The other dish was a New York steak ciabatta (with amazing chips). We ordered wine and washed the tasty meal down before following it up with sticky toffee pudding and a decidedly evil peanut butter cheesecake (which comes in a glass). We like it here. It's grand and light, and the food is good and reasonably priced. What would we change? We would upgrade the condiments, so that the ketchup is better, and that authentic maple syrup is used on our pancakes rather than golden syrup, which is thick and doesn't taste of much. We would also have preferred our meals a bit hotter, as we felt like we had to wolf it down before it got cold. But these are small niggles that can be easily fixed, and probably will be at some point if the professionalism of the staff is anything to go by. They're friendly, not over-familiar, not too pushy, and they seem to want to go out of their way to make sure you enjoy Cosy Club. The wine list is short, but will hopefully improve in time. As of writing, it's only been open a couple of weeks. I look forward to being able to buy Champagne by the glass!

My friends offered to change the location for me, but my first meal was so good that I wanted them to try it too. It was just as good the second time around, I got a different starter, but stuck with the filet with peppercorn sauce for my main. Also, we got at different assortment of sides - all delicious! My partner ordered a steak cooked on a hot stone tablet right in front of him - similar to the way you can get hot plates in Indian restaurants, except this actually allowed him to partially cook the steak himself. As an occasional vegetarian there wasn't a great amount of choice for me to pick a main course but the starters and desserts were divine! It is quite pricey but I would come back for the chocolate mouse alone and my partner can whole-heartedly vote for the sirloin steak!

Perfect for when you want something deliciously savoury, by the river, in the sunshine from a quaint ol' cafe. Be prepared to queue though, as as small as this place is, it is rather famous!

My pork came with 2 roast spuds, green and red cabbage, corquette, mashed swede, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. If you don't like apple sauce tell them as it comes already plated. Our plates barely had any gravy on, but a small gravy boat was brought on request as were the horseradish and mint sauce.

The restaurant is on the top floor and has really nice views of the river (and all of the activities that go along with that) and is a perfect backdrop as the sun sets over Bristol. Once the sun has gone down the ambiance and atmosphere here really shines and the (usually full) tables provide a charming and warm hum with everyone chatting, laughing and having a good time. We chose from the set evening menu in the upstairs restaurant, at £18 for 2 courses and £21.50 for three. They will swop vegetarian items for the meat or fish set items on request. The menu is modern European, and features items such as ham hock and roast rabbit, all decorously served. Puddings include items such as lavender panna cotta - simply to die for. Service was excellent and the general consensus was that we would happily come back here: most of us had two courses, which, with house wine (a bottle between two on average), water and service came to £28 a head.

They also have organic cider and lager and a good selection of malts. Home cooked food (the yorkshire puds are lauded by the regulars) music on Sundays and a quiz on Mondays. The pub has a bar to sit round, a few tables and a nook - the nook is good to have a bigger group in but generally it is a quiet pub and you will be asked to leave if things get out of hand. This used to be an absolute favourite pub, we dragged every visiting friend up that frikkin hill to go to it. However not recently and that is purely because of the toilets. They are not dirty, but rather over-zealous on the cleaner. They use the industrial Swisher air fresheners which is a chemical-citrus smell which pervades the entire pub. And one thing you don't want when you have a pint and roasty is the smell of pretend orange in your schnoz. Bleurgh. Oh yes fact fans: this is the area where Maxie's dad (Bill Bailey) lived in Skins season 2.

They have your usual selection of spirits and mixers available and all reasonably priced. The staff are really friendly and up for a laugh. They have a weekly pub quiz and also a bring your own vinyl night I haven't been to either of these but could be tempted. Down side is there's no outside area, so not great for a sunny day, but let's face it these are scarce. I will definitely be back, it's on 'the scenic' route to Clifton so be rude not to stop in when I'm passing!

Each course was amazing and we felt so honored to be there. Our servers were friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We sat upstairs and enjoyed the quieter space. Situated outside of the hustle and bustle of the city centre, the kind of crowd you'll find here is the one that loves a descent pint of beer and an evening spent with friends. It can be quite difficult to get a seat here, so it's not a great place to take someone who hates standing with a drink. The King's Head will give you a little slice of history and take you back to a time when not every pub was a chain, and when reasonable prices weren't a rarity.
