The seats are shaped like cars or planes and they have lollipops or animal crackers as treats. There's a toy room for families to wait in so little ones have some distractions. We did the 1 year old package which came with a certificate, lock of hair and a picture of the first cut. Great experience but not perfect on enforcing all parties 2 and over, to wear masks. We had a great experience however as a first cut and it was pretty quick. I felt comfortable and though my little guy cried at first, it was not scary for him and he adjusted pretty well. The first time I visited this place, my kids contracted adenovirus. As soon as I got home, my younger son started having diarrhea and a fever. Their pediatrician asked me if they had visited any public establishments, and I told her that we were at a kid salon during the day, and they played with multiple toys used by other kids in that salon. First off they're nice. Clean place actually. Friendly staff. The bad thing is what we came for, the haircut. They don't even know how to cut hair. We went there to get my child's hair cut because our old hairdresser moved out after all these years. We came across this place. It's expensive too. I think it's more than 25 dollars for a cut. We're so upset we didn't say anything we just walked out and at least I gave her a tip for her effort. Wound up going to a salon closer to us and go my child's hair fixed. We came all the way from DC for my son's first haircut and it was definitely worth it. Bre was our stylist snd she is a pro! My son did not cry or scream at all with her. She was very safe with using scissors and shears. She was patient with him if he jolted his head, and didn't make any cuts unless he was still. The end result was a fabulous haircut. The proportions of his hair were great and she added a lot of detail including adding a good amount of texture. We've been taking our now 2.5 year old daughter for over a year now. I finally got inspired to post a review after two moms in the past two days asked me where we get her hair cut! The staff are total pros. Whether she's calm or crying, wants the special chairs or just my lap, they are endlessly patient and prepared. Chickadee had been getting her hair trimmed at a regular salon, but I thought that we'd give this place a try since it was geared toward kids. The salon has 3 main areas: three "chairs" (airplane, fire truck, and police car) for little kids, two chairs for older kids and grown-ups, and a party room. The salon does not take appointments, and there are usually 2 or 3 stylists on duty at a given time. Should you have to wait with your little one(s), there is a full Thomas the Tank Engine train table set-up. If you're lucky, you may be able to pick up the free Wi-Fi from the Panera nearby. For kids who don't enjoy the haircut experience, they are distracted by a child-friendly t.v. show, bubbles, and little magnetic toys. The stylist will even offer your kiddo animal cookies or a lollipop to make the experience more palatable if need be. When your tots are sporting their new 'dos, they can select a toy from the pirate's chest. Thankfully, Chickadee has always been a laid-back kid and doesn't need to be bribed (yet!). The salon also has several displays of clothes, toys, and hair accessories. Guess that fits with the "captive audience" theme. The skinny: --regular haircut: $18 --first haircut package $24 (includes a photo) --adult haircuts available too --changing table in the bathroom / it's always been very clean! --complimentary coffee and tea for grown-ups --kids' parties available (I saw princess and pirate costumes; don't think we'll be doing this, but it's not a bad business idea) --punch card / after 10 haircuts, receive 50% off on next haircut --special events scheduled each month / face-painting, Locks of Love, etc. Chickadee and I both prefer one stylist (Ms. Patty), but on two of our visits, she was not available. After a couple of months of hoping my daughters hair would grow out in a way we could pull it back, we gave up and started looking for a good place to get her hair cut. This was the best reviewed one we could find, and for great reason: It's pretty awesome. First the bad: That parking lot is a nightmare of organization (or lack there-of) - not their problem, but give yourself some extra time when showing up. You can walk in - but there might be a wait - or call in for an appointment. They seem to be pretty on top of the time estimate, so we were able to head over to the toy store while we waited. However, if you were to stick around the shop is pretty entertaining on its own for the kids - lots of toys all over the place. The staff at the front was friendly, but it's the people cutting the hair that really shine. The whole thing is worked out really well - complete with little cups of animal crackers to placate toddlers. We opted to pay the extra $10 or so for the first haircut package - you get a couple locks of the hair and a photo in a card/envelope to commemorate it. This saved some time, since we were planning on doing something similar. They took a bunch of photos to make sure we got one we really liked - very patient over all. As far as how my daughter did; it was scary at first, she was overwhelmed - and the hairdresser stopped when she saw a small tear coming out. We got her some more animal crackers, and she noticed the woman sweeping the hair up and that distracted her enough to start enjoying herself. By the end she was smiling and even waved goodbye to the hairdresser at the end. It's a long drive for us - but we might be willing to do this to keep coming back. read more

Pricey but my son loves it so it's a go! We tried going other places but the kid friendliness is why you come here. Gus loves it. The waiting area has a train set for the kids to play and Gus always loves it (he's 2 years old). There are options too when you step in, big chairs for hair cuts and then the kiddie chairs (planes, etc in front of the cartoons and every station has lolly pops and animal crackers). The stylists are great and know exactly what to do with your toddler when they are screaming their heads off and know to work fast when they are cooperating. You usually walk in, sign in and wait. Sunday mornings are usually bad and during the week there are all sorts of incentives. It can be pricey but you are paying for the whole experience. They also have a treasure chest for when the kids are done where they can pick out one treasure. My son loves this part. If you have problems with your kiddo and hair cuts - try this out. They also sell all sorts of fun stuff for kids from rain coats to super hero capes, and specialty items. They seem to do birthday parties and really cater to the kids and parents (they also big kid haircuts). read more

My 18 month old was not happy about getting his haircut and refused to try the cool vehicle chairs. I held him in my lap while Shelly worked a miracle. He was screaming and whipping his head back and forth, trying to hit her, slinking down from my arms and trying to escape etc. She was so calm and kind and somehow turned his long shaggy hair into the cutest little cut- I have no idea how she managed to do it. The whole thing was thankfully over in about 4 minutes. At that point I was just hoping she managed to trim enough so it wouldn't be in his eyes but it turned out adorable! My daughter, 3.5, has sensory issues. We went to this salon today and had an amazing experience. Our stylist was patient and considerate, and helped my daughter so much! She explained each step to my daughter so she could be prepared. She allowed me to cover my daughter's ears while she used the blow dryer (and worked around my arms and hands to do so.). And she left with a very adorable bob as well. All the staff was courteous and professional. I love Pam! She is absolutely amazing. I am a hairstylist in DuPont circle but did not have the patience to cut my sons hair when he was 2 so I took him to this salon. The price is good (we charge $35 at my salon for a child's cut). Pam is quick, great with kids and does a 5 star haircut! My sons father took him to a different stylist here once and she did not do as good of a job but when his hair grew back a bit I took him back to Pam and she fixed him right up! Although I think he will sit still for me now (he is now 3 1/2) I enjoy taking him up there and having Pam cut it, less stress on me and he enjoys going up there. read more

As an abstract concept, a kid-centric hair salon seems like an unnecessary, and perhaps a rather silly, extravagance -- something that addresses a first world problem if there ever was one. Pre-child, I would have lumped it together with princess-themed birthday parties as "what I would never do if *I* have a child." What I have learned very quickly in the past few months, though, is that a parent picks and chooses her battles. $18 for a simple bit of snipping may sound like a lot, but not having to have another wrestling match with your babe that ends in tears for everyone? Priceless. What I liked about P&C: bright, clean waiting area -- there are good quality toys (wooden blocks, train sets, activity cubes), books, kid-friendly videos and cheerfully colored furnitures; playful, cheerful ambiance overall -- the little car stations are just darling; friendly stylists -- I was impressed by how composed our stylist remained even when our babe began to melt down. What I didn't care for as much: glitzy hair products, nail polish stations for little girls; overly obvious schemes to milk $$ out of parents. Summary: great for young toddlers, but I'd think twice before setting my foot in there with an impressionable 5 year old girl. read more

We are coming from Southern MD, and didn't know what to expect driving to Annapolis. It was super easy to take 301 and 50. This is the best place for toddler/ little kid haircuts! The kids get to pick if they want to sit inside of an airplane, fire truck, police car, or a train! They always play great children's movies while you wait. They will give unlimited animal crackers while they get their haircuts! My son absolutely hates getting his hair cut. He is 22 months old and has already gotten his first hair cut. I had taken him a few weeks back to another hair place that isn't as kid friendly and it was not a pleasant experience. Not that this other place did anything wrong....they just weren't as good working with kids who fuss. Needless to say he didn't get his hair cut that day. I took him to pigtails this past week with a little bit of hesitation, on my part. I just knew how bad he was before so I really had no expectations. Everyone was so friendly when we got there and there was plenty of toys to distract him. He managed to hold out a few minutes before hating the experience, but at least this time, the staff here knew how to handle it. With the help of two wonderful employees I was able to leave with my son who had less hair :) Money wasn't an issue for me. They knew what they were doing and had good control of him. The haircut was only okay. Not sure if this was because my son was a monster or what. I would recommend them to friends with kids. read more

I feel like they did not trim as much as I wanted but hey maybe she just was not able to. I thought the stylist was very nice and did her best. The receptionist gets 4 stars, she could make my upset baby smile. Yes, it's $17ish for a toddler cut. Since I'd reverted to trying to cut it in his sleep to avoid the squiggles and tantrums, I'd have paid twice that! This place is top quality. Hairdressers are friendly with parents and great with the kids! Plenty of separated waiting spaced with movies playing, toys , etc. The older kids can play video games during their cuts. Mine opted to be a taxi driver. Greatest concept, executed to perfection. The ONLY thing that some people may balk as is the massive amount of merchandise out for kids to beg mommy to buy. Other than that, I can't think of one bad thing. I even used the restroom. Super clean. I didn't have an appointment on a BUSY day, waited maybe 20 minutes if that. Can't rave enough! Tuesdays you get a double punch on your frequent haircut card. Just go! You won't regret it. Your kids will think they just got to play as a treat! read more

Cute spot specifically tailored for kiddos. There is a waiting list however you can call ahead of time to get your kiddos' name on the list ahead of time. We came in around 11am on a Saturday and called ahead of time. They estimated a 35 min. By the time we showed up, there were a lot of kids however we waited less than 5 min. We had Ashley who was super sweet and patient. You get a discount for bdays and apparently as a first time customer (which we didn't know last time so we missed it). Tabitha was amazing with my 1.5 year old son. He really didn't make it easy for her but she cut his hair so quickly. I had no expectations of how the day would go, especially during COVID when my son only sees his parents. It was his first haircut so he was a mess, seriously screaming at the top of his lungs. She was flexible and by the time it was over he just wanted to go back in the police car chair. Other stylists even helped calm him down. It was truly a group effort that we just laughed through. Sad that I actually had to create a Yelp account to leave a negative review but the experience was that horrendous. We took my son for his first hair cut and first mistake was they had the stylist who was on her first day cut my son's hair. They even told us during the cut when another stylist was telling her how to cut my son's hair that it was our stylists first day. We wanted the entire first haircut experience and had nothing but utter disappointment. We said we just wanted a little cut off the front and she cut way too much off to start. I don't cut hair but even I know you can cut more off but you can never put it back on. Now there's no turning back. Then, they didn't sweep the floor before my son's cut so there was already hair on the floor from the previous child. I picked up my son's hair off his cape and put it on the counter to separate ours from what was already there. At the end of the butchered cut (see photos) the stylist proceeded to pick up the other child's hair and mix it in a baggie with my son's hair that I sat off to the side and she gave it to us as part of the first haircut package. It was just altogether surreal that this was our first child's first haircut experience. For the photo part of the package we had to wet my son's hair and push it to the side to hide how bad the cut was. It was a nice place and my wife actually wanted to give them another chance but I would never set foot if this is how they think their best business practice for a first haircut should be. The worst part to me was the staff kept saying they swept before my son sat down but I have the photo before they even started to cut my son's hair because of course on a first haircut you start taking photos as soon as they put the cape on (even before). Yet they still tried to pass thick curled hair on the floor as my son's hair when he is only 12 months old and has thin straight lighter hair. Be warned. There were a lot of people in there, so I thought we may have to wait a little while. To my surprise there was no wait. We were taken right away and told to pick any chair we wanted. My son really wanted the AA Co Police car so we sat there. Unfortunately my son was much more excited to drive the car than he was to get his haircut. When the stylist came over and started trimming his hair he started crying and he continued to do so the entire haircut. I felt so bad for the stylist, but she seemed to be an old pro at cutting a screaming child's hair. She was great. The receptionist came over, as well, and blew bubbles for him to calm him down.
