This place has been my go to place for Chinese take away for years. Not anymore. Several people I know have stopped using it to for the same reason. What has happened in the kitchen. The food use to be mouth watering good. Not anymore more. The foods are flavorless and all sauces are tasteless watery nothing. I needed a new takeout place after my usual got too expensive and quality tanked. Someone recommended we try King's. They have everything you expect on the menu and are takeout only, no delivery. We ordered two dinner combos (with pork fried rice and an egg roll) and a small soup. Pickup was quick and easy. The order was ready before we got there and you pay when you arrive. The amount of food you get is amazing and will last me a few meals. The fried rice is very tasty and the sauces were great. I got the General Tso's chicken and my husband got the Orange Chicken. We usually have roughly the same order- Beef Chop Suey, Egg Foo Young; Sweet & Siur Chicken, Krab Rangoon, Beef & Broccoli and Boneless Spare Ribs. No, just no. A waste of money and calories sadly. I had the orange chicken dinner combo and an order of buffalo wings (sauce on side) and small shrimp fried rice for my mother. Orange chicken was well sauced but dry and chewy over time. Rice had a bit of burned essence after some time and was inconsistent in texture. The egg roll was cute. My mom said yuck after her meal. It's run of the mill greasy spoon Chinese fare without the satisfaction of worthiness. Every time I stray from the tried and true Wonderful House in Longwood, I am disgusted with the alternative. Have tried other local Chinese restaurants but this one has been the best for us. It always has a steady crowd. There are a few small tables in there but it seems most people tend to go with takeout or delivery. Great lunch specials under $5.. They are open until 11 pm on Fri/Sat so great for takeout dinner meals.. We usually get the large Sesame Chicken for $10, includes a pint of steamed rice.. It was pretty standard for a Chinese place. Not super delicious but not terrible either. The vegetables seem fresh and were cooked well. The donuts, wontons, and egg rolls were fried well, not too greasy. Nothing stood out as outstanding though, and service was quick but not exactly warm and friendly.
