Yes some were mentioned in the report but not nearly all of the things we found that needed to be fixed, that should have been mentioned.

He answered all of our questions and gave us an in depth explanation as to why the issues occurred and how to cost efficiently fix them. John performed a home inspection on June 11. After he left I noticed that the angle of the shower head and spray had been altered and were left permanently in the wrong places. I had had to have the shower head replaced at my expense. John denied that he had touched it and came out to try to fix it. He took no responsibility for changing it. The washing machine was left protruding from the wall. The timer for my automatic sprinkler had been unplugged causing damage to my lawn by the time I noticed it. A rat trap was found in the rose bed that hadn't been seen there in the past. When I called the company office, the manager I spoke with denied responsibility and made excuses. He seemed completely disinterested in the issues and wanted to know why I had called. He didn't understand that this was a complaint. His bottom line was that there were other explanations for everything and that the inspector had nothing to do with the problems. The quality of the actual inspection remains to be seen. After the minor issues he reported are repaired, it will depend on what the buyer's inspector finds. All in all, my recommendation is to avoid this company. read more

Edited as of 9/4/2020: increased stars to 3 John M came out last week to look at what was missed on my previous inspection. John was very courteous and understanding with my frustrations. He reviewed the virtual walk through that was done with the original inspection and acknowledged that the windows absolutely should not have been marked as operational and the instant hot water dispenser also should have been noted as non-functional. They were very quick to address my concerns and own their employee's mistake. We came to a mutually acceptable resolution and I am very happy with how they have addressed the issue. I feel this was a one-off on their part and they were very nice to work with. We used Pillar to Post at the recommendation of our realtor back in June 2020. We were moving from out of state and were really relying on our inspection to be our eyes for problems in the house we were under contract. They caught little things: dry rot on a post on the back porch, trees too close to the house and some caulking missing on sinks to name a few. However big things like 4 of the 7 living room windows on broken tracks, leaking sink, hot water dispenser nonfunctional, were ALL MISSED ON THE INSPECTION! These are just some of the things that we're not found during the home inspection. When our realtor reached out to them their response was that it was noted in the report that the windows seemed operational however there were personal items in front of some of the windows so the inspector did not check them. Four out of the 7 windows are NON-FUNCTIONAL! I cannot believe that if one window was blocked then all windows are off limits for inspection? Now I will either have to eat the cost of repairing the windows or take the seller to small claims court and try to prove they must have known the windows were broken. I cannot believe the unprofessionalism that Pillar to Post has displayed during this process. I would highly recommend anyone considering them for a home inspection to keep looking. This is an industry people rely on when making such a large purchase and this company will take your money and do a very shoddy job. read more

0 stars. Jeff Heide put together a report on my home that included self-contradicting information and false statements. This inspector told the buyer that there was a pipe leading to nowhere in the crawl space which was entirely UNTRUE-- and that *same report* included a pic of that very intact pipe, leading to the sewer (of course!)! The report also said that the gas furnace did not work at all, but then included great temperature readings from all the heater registers checked. Buddy, the gas furnace and the heater are the same thing in this house. WOW. He was also rude as hell when I let him in, and honestly when I got this report from the buyer it really pissed me off. I'm considering not going through with the sale since now the buyers are asking for all kinds of discounts based on totally false information---even though his report clearly shows what he said was completely incorrect. Full disclosure, I am a seller, not a buyer, but even if I was the buyer I wouldn't want to piss off the seller with a report full of falsehoods. Whether these are generated by incompetence or a need to justify high prices they are charging in this hot market, makes no difference. It's still bad business. I didn't trust this guy in my house. Buyers: use a more reputable inspector, most homeowners *want* to fix issues with their house and want to work with the seller to make sure they get what they want. Presenting them with a BS report is not a good way to get negotiations going, it's exactly the opposite. read more

Joshua from the Mills Inspection team did our inspection. He arrived right on time and got down to business. He was very easy to talk with and didn't mind my tagging along while he did the inspection. Not only did he discuss issues as he saw them, but he also pointed out home maintenance tasks to consider for the future. After the 3 hour inspection, he typed up the report and printed it! He said he always brings a printer with him so that he can give customers a report before he leaves. It even came in this nice organized binder. Payment was flexible. Had 2 great experiences using Pillar to Post for home inspections! The first time I used them, I was looking into buying a home in Springfield that ended up having too many issues, mainly the roof. The inspector Jeff gave a me detailed hard cover book with pictures of all the issues found. I decided to walk on the house, too many issues. My landlord told me that would be the best $400 you ever spent. He was right, getting stuck with a lemon/money pit house is something I was hoping not to sign my life away to.... I found a better house in Eugene and of course I wanted to use Pillar to Post again. Jeff came out and was able to do a better inspection that the sellers OWN inspection. He made access to the attic, the other inspector didn't. He noticed the roof was at the end of its life, the other inspector didn't. He did twice if not triple what the other inspector did. Bottom line if you want THROUGH inspection from honest inspectors. I've had great luck with Pillar to Post. read more

Since then, I found that the inspection did not include a termite report, side panel water damage (on the south side of the house), non-functional water shut-off valves, a roof in much worse condition than was explained to me, and unsafe railings that are 8 inches apart (4 is required). To top it all off, the insurance company did their own inspection, and if the roof and railings are not fixed by in 3 weeks, they would revoke the house insurance. This terribly conducted inspection resulted in more than $10,000 in unexpected charges that month I paid Pillar and Post so I could avoid this headache. Don't waste your money by hiring this company. We moved here from out of state and our realtor recommended this company. They were so busy trying to up-sell my husband on further unnecessary inspections but missed water damage on the ceiling of our first floor (several places), not to mention our fence was shot and they didn't say a word, but they did mention that our yard was being over-watered, even though they claim they don't evaluate landscaping (and that's why they didn't notice the fence). When questioned, the owner made absolutely no apology and talked to me like I was a complete idiot. Had we known everything that we've learned since moving in, we would most definitely never have purchased this house. I've been a Realtor in two other states and just got licensed in Oregon. I will NEVER recommend this company; in fact, It's puzzling to me why so many realtors DO recommend this company. Go with a local home inspector not a franchise. read more

Absolute disastrous shoddy job. Purchased a secondary residence in Eugene. We were there only occasionally. One day after a rain we noticed a light fixture dripping water. Called a roofer and he found significant long standing water damage in the attic. This was not noted in the inspection nor was it disclosed by sellerA managerial employee from Pillar to Post came out, confirmed the finding. Explanation was that the inspector can not look at everything. Since the inspection took place 1 1/2 earlier we had no recourse. The seller did not disclose the dripping fixture. The damage was present at the time of purchase proven by the fact that the dripping light fixture was non functioning at purchase but the seller just said it is a burned out bulb. In reality it was rusted which we did not notice until we replaced the bulb but regretfully it did not register that there was a leakage problem until the fixture dripped 1 1/2 later. Now because of the unprofessional inspection we are faced with the re-roofing. Insulation in the way is no excuse. The water intrusion was plainly visible by just looking up at the plywood decking of the roof or the structural wood beams. Still think your inspector should have seen it if he inspects the attic - the whole attic, not a spot check. He only did a comfortable spot check. read more

They missed something that I consider to be a pretty big miss - a main ceiling light that wasn't working, and not only not working, but not wired at all. When I asked for a small amount (the amount I paid them) to band-aid the situation with lamps (because wiring would be very costly) - they had the nerve to ask me to sign to waive their liability for anything further that they may have missed. I don't feel like I asked for much to fix the situation, and they were unwilling. read more

September 2014 I was first time home buyer under contract. Pillar to post was not our first choice for our inspection but since we were on short time frame we went with them at our buyers agent's suggestion. Everything seemed kosher, Andrew was prompt and answered the questions we had, seemed like he knew what he was doing. The repairs he recommend seem pretty minor, no deal breakers or points to renegotiate price. We closed on the house and got started on our renovations. First...the "evidence of a past leak, testing dry" was really soaking wet, black subfloor in 1/2 the kitchen and Black mold on the wall under the kitchen sink and behind the cabinets. This type of damage doesn't happen happen in the 3-4 weeks from inspection to closing in an unoccupied home. The water lines under the sink were dripping non stop, no mention in the report that that was even noticed. So 1 week into home ownership I was looking at a new kitchen, joists to ceiling. The water lines in the master bath were also leaking, enough that when we entered the house for the first time after closing the carpet in the vanity area was like a soaked sponge. That had to go too. The crawl space is in the closet off that vanity area, again no mention in the report, not even noticed. Needless to say I was beyond disappointed in the inspection and out money I really didn't have as all my savings went towards our down payment. Last spring it was discovered that the front hose bib (which was not tested according to the report) was cracked in the wall and growing mold, we fixed that too. Flash forward a year...pretty substantial leak in the roof over the garage....I got a couple bids on repairs and it turns out the 6-8 year old roof Andrew said we had is over 20 years old and needs replaced. I got the binder pillar to post gave and yep right there in black and white 6-8, typical life expectancy left. It's January in Oregon and I'm still paying off a brand new kitchen. What a joke. Save your self a headache and some serious cash money and don't use this company. read more

I viewed a home on Piper Ln today in Eugene with a Pillar To Post report available for viewing. I was stunned by several items in the report: 1. report said drywall was perfectly fine with a gew typical minor cracks. Not so, big gaping cracks on both ends of vaulted ceiling in LR along with several additional floor to ceiling lines. meandering crack entire length of hallway ceiling. 2. report stated exterior siding was good with no problems. Not so, there was obvious dryrot in several spots. also an exhaust pipe from vac system in garage extended partway through the wall exposing siding to moisture. 3. said foundation was good. How can that be when the floors are obviously sloped and bulging in several rooms and the garage floor has huge gaping cracks that you would trip over? much of the foundation was not visible from exterior due to decks but certainly there would have been observable problems from the crawl space. Evidently my assessment correct as the listing now states there is a foundation correction bid available. 4. report said fireplace was good. What? even his picture showed issues and easy visual inspection identified bricks pulled away from the house to the point of seeing light shine through. 5. report said roof was good and at mid life. bulging, lifting shingles, some with cracks. Astounding! I am sure glad this company was not available to do the inspection on the home I purchased in 2014. read more

The owner of Pillar to Post does not care about good customer service. His man came out because I am selling my house due to a bad knee injury. I have lived in my home for 21 years. The next day after the inspection, my shower ceased to have much pressure coming out. And the setting had been changed when I turned it on. And an issue with the way my fireplace was treated.mI called Andrew the owner. He came out with another employee. He was contrite and bordered on rude. He made a snide remark about my house being old. Said he would check with how much it would cost and get back to me soon. He waited until a couple of minutes before five to tell me he was not going to pay to fix the issue. I tried to explain my side. He did not care and as much told me that customer service meant little to him. He told me to call my realtor and have him pay. Yikes! Being a senior citizen with an injury, I need my shower to work correctly. I will also be filing a complaint with BBB. read more
