My grandchildren encouraged me to give a yelp review towards their experience at this store. 1. The hot deli bar is great, with a delicious variety of entrees and side dishes. They'd rather get a meal from here than at a restaurant. The sweet potato casserole is THE best!! 2. The staff, whether at the deli or clerks throughout the store, are very friendly and helpful. 3. The store seems to be clean inside and outside. We really like going to this store rather than Walmart or Food Lion down the road. read more

I've been a customer of Piggly wiggly in swansboro for many many many years. I probably spent on an average 6 to 800 a month on groceries. I usually frequent that store everyday. I am very well known some of the staff will speak and say hello because they know me. Some of the younger kids when I'm grocery shopping I'll tell them go get a drink and a snack it's on me and I'll purchase it for them. Piggly wiggly is like any other store price wise things have gotten expensive of course they have it's the economy. Well yesterday I stopped in or swansboro pig we wiggling I was with a friend of mine and my friend said hmm I normally don't shop there because their meats have gone up it's expensive. I said well that's my hometown store we're just going to run in for a few things so upon entering the store I know it's hell very cold it was you can almost see your breath I was freezing come to find out the heat went out no big deal things happen. So as I went to the Express checkout I was waited on by someone who I thought was a very nice person we've actually had conversations we've talked about a lot of things I know everyone in there and they all are pretty well pleasant. Well there's a girl who works the express all her name is cresha.. upon checking out my groceries I said Jesus it's cold in here she said yeah the heat went out I said I gathered that it's pretty chilly I paid for my groceries she bagged them up and my friend right behind me she rang up his bill his bill came to 35 but he can't hear that well so he handed her 25 so jokingly to him who always says pig is very expensive I looked at him and I said geez Bob you know good and well it's more than that you're in Piggly wiggly it's expensive.. we both laughed that was between him and I jokingly. Well the cashier blew up at me she told me that she was tired of me complaining and that I need to go to Walmart or food Lion and not to come back to that store again.. and she yelled and I was floored I couldn't believe she would speak that way to me or any other guest plus it wasn't a conversation I was having with her it was an inside joke between me and my friend who refuses to shop there but I talked him into it cuz we were getting a few items. It upset him so bad he said this is the unprofessional place Ellen no way with Lowes food Walmart or food Lion ever have an employee talk to anyone the way that she just blasted you and told you not to come back to Piggly wiggly.. very disrespectful and so so unprofessional. She was complaining that they open from 12:00 to 4:00 cuz we had a snowstorm and how ridiculous it was just to open for those short hours I assume by her attitude she was called into work. Everybody has their bad days I worked in hospitality I could tell you the things that I sucked up and tried to make it right for people after all the money I'm spending in that store is paying some of their wages.. it was a terrible experience and I'm pretty sure I'm taking my 8 9 $1,000 a month food purchasing to food Lion read more

Got to be the worst managed store I've seen! Produce pathetic, cash back always no help, Dairy poor selection.

Convenient, had everything we needed! Wished there are Piggly Wiggly's where we love.

NEVER AGAIN!!! My husband & I drove 30mins to try the store restaurant. Boy was that a mistake! The food was not good & one of the girls working in the kitchen sat on the prep table & propped her feet across the isle way on another table!!!! stay away!!!!! read more

I don't understand why people don't like this store. It's a local grocery with a local feel. I always stop and stock up on North Carolina pork products and local grits. Every stop, someone had struck up a conversation and it reminds me of the Piggly Wiggly of my childhood. I love the place and I will always stop to get my goods! read more

I run into The Pig to grab a few groceries for this evenings meal and some extras. When I arrived home and taking the items out I noticed that I didn't have the hamburger, yes, that I paid for as well as the receipt to prove it. I called and spoke with a lady that answered and told her the situation. She asked the cashier if anything had been left at her register in the past few minutes and she replied no. The lady stated that the manager, Wendy B, would not allow me to go get another item in question. Now I understand if everyone did that they would be out of business. I guess an honorable customer is no exception to the rule. It's not the money, it's the principal of the matter... I don't know where the hamburger is, maybe a hamburglar, or cashier got it but it's a sad day when your local supermarket won't honor a customers word. My last day shopping at The Pig! read more

Piggly Wiggly is our neighborhood market and a part of our community. The staff are generally friendly and helpful, there is an old school butcher, they promote local products and produce, and offer items that can't be found in the big fancy grocery stores. What prompted me to write this review is that in the face of a CAT 4 hurricane, when stores 200 miles away had empty shelves and there was no water to be found into the next state, our home town Piggly Wiggly not only had bread and water trucked in to support our community, they were there working hard WITH A SMILE and a kind word. And when all the other stores closed up (including McDonald's and Taco Bell and gas stations), they were open serving food and making sure people had a place to shop while they worked hard preparing their homes for the storm. They not only have a hometown feel, they are ON the home team. Go Pig! Stickin' with the Pig. read more

Today I purchased Bota Box wine that was on sale from $17ish on sale from $22ish. My receipt showed $28. I caught the error and was refunded $11. Please check your receipts at thus store. Management did not seem apologetic by this significant pricing error or directing anyone to correct the error. read more

We shop here for the meats selection. They still have a butcher and you can even order a whole hog for a pig picken. Steak selection is always great as well as the pork. The produce is iffy. Huge frozen food section. This is just a old country grocery store. Nothing flashy here. read more

The first thing I told my husband was the place smelled rancid! Poor selection, dark inside, out of food, rotten produce, the lunch meat smelled of poop. Flies were everywhere. Never again. read more

It's clear that the owners of the store do not put any profits into fixing up the store. The first thing you notice is the awful smell when you walk through the doors. None of the employees seem very happy to be there. I ONLY go there if I absolutely have to. read more

I'm very disappointed with the kitchen section they don't know how to properly run a kitchen for the lunch crowd. They purposely make just enough food just so they can run out! Really dissatisfied. And disappointed. They need a real cook in there that knows what they are doing. Oh wait they let her go because she was supposedly to nice to customers. Never going back they have lost my business! read more

99% of the employees are great. They have one that hates the world and it shows!!! The meat is the best in onslow county and the products are North Carolina local suppliers, which is the only grocery store anywhere that has that priority. read more

Like some of the others have said, the employees are unfriendly and seem to only be their for a pay check ! I go rarely, and sometimes eat in the restaurant------some of the restaurant workers are friendly, but one is a plain B----h ! Yes, the store need a make over and with all the new grocery store popping up in the area, I think they could be in trouble ! These new grocery stores will surely take some of Piggly Wiggly workers !!!!!!! read more

Have bought frozen biscuits there twice, each time they would not rise in oven, indicating they have been thawed and refrozen, The in-date bagged lettuce's are frequently brown, indicating being un-refrigerated to long. The various fresh chicken frequently looks bad, I wonder about the temp. Waiting for Wal-Mart. read more
