My medication needed to be filled the 29th. Of course, y'all don't have it so I'm told it'll be ordered & ready after 5pm today, Dec 1st. Not I'm being told due to the holiday that y'all are pushing everyone's prescriptions back a few days. So, it's acceptable for you to make me wait 4 days for your convenience? Great store, nice staff, better than normal international sections and foods from more parts of the world than most stores have. The checkout staff is always helpful and fast. Now, the deli section, they have all the best brands that top relies use, and sell them below what everyone else charges for even lower quality brands. The deli could stand on its own outside of the store, they make great sandwiches with more generous meat, cheeses and vegetables than the best deli's in town. This 'restaurant' made me cook my own dinner at home! To start off when we walked up to be seated they handed us a cart and told us to pick-out what we'd like from the shelves. I thought that was a bit weird, but hey I am a bit new to this.. After walking up and down the place for what seemed like an hour we got everything into the eating cart and took it to where the I thought the chefs were, or at least where everyone else was going with their eating cart. We rolled our cart up to the counter, and I told the man in the vest (clearly the head chef) that we were ready for our meal. He didn't say a word! Just started dragging everything across this flat little platform like he was checking my ingredients into the afterlife or somethin. When he finished, he said "That'll be $163.57" I thought it was a bit low class to have to pay for your meal first, but not unheard of so I nodded and paid. The chef gave me my change (once again, weird right?) and after awhile of just staring at me I finally asked when our food would be ready. He pointed to the bags and said, "You can take it and go now, please man I got other customers." I was so aghast and stunned that I actually listened and did just what he told me to. Apparently at this place you're expected to plate and cook everything yourself, and at your own table at home! Very avant-garde... On the way out, a nice lady in a green apron asked if we "found everything okay," which is honestly the bare minimum for table service alone. My family tried to tell me this might not have been a real restaurant, but I politely explained to them that this is probably just how fine dining works in the big cities these days. I got used to going to Publix from southern states. I loved the variety they had and that I could get fresh fruits and vegetables. I was excited to see one here in North Carolina! Unfortunately, I haven't had the best experience at this one! I've had to return food/drinks twice now due to MOLD!! The first time was individual cheese packets that wasn't supposed to expire for three more months!! The second time, I had to return orange juice that had mold under the cap and blackberries that had mold hidden underneath a few on the top! Very unfortunate because this used to be my go to grocery store; however, I will be shopping elsewhere now! read more

Very nice, clean Publix. Meat dept is excellent. Publix has a butcher too. Wonderful International foods aisle that is stocked with Jamaiican foods and drinks as well as Latin American food specialties (now Dux crackers and Cuban crackers). Coffee aisle has wide range of Hispanic coffees. Bakery now has pastelitos de guayaba and guayaba y queso turnovers as well as apple turnovers. Awesome fresh bread. Staff members are so helpful and nice. Bogos are awesome. Love this place. read more

Publix has come to North Carolina. While in Jacksonville, North Carolina on business I came across a Publix that has opened here roughly six months ago. The staff is, as expected in a Publix, extremely polite and friendly. I like how they did the deli, it is not so much against a wall, but more like a kiosk in a prominent area of the store. Considering how people love their Publix subs (or pub subs as they are affectionately known), it makes sense and a nice presentation. I also like how they had an elevator leading to a second story cafeteria style seating area for those who want to eat their sub or other food item on premises. The supermarket part is great, as well. Publix is known for their buy one, get one free deals (BOGO's) and the store had plenty to offer. I recommend this supermarket, whether for a sub or your supermarket deal. read more

Two weeks consecutive, same type of meal from the deli. I will tell the tale of one man and the service at one place. Sub sandwiches and olive bar. Two different experiences. I am not going to name any names so here we go. Last week I ordered a sub and the service was great with no drama. It was a Chicken Cordon Blue sub. The gentleman behind the counter was organized and asked the right questions to get my sandwich order processed. The selections at the olive bar were also plentiful. I rounded off my meal with refreshing Arnold Palmer tea and lemonade. Over all the deli was not very busy at the sandwich line and the one guy did it all efficiently. Today I ordered a sub and the service was strained. It was a Jerk Turkey sub. The Jerk Turkey is a menu item sandwich and features Chipotle Gouda cheese and bacon. The gentleman behind the counter started out by asking me what cheese I wanted and if I wanted bacon. These are not the right questions to get my sandwich order processed. He may as well have asked me if I wanted roast beef, pastrami, or meatballs on my Jerk Turkey sub. Because those items are not on the sandwich menu listed under the Jerk Turkey sub. You know what is listed on the sandwich menu under the Jerk Turkey sub? Chipotle Gouda cheese and bacon were expected and I was confounded as to why I was being asked if I wanted those items on my sandwich. The selections at the olive bar were the same as last week as far as I could tell. I rounded off my meal with the same refreshing Arnold Palmer tea and lemonade. This time the deli had a line five customers deep when I arrived. The deli was busy at the sandwich line and there were two people working the sandwich line. Over all this one person was the reason the sandwich line was so long and each sandwich took as long to make. If this guy was not a trainee then he acted like he had never made sandwiches before. The really nice part about the Publix deli is the Publix cafe upstairs where you can eat your food. You can look out over the aisles in the store while you eat. It's a Monday afternoon and there are PLENTY of shoppers here stocking up from being holed up inside from Hurricane Dorian. All the produce and meat as well as ready to eat foods are to the right of the market. So basically, all the healthy stuff is on the right. Convenient! Not so convenient, are the organic sections. There are tiny organic subsections within each section and I do mean tiny. The prices are slightly more expensive than their competitors, but their selection is good. They do need to mark their organic selections more clearly. There were many BOGO deals but you have to be careful about getting the exact item. I picked up four packs of Greenwise chicken breast since it was a BOGO offer. When it rang up, it didn't automatically give me the discount. One of the gals there walked me to customer service to fix the problem. They looked up the ad and it clearly stated BOGO greenwise chicken breast which is exactly what I bought. The customer service rep said I bought greenwise chicken breast filets and those weren't on sale. Since when was there a difference? There are thighs, tenderloins and breasts... that's it. So I thought that was deceiving and time consuming. They gave me the discount anyway but it wasted 10 minutes of my time since they were training another gal. While shopping, I spoke a guy who told me he could attempt to order any meat they didn't already have. I requested organic grass fed livers and gizzards. He didn't promise anything but would call one way or another. Love how they have grass fed beef and organic chicken and at fair prices. There are many folks serving up samples. I sampled a cookie, chocolate covered pretzels, and a blackberry hoisin chicken. I asked the lady what kind of blackberry sauce she used. She pointed at the hoisin sauce bottle. I asked again thinking she misheard me. She said the blackberries are in the hoisin sauce and told me to look at the recipe card. Being Chinese and having owned a Chinese restaurant I know for a fact hoisin sauce does not contain blackberries and never will. When I told her hoisin sauce doesn't have blackberries, she ignored me and continued to pass out samples. I was honestly confused. The recipe card states it uses frozen or fresh blackberries. Mystery solved. Their employees need some help in the service department. One should know what ingredients are used when serving a dish. In this age where food allergies are rampant, knowing exactly what you're cooking and serving is paramount. read more

The Publix deli in Jacksonville NC is so inconsistent. I go in this Publix and order the same exact thing from the deli line and every time the price or menu changes. I went to get a salad three times this month and every single time I was given a different price. I have gotten to the point where I take a picture of the label on my salad. It's obvious that management is not training their employees to all be on one accord. I don't have this problem with no other Publix in NC. read more

I'm from South Florida and I've shopping at Publix my whole life. The store is beautiful but the deli is nowhere the standard of Publix. I was there mid morning and there were no customers there ahead of me. I waited 7 minutes for someone to even acknowledge me, let alone ask what I wanted. There was about 5 people working there. Finally someone came over and I told him. He said he was sorry and said she was "new". That is absolutely no excuse. Publix has very high standards. You'd never know it by this deli. read more

Upscale Florida-based, employee owned mega grocery Publix opened its first Jacksonville location today, 9/4/19 to massive throngs of customers just in time to close tomorrow in anticipation of the arrival of Hurricane Dorian. Storm prepping shoppers were treated to a warm welcome with samples aplenty and dozens of extra employees pulled in from all over to ensure a smooth operation under the unusual circumstances. Publix in turn, was treated to packed aisles, and cash registers that might well have been hot to the the touch from sheer friction given the speed and volume of the pre-storm shopping. As to the store itself, well, it's as beautiful a grocery as I've ever seen and certainly sets a new, higher standard for the community in terms of both size and appearance. While that size may not make for the quickest in and out when you've got to make the 100 yard dash to the back of the store for milk and are wondering if there's an Uber available to get you from the deli on one side to the pharmacy in the other, it's a lovely journey of meticulously displayed everyday and a bit upscale inventory, including deli, in-house "scratch bakery", demonstration kitchen, pharmacy, event planning, and catering, plus online shopping, and delivery services via Instacart. My few samplings gave me the impression of bakery and deli prepared foods superior to those of the several nearby groceries, but then everything is fresh, novel, and more interesting when you're zero days old and striving to make an impressive first appearance. Publix most certainly made a great first impression, but keep in mind there is of course a cost for all that splendor in the aisles that has to be passed on to the customer. It might not be true throughout the store, but prices on at least a couple items that I knew the cost of elsewhere were significantly higher here, so compare and beware if budget is a consideration. All in all however, Publix is a welcome, upscale addition but don't expect warehouse pricing. read more

I ordered a cupcake pull apart cake for my daughter's birthday . The vale of course had pink frosting . Prior to making the order I asked if their pink frosting had that nasty bitter taste . I was told on two separate occasions by two different people that the pink frosting did not have a bad taste and that the darker colors like black, grey and brown were the ones that had that taste . I ordered extra cupcakes as well because I have a family full of cake lovers that I was going to send cupcakes home to . When everyone bit into the cupcakes we all gagged . My daughter hated her cupcake along with the rest of us because of the nasty taste from the frosting . 3/4 of the cupcakes purchased were thrown away and I am embarrassed by the reaction on everyone's face when they tasted the frosting. I have purchased several cakes from Publix and I've never had anything like this happen. I will not be ordering cakes from Publix again! read more

Went once just to see what's with the hype for the grand opening. Well, I never look at prices when I shop. I'm willing to pay more just to get away from chaotic mess at Walmart but when I went there, I noticed everything were marked up more than their competitors. Chicken were not fresh. Salad had orange stuff and liquid in it. The staff there asked me multiple times if I needed help. Which is fine I get it, they're supposed to ask. I'm assuming they have a secret shopper program or something? I Don't Know but it came off as disingenuous and pesky. It seemed as though they were trying to get themselves together. While I was there, there was a guy putting his produce up and organizing. I mean, during rush hour when a lot of folks are there trying to shop? They should figure out the best time to stock. The environment reminded me of Walmart. Overall I think it was just ok. It wasn't as pleasant as Lowes Foods shopping experience for the overly priced items. read more

If I had written a review on this location and business all together two years ago they'd have five stars and all my praises. Customer service has gone down hill in the last year alone (apart the few who I've seen stick through it since the opening of this store location) and I get that times are hard but it went from there's no other store I'd shop at, to I'll just do an instacart order or only go in if I absolutely need to. I just bought $275 worth of groceries which again, would have been $100 cheaper two years ago and it just keeps getting worse and worse with Publix's prices. I used to justify spending extra money because of the quality of products. In this past year alone I've gotten sour creams with the seal still on and the shelf date not even close filled with mold, had "fresh" raw meat literally spoil and turn brown and smell within TWO DAYS this week. I bought meat on Tuesday evening and by Thursday morning when I went to take it out of the fridge it was sludgy and brown. Not just one of the meats I bought that day, ALL THREE. Produce that used to last me a week sometimes more spoils and rots within a day and sometimes I've taken it home only to open it and find mold filled fruit in the container. It is not my refrigerator either because I've gotten food from other stores lately and even bought local from dairy and meat farms and the food is fine. Breads made by the bakery dry up and mold even faster no matter how well I take care of it. Quality of the food here has gone down low and no one should have to pay $100 extra for their food necessities to go bad before they even get to consume them in 48 hours. Do better Publix, I really enjoyed being a shopper here but it looks like I'm gonna have to go out of my way to other locations with less options to get my families food to last and not pay an arm and a leg to just throw it away. read more
