Friendly service and lovely Polish food. A large group of us sat outside at the patio at a wonderful evening on a Saturday. It has been very pleasant. The server consistently came to check on us, refill water and put in orders. We tried a number of dishes. Here are my favorites: 1) Hunters stew is my favorite dish. It is a flavorful dish with sauerkraut, sausage and watercress. The sausage tastes delicious and lean. 2) Brisket and truffle pierogi are the best among all the options. I underestimated how filling they are. They ran out of the cabbage dish, though this is one thing I like to try. read more

The food was great but the service was bad! It seems as if my server couldn't have cared less about helping my table. Other tables that arrived after us were sat and had orders placed before our server came to take our order. I was told when I ordered the Pierogi Benedict, "that's not what it's called", but once the server found it on the toast tablet he said, "Oh i guess we do have that..." We were not given silverware nor were we checked on for our entire stay. Not even for a water refill. A bartender walking past noticed we didn't have silverware and got us some. I really didn't think anything of it until we noticed that he was tending to other tables frequently. It seemed intentional at that point. And of course I had to flag him down to pay the bill. Pretty disappointed. read more

They have some interesting pierogi options and other unique menu offerings. I had Roasted Beets & Goat Cheese Pierogis, $14. My husband had the Pierogi Benedict, $16, from their Brunch Menu (daily until 3 PM). I ordered the Dill Pickle Soup, but didn't receive this until the end of our meal so ended up taking most of it to go. Even with the delay in soup, it was a pleasant meal in a nice dining room. read more

Went again for lunch and got the jalapeño & cheddar pierogis. They were great! I also got the Barszcz soup. It was good, but I probably wouldn't get it again for the price. The service was good! Everything came out quickly! Hope to return again. read more

While not every dish sticks to traditional methods (schabowy is deep-fried in oil instead of pan-fried in lard - yes it makes a difference in taste), everything is undeniably tasty and gives that "visiting family" comfort--especially if your family knows how to make a killer sausage. The pierogi, soups, and sausage are standouts, and it's a refreshing change of pace if you're feeling burnt out on the usual routine. This spot offers something different and delicious. read more

Service was fantastic and so were the pierogi's. Everything else we ate was "eh". The kielbasa was dry. The kraut was dry and tasted funny. Go here for pierogi's. That's it. read more

Placed a $60 order for five items. Received two of them. Called and was told that I was out of luck, and they wouldn't do anything about it. I said thanks for nothing and they hung up on me. Oh well, I got my money back, they wasted food, and I won't be back. read more

A bar with borscht. What more could you want? We went on karaoke night and there was a waiter who was really into performing. The rest of us weren't into it but nobody minded that we just wanted to eat and hang out. Oh yes, and the pierogis were delicious and interesting. The staff was delightful and helpful. I would definitely go there again. read more

The polish sausage is ample, excellent, and worth a visit on its own. Skip the truffle fries--meh texture and flavor. Also, boo to the $1.50 fee to use a card; that's the price of doing business. If you insist on passing those costs along, hide them in the menu prices, it would look less petty. read more

Impeccable food! Came in on a Saturday night and were immediately seated. I've been so excited to try this place and get all my household favorites all in one spot. Let me just say--All the food is incredible and this place is going to become a staple for us. Pierogi kitchen serves up six pierogi per order and I dare say, has better pierogi than some of the oldest and most popular Polish restaurants in Chicago. We ordered the potato & cheese, brisket, and truffle pierogi. All three were incredible, but the potato and cheese was an absolute favorite. The truffle pierogi were perfect, slightly greasy, but absolutely a gem. Brisket pierogi were tasty and a twist on "meat" pierogi. Next up we had our classic potato pancakes and bigos. Holy moly the bigos was cooked perfectly, lovely amount of sourness with the sauerkraut. Food was so great that we even ordered more to go! Loved the ambiance and variety of drinks. There's both an indoor and outdoor section. All the food was served on beautiful plates purchased from Poland. All around incredible experience. While we had a good experience, our server almost ruined the experience by blatantly over sharing information at any point she could. She started off the conversation with phrases such as "okey dokey," then kept saying that she didn't know why she was saying them followed by admitting that she was tipsy. Went into a conversation about a different guest there being in her 60's and having great genes. Then she went on to talk about the good genes in her family and showed off photos of her 97 year old grandpa, dad, and brother. It was all around too much. After discussing this experience with another friend who lives in the area, they also mentioned issues of the same server over sharing information when they were there. I would love to come back here but if I would kindly request to have the manager or owner speak to the server and have them not drink on the job and not over share. read more

Absolutely delicious pierogi - the pan fried one is great and I really liked the cheddar jalepeno as well. The pickle soup was also excellent. As for soy allergies, they said the only soy was in the salad dressing, so food was mostly safe for my partner. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service - if we lived in Chicago I would be here all the time! Did they have to bring us a second table for our food on our second visit within a week? You can't prove it... read more

I really enjoyed Pierogi Kitchen!! Found out from our lovely waitress that this spot recently became Pierogi Kitchen and was a BBQ joint before. The drinks were delicious and the food even better!!! Everything was so flavorful and filling. Those brisket pierogis are no joke, you got to try them!!! I was absolutely obsessed with the plates too. This spot was just what I was looking for in this area. I am so excited to see it grow since it is new! Our waitress was awesome too and giving great recs and so personable, ugh I wish i remembered her name. Love it!! read more

Don't usually go for pierogis, but gave it a whirl one night when my boyfriend and I didn't want to cook. We got the truffle pierogis as recommended, and they were a perfect accompaniment to our fried pork sandwich (meat was delicious, sandwich maybe needed more sauce). We topped it off with their beet soup and pickled herring to keep things interesting. Waiter kept forgetting our order but honestly the outdoor ambiance and food kind of made up for it. Overall, would recommend for a chill date night spot, especially in spring or summer! read more

Came here as a party of three Saturday evening. We were seated promptly. The service was decent, little bit slow. Ambiance was homey and cozy, like Pierogi's should taste! We were recommended the Potato Cheese Pierogi's. I ordered them, as well as the Brisket Pierogi's and some fries. Our order of fries was forgotten, but was later brought up and comped. The Pierogi's were the star of the show. Absolutely delicious! Definitely come here for a Pierogi dish, it's in the name! If it was socially acceptable, I would lick my plate. read more

What a great place! The food was delicious. Best pierogi this side of Krakow. Service was great; friendly and low key. Atmosphere was great. Lots of people came as groups. We came earlier around 5:30 on a Thursday night and didn't have to wait. They even had trays of punczki pregaming Fat Tuesday. By the time we were leaving the place was packed. We'll be back for more pierogi and zhurek. read more

Delightful restaurant, tasty food, friendly service. Two of us walked in on Saturday night around 8:00 and were seated right away. We had the beet salad which was very very good. What's in that dressing? I don't know, but I want more. The stuffed cabbage as an appetizer was also very tasty. We tried the cheddar/jalapeño pierogi and the sauerkraut/mushroom pierogi. I'm not a sauerkraut fan but my husband really liked them. I enjoyed the cheddar/jalapeño although they were a bit more doughy than I'm accustomed to. Maybe it was because they were boiled and I often have them a bit pan fried. Either way I'd definitely come back for more and try some other dishes. One slight issue was the music--the volume was perfect but I didn't necessarily expect to listen to the entire Pink Floyd album The Dark Side of the Moon during dinner. A few songs, fine, but the entire album, no. They started playing some other tunes, including Billy Idol just as we were finishing up. read more

I went here for my first time tonight and let me just say WOW! I am a lifelong pierogi fan and consumer and these pierogis were absolutely delightful. I ordered the potato + cheese pierogis and I enjoyed every bite. Our server, Allie, was an absolute pleasure and I hope to have her again next time I'm in because she was simply wonderful. I also really enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant - it was very cozy and welcoming. I'm really excited to come back soon to try their brunch and also to come in for dinner again! Judging by the reviews I had to try this new restaurant. We were greeted by a hand-painted sign that said "Paczki", which got my attention by the outside door. We were greeted by a friendly waitress with water and menus. Considering it was one degree above zero I ordered coffee and my friend ordered hot tea. Still, the waitress said "We don't have coffee right now" and offered me an espresso instead, I decided to take a pass for the moment. Still, she brought my friend her hot tea but didn't have sugar so she brought her a shot glass of "simple syrup" Instead, it struck me as being odd that they didn't have sugar and regular coffee. The waitress came back in a few minutes to take our order, I asked her about the Soup of the Day and she said "Tomato Soup" but we're out right now so I ordered the Zurek Soup which was very good, the broth had a good combination of spices, tasty Kielbasa, hard-boiled and a side order of very good crusty sourdough bread. We both ordered the "Pierogi Benedict" that consisted of a bed of Potato & Cheese Pierogis, Bacon, Poached Eggs, and Breakfast Potatoes. The poached eggs appeared to be "over-easy" and there was little or no Hollandaise Sauce but the breakfast potatoes were very good and a good portion to boot. The pierogies were cooked perfectly along with the bacon bits. I asked the waitress if she could make me a Cappuccino and she said yes and it was very good but I remembered that she didn't have sugar she said that she would see if the kitchen had some and she brought out a half-shot glass full of sugar and I thought why didn't she bring the sugar out when she gave my friend her hot tea instead of simple syrup? We asked her about the Paczkis and she said that the owner would make them fresh but he wouldn't be in until later on. We asked for the check when all of a sudden the owner showed up and the waitress mentioned to him that we asked about the Paczkis, he said he would make one in just a few minutes, well he did just that and brought out the paczki in about 10 minutes and we decided to take it home instead of eating it there. All in all, there were more misses than hits so I won't be going back and the reasons are the following: no coffee, no sugar, no soup of the day, no paczkis that were on the outside sign. They do have a very fresh and clean bathroom. read more

Ordered a few flavors of pierogi, brisket gulasz , Szprota toast, potato pancakes, hunter's stew, stuffed cabbage and a few cocktails. This place needs to HIRE more servers. It can get really busy so they need to spend some extra money on service cuz otherwise they get orders wrong as they did ours. Overall, very good pierogis, maybe the best I've ever had really. Sticky succulence that get stuck on your teeth and leave a pleasant aftertaste. We stopped in for a quick dinner Sunday night and tried a few things. Pierogis tasted authentic! We had the kielbasa with sauerkraut, potato and cheese pierogi, brisket pierogi, mushroom pierogi, and the potato pancakes. Everything was good, but we really enjoyed that kielbasa. The pierogi favorites were potato and cheese and the mushroom ones. The staff is really friendly and it's a nice place. I took leftovers and plan to fry those things up tomorrow! I typically like my pierogis a little crispier, but all and all it was a good Sunday dinner and very fast service! Glad Pierogi kitchen is in the neighborhood. Thank you, cheers! read more

This past Saturday afternoon, I suggested that our group of four have a late lunch at Pierogi Kitchen. It was the first visit for all of us. I had been looking for restaurants in the area because one of our party members was my niece, who lives nearby, and it was her birthday lunch. Pierogi Kitchen caught my eye because it billed itself as a "hipster" Polish restaurant, and as a 70-year-old hipster who is the first-generation son of Polish immigrants, this place seemed perfect. And perfect it was. The food selection was a modern update of traditional Polish dishes like pierogis, potato pancakes, stuffed cabbage rolls (gołąbki), red beet soup, and a kielbasa (Polish sausage) platter. There were, of course, other items on the menu. The food was all freshly prepared on the premises and uniformly delicious. The brisket pierogi were a unique take on the traditional dish. It was much better than other Polish restaurants and, in terms of taste, approached the homemade versions of these dishes that I can recall. The biggest difference from the homemade versions was that these seemed significantly "lighter and leaner" and I suspect were prepared with some "healthier" ingredients. However, they tasted just as good. There were no leftover bags needed as we ate everything! The atmosphere was contemporary and indeed "hipster." We were not overwhelmed with red and white; in fact, nothing was red. Polish jazz album covers occupied a wall near the full-service bar. Our waitress/bartender was Lynnsey, who was a joy to deal with. She was genuine, friendly, and informative. If I lived in the neighborhood and knew she was bartending, I'd stop in and nurse a beer at the bar just to enjoy her conversation. This was a wonderful experience, and I can't wait to go back. The total bill before the tip was $111.86, which included four beers. Using the "biggest bang for a buck" standard, this was incredibly reasonable. If you go, get several dishes and share. A suggestion for the chef: Polish cucumber salad! Hopefully, I'll see it on the menu next time around. read more

Anyone with a bad review must have ordered the wrong thing or came on a bad day. The pierogi are incredible, and super flavorful. I love the truffle, jalapeño, and meat. Those that like sweets will like the sweet cheese too. I haven't tried any food outside of the pierogi, so that may be what people are calling bland. Idk.
