This place was HORRIBLE. The catfish was so fishy tasting. They leave that nasty black dirt strip in. That is was does it. The king crab legs were so over cooked the meat was stuck to the shells. Get this. $49 and you get two. No claws. The gumbo was okay; but some guy was trying to pull it out from under me because I wasn't wolfing it down. The cole slaw tasted more like pimento cheese. What a great addition to the Rockwall food scene! My hubby and I went here today and had a wonderful lunch on the adorable patio. The wooden fence is high to keep out street noise and the picnic tables new. Yet, we still had a great breeze for ventilation. My hubby (who is a catfish snob) ordered the catfish platter and seriously loved it. When Rich (one of the owners came around) my husband told him that it was the best fried catfish fillet (3 to his order) that he had eaten in a long time (he eats catfish every month). The hubs substituted boiled potatoes for the fries and three came to an order which we split. I had the snow crabs boiled in the original boil with lemon/pepper/butter. Wow! Wonderful fresh seafood! They have great raw oysters and on certain nights discounted prices. The restaurant is small but the atmosphere is great. We had my sons graduation dinner on the back porch. We live in Rockwall and pass this place all the time, but never had the time to drop in. We got there on Monday night and had about a 10 minute wait for seating. We realized Monday is All-Day Happy Hour which explained why this place was packed. Anyways, my wife and I sat down and ordered the stuffed mushroom appetizer. It took quite a while to come out, but our server, Morgan, was so nice and apologized for the wait and even removed the appetizer from our check. The mushrooms finally made it and they did not disappoint. We were unsure what to order as our entree, but at Morgan's recommendation we went with the special, Blackened Red Snapper with rice and a side of Bacon Wrapped Shrimp. We also ordered a combo basket with Fried Catfish, Shrimp and French Fries again at Morgan's recommendation. Again, neither dish disappointed and the Red Snapper was great, can't wait to order again. First time here, not terribly impressed. Calamari was good, kinda hard to mess it up. I got the coconut chicken and a bowl of clam chowder. The chicken was hot, but tasted more like the oil it was cooked in. No other flavor. You get four small strips to an order with a handful of seasoned fries. The clam chowder had large pieces of carrot and potato, but little clam. Plus it is so heavily seasoned with herbs it more resembled a chicken stew in taste as the herbs overpowered and drowned out the "seafood" taste. My friend got the blackened red fish, which was overall good. Flakes, clean tasting and not over seasoned. Guess that's what I get for getting chicken at a seafood restaurant. Lol. read more

I come here at least once a week. The food is always great. The crab finger appetizer has to be one of my favorites and I highly recommend it. I had a Happy Hour Mule for 5$ that was really tasty. The mixed grill was excellent. Steak kabob was very tender and seasoned perfectly. The grilled shrimp kabob was delicious as were the Brussels and grilled potatoes. My family originates from Southern Louisiana so Cajun food holds a sweet spot in my heart. I've tried crawfish all over Texas and my favorite place is in east Texas between Quitman and Minneola. I've tried all over Dallas and been disappointed, but recently I discovered Pier 101. I had to go even though their crawfish are double the price of my favorite East Texas restaurant. My wife and I started with a $18 order of crab fingers cooked in a white wine sauce. These were delicious and there was enough to last our entire stay. The French bread that came with it was the perfect mix of crunchy and soft. Next I tried one pound of crawfish, boiled in Cajun seasoning. They were cooked perfectly, easily twisted from the head and pulled from the tail but they were very very bland. I asked if they could strengthen the boil, was told they couldn't. They did add a bunch of seasoning to the bag and shook it extra for my next order but that just made it more messy with very little extra yield. Next I tried a cup of Gumbo, it was good but had a overwhelming flavor that I could not place, maybe thyme or bay leaf? My wife ordered the coconut shrimp and jalapeño hush puppies, those were absolutely perfect. To finish the meal off we had a giant piece of strawberry cheesecake, which was one of the better cheesecakes I've had. To drink I had 2 tall crown and cokes, had to Uber home. Second time I have had to deal with rude employees and a rude manager(working night of 6/10/18) manager needs to work on her attitude and problem solving skills. Food was overall good. Service was meh. The waitress (she never gave her name...brown pony tail) was not friendly at all. She did her job when it came to getting our order, refilling drinks, etc. the problem was, she was gone so fast. I was in the middle of talking to her, looked up and she was gone. Had to wait a few times for her to come back so I could tell her what I needed. The only issue with the food and the decrease in a star was the oysters were lacking taste and the cocktail sauce was gross. Not sure what they put in it, but we order ketchup and made our own with the horseradish and lemons we got with the oysters. The crab claws were very good and so was the sampler. Love this place! The food is delicious and the staff is awesome. My husband and I decided to try this spot Friday for lunch. I had the special which was flounder stuffed with spinach and crawfish-So good! My husband tried the gumbo (yum!) and some oysters. I, personally, gag at the thought of eating an oyster. But my husband loves them and approved of these. Our server was CJ and he was super friendly and attentive. He informed us that Sunday they would be serving shrimp and grits all day (not on the menu), soooo we went back Sunday. Best shrimp and grits I've had. Upon walking in the door the hostess remained on the telephone as 3 other staff members (who looked depressed) passed us up. We patiently waited as the hostess continued her conversation (appeared she was taking a phone order). Finally we got seated and had an amazing waitress. Can't remember her name but she was the only Asian waitress. The food was ok, my mahi mahi was a bit dry and could use a bit more seasoning but the Brussels sprouts with potatoes and bacon was amazing. It was an ok experience but we won't be going back and mainly because After we were seated one of the waitresses that passed us by saw the hostess was on another call and sat the people as they didnt have to wait. Appetizer crab claws were amazing, the butter sauce is crazy good. We had the seafood with pasta, spicy Cajun étouffée and Cajun gumbo. Everybody enjoyed the flavor of their meals. When they first opened the food was much better than now. It seems the quality has gone down just a tad. Crab claws have a great butter and garlic flavor. Salads are just mediocre. Shrimp and crab boil can be hit or miss. Still all worth a try just understand you might not be impressed! read more

I come from the Northeast, so seafood is one of my favorite foods. The calamari was GREAT. It had to have been fresh to be so tender. Only once have I had better, and that was at a private Italo American club in Providence. Only one way to improve the calamari, skip the dips and toss with butter, garlic and hot peppers. I ordered the King Crab legs and they were incredible. A good size portion and perfectly cooked. Sweet and tasty. The presentation and the rest of the food left a bit to be desired. 1 - Not a good idea to deliver the food to the table in the water in which it was cooked. 2 - Don't cook it in water, steam the crab legs, potatoes and corn. 3 - The crab legs shells should be dry. Mine were covered in a slime from the water and butter. It makes an unwieldy meal that much more difficult. I had to take a napkin and dry off the shells. I've had hundreds of lobster boils and crab legs and nobody serves them wet. 4 - The red potatoes were cold. 5 - The corn was mush. I came in with low expectations because seafood and Texas don't really go together. I was quite pleasantly surprised. The food was mostly well cooked and with a couple of tweaks, could be as good as the best in the Northeast. read more

I am beyond disappointed. I've heard great things about this place and I had a mean craving for some crab. So the 3 of us went. We got 2 appetizers: oysters and crab fingers... and they FANTASTIC. The flavor on the crab fingers was soooo good. But then came the meal. My mom and I each got an order of king crab legs at $38/ pound. There were no other sides or anything which isn't completely abnormal. So we got our crab. It was way too over cooked. There was ZERO crack to the shell. It was like rubber (I could bend the shell itself all different ways and no, I am not talking about the joint. I am talking about the leg. The shell. The leg should not bend whatever direction I want it to go without breaking, snapping, cracking or anything) which made it very difficult to break into especially because king crab legs have very sharp spines. The crab Cracker had no effect on the legs. And the crab itself was basically shredded and stuck to the shell. It wasn't firm by any means. Mushy. So of course we told our waitress (who was GREAT might I add, she really was) and she said she would tell the chef (Sunday night around 6pm). This "chef" or manager, never came out to talk with us, nothing. We were told he said "sorry" and that he would "check to see what temperature they were boiled at." Kind of like a "too bad, that sucks, but I'm not going to do anything to make this right" kind of response. Very disappointing to say the least. This place only gets 2 stars because the appetizers were great and our waitress was really sweet. Other than that, the meal was disappointing and they didn't really care. I was meeting a friend for dinner and we opted to try Pier 101 because the restaurant we had planned to go to had a ridiculously long wait. Pier 101 was busy, but not packed. We were seated within ten minutes. The staff was friendly and knowledgable. I ended up trying the fish special and it was pleasantly surprised. The portions were a good size and the seasoning was flavorful, but not over powering. The atmosphere is nice, but it was quite loud with a full restaurant which made conversation across the table a bit difficult. Overall, a very nice place to have dinner. read more

Came here for lunch today. At the time we arrived, we had missed the lunch crowd and there was only one server waiting all the tables. He didn't give us his name but he was warm, friendly and fantastic! We started out with an order of oysters on the half-shell. They were fresh and delicious and a couple were really large! I ordered one of the specials on the board - spicy cajun shrimp enchiladas with cajun rice. It was priced at $13.99 which seemed a little high for a lunch entree but not outrageous. It was tasty. My son ordered the coconut shrimp which came with fries, ketchup and some type of sweet dipping sauce. It was delicious but we had to ask for a second serving of ketchup since they provide it for you rather than putting bottled ketchup on the tables. Not everything here is fried. I was surprised to see they had a selection of about 6 healthy looking salads which I will be back to try along with their fried oysters & shrimp.
