I was reared in NC but have been living in the NYC metro area for the last 30 years. I am now retired and have moved back to the area. This Harris Teeter is the closest grocery store to where I live. I have to admit, my first shopping trip to this store was only because I used to shop at Harris Teeter in Greenville, NC when I was going to college. After shopping their twice I signed up for their e-VIC card to save a few dimes on filling up my car only to discover the nearest BP was on Atlantic Beach or Newport. No big deal, I used to drive miles to fill up my car up north. So I have been shopping at this store for while. What I have notice is the employees of the store are very helpful. Also, where I could spend thirty minutes or more waiting in line to check out up north, employees of this store work diligently to make check out quick and painless even to the point of accepting an old man telling them how to bag his groceries. They will open up a new register quickly. And I have never had to wait long to be checked out. And they make every effort to have someone bag as well speeding up the process. We have been shopping in This Store sense it opened , and have always been pleased with the quality of service and product . We have bought the Ribeye steak from the Cutters at least once a week, however the quality of their ribeye has changed in the last couple of weeks . I understand wanting to be safe and being concerned about the safety of their customers but not to allow returns is unacceptable. They can throw the products away if they are concerned about transmitting a virus. If they were really concerned their sanitizer dispensers would remain filled and they would have a no return policy as a billboard as you enter the store not at the costumer service station in small print. Trader Joes, Lowes, Wal-Mart, Food Lion ALL accept returns. Greedy, greedy, greedy...is what I say about Harris Teeter! read more

I've bought "fresh" shrimp here twice now and both times after only 6 hours in refrigeration they're slimy and smell like an unflushed toilet. Not worth the extra you pay for "quality". I previously reviewed and gave this store a five star rave review. What has happened to its produce department? It's a disgrace. The last two occasions on which I have shopped on both there were moldy bagged lemons-and on the first occasion there were only bagged, not single, lemons available for purchase. The green peppers were puckered and clearly had seen better days. And today I was hard pressed to find a bagged grapes without alot of spoiled product. I didn't find similar problems throughout the store but the deficiencies in produce are going to drag the whole store down. read more

The only Harris Teeter that rarely ever has sushi. I work next door and it's the quickest place to get sushi and other places I've lived they are always fully stocked except this one. In the last months more than 10 times I've came here and there is no sushi. read more

By far the nicest, well-stocked and cleanest grocery store in Carteret County. Great weekly sales; rarely out of sale items unlike competitors (especially Lowe's). Happily issue a raincheck if they are out of an item. I have found customer service to be excellent. The checkout people are very friendly. The stock people will gladly go check in the back for items. Bakery has beautiful cakes; never any hassles when ordering a special occasion cake. Deli has a very nice selection. Delicious Harris Teeter prepared foods in the deli as well. Also has the best selection of "gourmet ingredients" in the area. Only "complaint" I have is I would like to see a salad bar in this store. THe Harris Teeter in New Bern has a great salad/soup bar. read more
