If you are looking for a total nightmare of an installation job then sure, call these guys. If you are looking for a contractor who hires COMPETENT employees, then go elsewhere. Run elsewhere.
We have an awesome contractor who was doing our midcentury kitchen remodel. He and his men did a beautiful job. Absolutely. Unfortunately we had to hire PIETRA GRANITI to install the very specific countertops we wanted, as that manufacturer (Caragreen, Durat) only works with its authorized "fabricators." Our beautiful aqua countertops should have been installed by Pietra Graniti in about 3 hours, per Mario's initial consult with us. His office person told us the materials would be available 2 weeks after we signed the contract and paid the 50% deposit. WRONG. Even though Pietra Graniti was well aware of the exact color countertop we were ordering, we found out 2 weeks into the wait that the color-coordinated adhesive had to be shipped from Canada and would be an additional 2 weeks. First strike: putting our own excellent contractor on hold for over 3 WEEKS (and leaving our kitchen useless for an extra 3 weeks) while the special glue shipped from Canada. Time = Money, people.
When the day finally arrived for Pietra G. to install our countertops, the team that Mario sent over scratched & banged up the countertop, thoroughly botched the installation, and left our kitchen in an absolute state of disaster. Sawdust and debris all over the kitchen floors, they did not bother to use their wetvac to clean up their own mess. We noticed the SCRATCHES, the CLEARLY VISIBLE SEAMS in the counter, where it should have been invisible, and the hatchet job of patchwork plywood on the underside of the counter overhang. Mario came over to personally inspect the botched install, assured us that he would send a competent team of guys back to fix the job. The second team was 100% worse than the first. These guys had NO IDEA WHAT THEY WERE DOING. They ran a circular sander in our house for 30 minutes without draping off the area with plastic, which (1) made the counter surface much, much worse; and (2) left the first floor of our house coated in a layer of countertop dust.
After an additional 2 WEEK wait to reorder materials (that glue from Canada again!), Mario himself finally came back and took out the first countertop and installed a new one.
So: 5-6 weeks wait, and 3 days we took off of work (just for the countertop) so that Pietra Graniti could do a job that should have been completed in 3 hours after about a 2 week wait.
And then they had the nerve to bill us for the Installation charges.
The countertop manufacturer, Caragreen/Durat, WILL NO LONGER WORK WITH PIETRA GRANITI after seeing photos of the work they did in our home.
Hire at your own risk. Pietra Graniti = endless headaches, extra time you will have to take off of work, and a lot of money spent that is going to people who have no idea how to complete a job in a professional manner. read more
