, or needs to get to the elastic bands, or whatever. I'm not an expert at designing layouts, but there should be a way to have an unobstructed path that doesn't disturb patients' routines. This doesn't take away from the vast improvements we are seeing, but it is an annoyance that should be addressed somehow. This is one of those situations where I'd like to be able to do a half star (4.5 stars), but Yelp doesn't do that. We are happy with the results so far, and are looking forward to further improvement.

The staff here does not process insurance claims in a timely manner and fail to update patients…read moreabout billing changes. I received almost $300 statements with claims they did not send into my insurance from over 2 months ago. It is unacceptable that they would wait this long to complete a claim, then dump a huge bill at once on a patient because they care more about making a profit over providing care. Their billing employee is also extremely disrespectful and rude, which is completely unacceptable for a mental health provider. A complete lack of empathy after If they would have communicated this at all prior or even immediately after my appointment I would've looked for another provider. They also failed to communicate new legislation that requires them to see patients on a controlled substance on a monthly basis, so if you're already paying triple digits every 3 months don't expect them to tell you to start preparing to pay that every month. Every provider I have worked with from here is great, but the administrative and billing department is absolutely atrocious.
