Ordered catering from Pilin Thai earlier this year. I needed a big lunch for my employees during their profession's appreciation week. There was no catering menu online, but walking to the owner, placing my order, I think the prices I was offered were more than fair. Everyone I dealt with was very friendly. As for the food, it was delicious. I have lots of veggie friendly staff, so this place was perfect. Vegetable spring rolls, no meat pad Thai, a chicken and a tofu yellow curry, which is a coconut, no-meat base. Everything was great. Very good flavor, a good crunch on the veggies in the pad Thai. This is a very nice place for a quiet dinner and delicious Thai food. I pretty much eat curry when we come and my husband is an individual who loves the spice basil, so he usually has a basil infused stir fry. The curry is very nice, spiced just the way I like it and not overpowering the taste buds so your mouth is numb to all flavors for hours. The Thai tea is also absolutely delicious. This eatery is great for lunch with reasonably priced options as well. Pilin is a a quaint and cozy Altamonte staple that delivers some of the best Thai in Altamonte Springs. They are consistently good and the staff is so friendly and helpful. Their lunch special is hard to beat with a good price to portion ratio. The Panang Curry Chicken is my go to and I get it Thai Hot, which could be spicier in my opinion (but I love spice) and they provide extra chili to kick it up as needed. read more

This was the second time I've been to Pilin Thai. The first time was about 4 years ago when I lived close by. I also remember it not being very good back then, but sometimes I like to give places another chance. Unfortunately, the second time wasn't better and we probably won't be going back. It's not like anything terrible happened but overall it just wasn't good. The service is lackluster and the food always leaves something to be desired. My lady ordered her go-to favorite of Pad Thai with chicken (mild spice) and I order my favorite go-to Pad See Ew with beef (medium spice). Both dishes were very underwhelming and disappointing. The pad Thai came very red colored and overly sweet. My dish came bland and didn't have its normal pizazz. Both had no spice and the meats were not seasoned well at all. I ordered from here on Doordash for lunch and got the Pad Thai with Chicken. They serve a good portion of food and it tasted pretty good. Their Pad Thai is more on the savory side but I prefer a sweeter/sour flavor profile. It didn't come with any lime or peanut topping unfortunately. The noodles had a good texture to them and weren't over cooked like most places. Had enough sauce to cover all the noodles and wasn't overly greasy or dry tasting. This was my first time here and my server Leah was so amazing. She literally explained everything on the menu to me and gave me her recommendations. I was so hungry so I didn't get pictures of my food, but I had everything I had, was so satisfying. We had fried dumplings. Thai donuts, Tom Yum soup, wonton soup, krab Rangoon, and some tea. Unfortunately won't be back. Entering the restaurant, it was so dark... no music... just didn't feel like a comforting restaurant ambiance. Ordered Thai tea and it was sour... when I told our server that it was sour, she didn't seem surprised and just said "oh it's sour. We can swap it out". Ordered Pad Thai chicken with medium spice and Pad Thai tofu with hot spice. We were eating and I kept complaining that my dish was way too spicy and my mom was saying hers wasn't spicy at all... I couldn't eat more and then my mom tried mine and said this was actually super spicy and the restaurant must have made a mistake by making the tofu dish medium instead of hot... when this was brought up, the server said they don't measure out their spices so the cook must have put too much spice into the dish... when we got the check, it did show that she put the order in incorrectly... she put it as Pad Thai tofu with medium spice... when this dish should have been the hot spice. And the icing on the cake... one of the pad Thais had an inedible plastic piece in it.. when we told the server, she said that it looked like an uncooked clear noodle, but we told her after several chews, and the plastic not breaking, we knew it was a plastic piece... thankfully the restaurant took it off the receipt, but overall it seemed like the server had remarks for all the mistakes that occurred today... Each dish was so disappointing. I'm not sure what is going on but please go back to the old recipes please ! Flavor combinations were on point before. The Thai tea I kid you not was so bad I spit it out. The milk I believe was sour. The cashew nut used to use snap peas now they are using bell pepper. Totally changed flavor of the dish. The food at lunch was wonderful, and the meal came with soup, salad, and a spring roll....say what?! I was incredibly impressed with the lunch special that I got from Pilin Thai!! For about ten dollars, they give you a spring roll, a small portion of the most delicious chicken and rice soup, a small salad with a robust ginger dressing, and your entree choice. I chose Pad See Ew with pork and removed the carrots and subbed snow peas. Best idea ever!! I love the crispy bite one gets when biting into snow peas and it truly heightened the juxtaposition of flavors and textures with the soft, broad noodles with broccoli. The pork was so lean and so tender and so full of flavor. I will be going to Pilin at least once a week for the next couple of months that I am here visiting my mom because I want to support their business and it's so delicious. If there is something I will not tolerate in Asian food Restorant's is "frozen vegetables" OMG and this place mix's fresh with frozen disgusting. Pan fried vegetables?? They serve them in a soupy like broth. Maybe because of the price? Then the chicken --THE AO CALL chicken is like very white tiny cut something but I don't think it was chicken in the soup. The bill was like $22 so I think I paid for the price. I didn't order much just because I was being cautious-- but I left within 20 mins. It was lunch time on a Thursday but I will def not going back. I finally tried Pilin! I can't believe this was my first time. I've been in Altamonte for years. I ordered the pad see ew dinner combo and it was some of the best I've tried. I do think the meal was a little pricey for the amount of food I got. The chicken rice soup was delicious! Super garlicky which made me feel like I was amping up my immune system- important in 2020. The combo also came with a small salad and tiny spring roll. I do really wish they wouldn't use styrofoam. My soup AND salad came in foam. I thought it was pretty widely known at this point that styrofoam is super eco UNfriendly. I can't even recycle it at the recycling center I take my stuff to, it just gets trashed and takes FOREVER to biodegrade. But yeah, I may try to mention it to the owner if they don't see this. I usually mention it to any business I visit that's still using foam. The woman who took care of my to-go order was super sweet! Through both the ordering and pick-up process.
