I was on vacation last month and went back to my former home state to do something active and fun lo and behold: Capital SUP. I have been going to this business for years and have now been to all 3 locations. The people working here are very friendly and helpful. The location of Quiet Waters is awesome, very serene place. A nice little walk from the parking lot about 10 mins surrounding by beautiful trees and wineberries. Also cool that they have classes and yoga SUP. This was one of the highlights of my trip. This was a great experience. It wasn't too busy (reserved kayaks that morning only but didn't seem like we needed to). Check in was very quick, and we brought our own life jackets, so no sort through the loaners to find one. The other people who were in the area that day were considerate and it seemed like everyone had enough room to enjoy a relaxing and fun time on the water. The roller ramp for the kayaks into the water made launching so easy, and would definitely be a reason to come back to this specific location! read more

Another chill day on the water. Quiet Waters is definitely an appropriate name for this spot. My partner & I reserved a 2-person kayak for an early morning getaway. It was perfect weather; we got on the water before the sun came out. There were plenty of others on paddle boards and kayaks, but it wasn't crowded. This is a nice spot. Just rented a pedal boat from Capital Sup and let me tell you, that thing is basically a water-based CrossFit class. I thought I was in shape until I met that pedal boat. We reserved two single kayaks for an hour on a Saturday morning and had a blast. It was a little pricey, but the staff were great, the kayaks were nice, it was peaceful, the view was lovely, and we would totally do it again. Definitely worth a try if you're near Quiet Waters Park! read more

Hidden treasure in Annapolis. I am almost afraid to review it in that it's the only place that is never sold out for kayaks and stand-up boards during a Saturday afternoon during the summer. Adorable little walk up and easy to navigate shack quickly gets you into a vest and onto the water. With tons of spaces to cruise among beautiful houses and yachts on the quieter part of the river next to the checkout it is an easy and gentle paddle for those who are new to kayaks. For those a little more experience you can set out onto the harbor opening out to the Chesapeake Bay where large yachts, speed boats, and jet skis dominate the water creating tons of waves and a little bit of a workout for those arms. Lots of people jumping in and enjoying the water, music blasting from boats and yachts, and a little quietness for a sip of something you brought along,-- along with your sunblock a hat and some good times. Actual experience kayaking with them was fine, however after filling out the waiver on their electronic system one day ago my husband has been getting endless phones calls and text messages related to contracting, windows, leaf removal etc. We are certain it was from this system because he didn't capitalize his last name as he normally would and these companies are texting him with that exact grammar on his name. Located in the back part of the parking lot by the water park in a little hut, Paddle or Pedal offers both bikes and kayaks for rental. I ended up coming here twice in two days. The first for kayaking which was a ton of fun and very reasonably priced compared to places in larger cities. The guy working who I've since forgotten the name was incredibly friendly and helpful in ensuring you had everything you needed and felt comfortable kayaking. He was a no-nonsense kind of guy who only told you what you needed to know based on your experience. That's always nice :) The rates are good and all the kayaks and bikes are all well maintained and appeared to be pretty new. In addition to the kayaks and bikes they actually have rental paddleboarding which is something I haven't seen much of. Overall the experience was great and it was a fun and perfect way to see the area. read more

Kayaking, is my zen, and Quiet Waters is the perfect place to hit the water. You have several options and nice vistas to peddle, SUP, canoe or paddle, which can be done in the hr. depending on vigor. The owners friendly and they are accommodating, but I suggest launching from the launch pad if your legs are shaky vs side stepping from the dock, or asking for some help. I've been coming here for years now, to relax. Your best bet is to park by the pavilion near the welcome center, gallery and gardens...it's about a 5min walk on the trail from there. $15 single, $20 for double kayak for the hr. Check the schedule, but I believe they are Closed on Tuesdays at Quiet waters. Dogs welcome to SUP, and Kayak. Several locations. Low key, I'm the mayor so put your back into it. read more

A beautiful trip out in the water. Staff was friendly and we go back every year. parking is easy and the time spent is super relaxing!

This is a hidden gem and I'm so glad I found it! I love kayaking with my dog and and Paddle or Pedal is one of the best kayaking experiences I've had in the area. Friendly, quick, and accommodating customer service. They even had treats and water for my dog and didn't mind hanging onto my daypack that I brought with me. I can't say enough about how awesome this place is! I only rent from them as they have a large variety to choose from, including paddle boats! The launch ramp is amazing & makes it so easy to get in & out. They open @ 10am & the park is closed on Tuesdays & there is a fee to enter so plan ahead. The rental accepts credit cards which is a plus, but I'm not sure if the park does as I have a pass. The coves are so wonderful to paddle to as I always see birds, even a bald eagle, my favorite! They even had sunscreen & bug spray at the counter to use when I was there! The staff is very kind & helpful & have tip jars so make sure you have some cash as they really deserve it. I just wish they opened when the park opens. That would be truly THE BEST! Enjoy! read more

We loved everything about our experience here. It was a slow day in October. So slow, in fact, that the "official" at the entrance to the park thought PoP was closed for the season. We were happy to find it open, and still manned by a crew of one. I wish I knew his name (the owner), but regardless, he was so sweet, so casual, and he made our time there wonderful. The kayak trip was short (about an hour), but we still had time to cruise around all the beautiful dockside homes and see some beautiful wildlife. read more

Great place. I came down with a couple of friends from Baltimore to get some time on the water and just enjoy being outside. What a nice place. They rent single and double kayaks as well as paddle boards and peddle boats. They rent boats by the hour and for half and full days. Their prices are very fair and their boats, paddles and PFD's are in great shape. PFD's are available for kids and the staff members are very helpful. The water's around the park are a lot of fun to explore and they over varied experiences from marshy areas to the Chesapeake Bay. It was a blast to paddle around and explore the area! Love taking my dog kayaking or paddle boarding here... Friendly staff, well taken care of equipment and it's all located in a beautiful very pet friendly park! We go every couple of weeks and it really is something I look forward to so relaxing and so fun. The water in the area is pretty calm unless the wind kicks up... All in all it's a very easy place to learn kayaking or paddle boarding they also have paddle boats, canoes and other water sports equipment. Love this place! It's like a little hidden gem. Been here twice, most recently to celebrate Mother's Day with a family kayaking trip. No line, plenty of boats, reasonable price. We got 2 tandem sit-in kayaks, 1 adult and 1 child in each. One hour was plenty of time to paddle around the creek and enjoy the beautiful views and weather. They sell Popsicles, too, for a treat afterwards. My kids loved it! read more
