Having someone work with me one on one with the poses was great, but really the thing that was game changing was the way she helped me develop strategies for incorporating yoga into my daily life. As a bartender I work long shifts on my feet, she has given me ways to stretch and breathe that I can do when I'm in the middle of a twelve hour shift that really improve the way I feel during and after long days. She taught me so much about breathing that has shifted the way I face the day, reducing anxiety and improving my mood almost immediately. And because I'm not the most flexible person (yet), she showed me modifications and stretches I could do to increase flexibility and get the same benefits of the full pose. I feel like the thing that keeps the people who need yoga the most, from getting such an amazing introduction is that most private lessons are over $100/hour. Third eye has made this package more affordable (which is amazing), but also they have exponentially increased the value of the lessons. Nicole isn't just teaching you how to do yoga poses. She's teaching you from the inside out about incorporating yoga into your life in a million different ways. You leave there feeling like the poses are the least important part, and the core of what you've learned will carry you on an amazing journey for the rest of your life. Tonight I attended my first regular group class. I was still very much a beginner, but I was confident in my practice and my core and so I left feeling positive and excited about continuing with yoga. Do yourself a favor. Treat yourself to this. You won't regret it.

The following spring I bought some private sessions through Yogaworks in downtown Brooklyn (with Gabrielle), and that experience was transformative. The sessions were all completely individualized toward my needs, rather than a standard sequence. I enjoyed the sessions with Nicole, but I have had much more positive experiences with private yoga with then. I moved from NYC in summer 2018.

With three girls, it was very hard to coordinate schedule on when we could take the class. Cody was very patient with me on scheduling classes, canceling, and rescheduling over a two month period. My girlfriends and I finally were able to schedule an aerial class with her in the Williamsburg location. She had three silks dedicated for a class of around 10 people. The newbies (us 3) had one sillk and the more experienced individuals took the others. Cody was very good at spending time with the newbies and teaching us the basics. Everyone, at the class, were also very supportive and gave us positive feedback. We were only able to learn the basics in one class. I wish there was more time to teach us some of the more complicated moves but that's what makes you want to come back for more. Let me just say that it's not as easy at it seems. The experience definitely humbled me. Just watching the regulars there, it was amazing to watch how sexy and free flowing the moves were.

I've been to trainers at other gyms that are not attentive. She is the opposite of that. She focuses only on you when you're with her. It's worth the price. It's a really nice space to work out. Many times I'm the only one there for the session. At most I've only been in the space with two other people. Carly is the person that makes the appointments and she is really lovely also.

Although Jennie came highly recommended by 2 very athletic Brooklyn frends (who credit her personal training and therapeutic massages with allowing them to maintain ambitious fitness regimens), I never used her services before because I live in Manhattan and Hands On Health's studio is in Park Slope, Brooklyn. That is, until today. I had a "runner's emergency", namely a horribly painful piriformis muscle in my tush that caused radiating pain in my legs which made it almost impossible to walk...much less to run! In desperation, I decided that I would finally make the trek to Brooklyn to seek relief from Jennie - so I phoned her, and although I was a new customer, she squeezed me in (pardon the pun) on a last-minute basis to her very busy schedule, because she knew I was acutely suffering. After an hour at Hands on Health (an unassuming but serene setting, located 2 blocks from the 15th Street F subway in Park Slope) and some amazingly expert therapeutic massage, I was able to stand upright again. Unlike a number of massage practitioners at the local Chinese "Qi Gong Tui Na" places I've tried for prior sports injuries, Jennie KixMiller really knows exactly what she is doing. Aside from giving me a great massage, she also showed me some preventive and remedial stretches and exercises for the acute problem I was having, and provided other helpful fitness guidance. My particular issue is severe and will require a few more massage treatments, but based upon my pain-relieving experience today, I am really looking forward to continuing to work with Jennie until the last kink is out of my butt and my legs! I don't even mind the F train ride : )).

Maybe... just maybe... I've found my Brooklyn pilates studio!!…read more So... I work a ton of hours and tonight, by some miracle, I was able to escape the office around 5pm. I intended to go to another studio in the area, but I was running too late for the class and was this close to giving up on getting my pilates fix for the week. I had been getting daily emails (which I found a bit annoying) from Streamline for the past several months about their availability. As I retreated home... I remembered... they have a Reformer Plus class at 7:30pm. It was literally around the corner from where I was, so I went for it. Just my luck, not only was there room for me in the class, but I was the only person. I essentially had a one-on-one session with Phillipa and she was great! She did an excellent job explaining the various movements / articulations. For me, that's truly the sign of an excellent instructor, when they can perfectly direct you by saying rather than doing. She was professional, knowledgeable and easy-going. This was only the second reformer class I had done, so we started out on the mat and she introduced me to some movements that would help me on the reformer. I had a solid workout -- definitely a full body workout and my muscles felt the strain. I generally prefer to sweat a little more during my ideal pilates sessions, but in this class, I felt the strain without the sweat, which I appreciated. After the class, I inquired about private sessions and Phillipa explained a special Streamline offers for first-timers and that the studio is very flexible and tries to match you with an instructor based on your schedule/needs. She also suggested classes that I should take based on my skill level, identifying ones that would provide the best challenge and also be conducive to my schedule. It's taken a while for me to find a pilates class / studio that I really like and I think Streamline Pilates may be it. I appreciate the fact that they focus exclusively on pilates -- it's not a yoga studio parading like a pilates studio. There is tons of equipment / apparatuses. The studio is great with a wide open space and very high ceilings. If the other instructors are anything like Phillip, you'll definitely be in good hands. I highly recommend it.

Yoomi always spends the first few minutes of the session assessing your body and finding areas that are imbalanced. Throughout our sessions, Yoomi guides me through each exercise and ensures that I am working out in proper form.
