I heard about this place and I LOVE pie, so my sister and I went. Cute and clean little place and the service was friendly. There isn't a large selection of slices to go so I got a slice of German chocolate pie and took it home. Figuring that was a safe choice... I hate writing a bad review, this is my first- but it was so, SO BAD :( It was so bad that I spit out my second bite and threw the whole thing away. It was sour, I think there were whole walnuts?, and there was not a hint of chocolate in the bite at all- which was weird because I ate right from the chocolate part both times. It tasted like sour cream cheese...with walnuts. I don't know what happened or what all these great reviews are about- but I certainly didn't have a good experience. I told my sister and she said she didn't like their pies either. I asked why she didn't mention this before and she said she just fingered it was a matter of personal preference or she'd just gotten a lemon. So... I have had the privilege of having Holiday pies from Piefection for Thanksgiving twice...(came back on BlackFriday) and just picked up 6 pies for Christmas. A total of 19 pies. 19!!! I really don't know what the poor reviews are about. The Pumpkin is one of the best pies I have ever had!!! Great crust and the spice was on point. Banana and Coconut cream are out of this world!! Tried my first pies at this pop up shop and was very disappointed. The selection was great and I was excited to have somewhere new close by, but unfortunately, they missed the mark. I ordered the chicken pot pie, a strawberry rhubarb pie and a blueberry pie. The chicken pot pie was awful. It was heavy on one flavor, that I couldn't even make out, and there was barely any chicken in it and a few canned vegetables. I didn't like their crust on any of the pies. And after all, what's a pie without a good crust. Tastes like they use lard, instead of shortening or butter, and it was just mushy and underbaked. I actually only ate the filling and threw away the crusts. Filling wasn't bad on the fruit pies, but definitely not a buttery, flaky crust. Sorry, I really wanted to like it. My family and I have tried three pie varieties since Piefection opened at the beginning of September. The blueberry, coconut cream, and banana cream. All three have been wonderfully delicious. Dropped in on Christmas Eve Day - I got there at 9am and they really do have their act together for the holiday rush. Three people at the counter, two helping in the lobby, stacks and stacks of pies waiting for happy homes. I was glad to get exactly what I wanted (no, I didn't think ahead enough to pre-order...) - can't wait to try the AZ Orange pie and various savory pies (today's special was Green Chile Beef, yum!). The service was great. I had gone in to order the banana cream pie and they did not have any ready at that time. The gal at the front said they can make it for me in 10 minutes. I of course had 10 minutes to spare and probably waited for to be made. The flavor of the pie was good, but the pie itself did not hold up very well. It was a bit of a mushy mess even though it sat in the fridge for 4 hrs. It is a little pricey so I would not come here on a regular basis, but I would come here again for special occasions and try another pie. The pie deposit was a little surprising but I don't mind. I heard nothing but great things about this place. My husband loves pecan pie so we picked one up. The pie tasted burned, very hard to cut through it. The texture in some spots were so sticky and very hard consistency, hard to chew. It was possibly over baked. We also picked up a slice of lemon meringue and by the time I got it home it was melted in to runny mush. We had high hopes for this place. Not sure we will be back. read more

Great homemade pies! Just a little pricey (4.5 stars for the price). I purchased 3 pies for $45. Love all their pies that I have had so far. They use quality ingredients. Only place that I have found that has quality pies. The strawberry rhubarb was the perfect amount of sweet and tangy. The presentation was really cute. Love the heart in the middle. We also had the banana cream pie. I love banana cream pies, so this was really amazing. This was the one I was craving for and it hit the spot. Presentation made me want to eat it more. It was like eating clouds! The last one we had was the black and white pie. DOUBLE LAYER CHOCOLATE with RUM cream. How could that not be amazing?! We just happened on this place driving home from up north one day! The pies are so good. Try to catch them on pie slice day and you can try different kinds. This weekend we had the privilege of FREE PIE at the Improv club JesterZ on 3.14201592653 and we had another great experience. Have been going to this place for the longest time, in fact I had to bring several pie tins at a time since I get that much..But just recently, I had to drive fast knowing it closes at 6:30pm ( which is early coz a lot of people working would just be coming out by then & I'm sure, they'll get more business if they close at a later time. I bought two pies to try. They were the white chocolate raspberry and the strawberry rhubarb. They were too pricey in my opinion. If I'm paying 20 bucks for a pie then it needs to have mind blowing flavors and be really full of filling. The flavors were fine but not anything better then what I could make. The filling is only an inch thick in each pie. I like one that is deep and really filled up especially at that price point. The crust was soggy too. The shop itself was really cute and clean. I liked the pie boxes. They were a nice touch. I was hoping that this would be better then another pie place I tried in Mesa, but it is not. Horrible service. When I got to the store there was no organization. I tried to order two slices of pie but they served 4 people, that came in after me, before me. At one point they had my two slices cut but then someone came in behind me and said she would take those two slices and they sold them to her! I felt very disrespected. Specifically wanted to go here for my birthday as I have heard great things about it. Previously had someone get me one of the take and bake green chili pot pies which was delicious - hence, why I wanted to go. If you go here, plan for pick up and take home as it is NOT dine in friendly at all. Also, my daughter specifically asked and they do NOT offer any type of birthday special. Not the experience I had hoped for. First, there is very little seating if you want to eat there - just a couple of patio style wrought iron small tables with chairs - and one of the tables was being utilized for the BOGO free over-baked pie slices. Second, limited availability of their hot and ready savory pies - I had really hoped to try the Italian beef pot pie - but none were available. My daughter and I had the green chili pork (still great), my son-in-law the pizza pot pie (I think he was disappointed with it as he is not an olive fan and there was no description of the contents. Also I tried a bite and personally would not order it as I felt it was too "sweet" versus pizza tasting), and my husband ordered the turkey pot pie which he said was good. We then ordered a couple of pie slices - the turtle cheesecake and the Almond Joy. I was disappointed with both of these. The Almond Joy had a very strong amaretto flavor, which the posted description did not indicate. I am NOT an amaretto fan and had I known would have gone with another choice. The turtle cheesecake was disappointing in that the "homemade caramel" tasted more like butterscotch. Not sure if that was the recipe or if the caramel had been scorched, but was disappointing. At $4.50 a slice, was DEFINITELY not worth the money and a disappointment to the point I feel like I should return the money to my daughter who kindly bought them in celebration of my birthday. I suspect I will enjoy in the green chili pot pies occasionally in the future. Based on the disappointment with the pizza pot pie, not sure if I will spend the money to try the Italian beef. I may perhaps will try various slices of the fruit pies, however, I believe I am done wasting my money on the "specialty pies" as both slices we tried were disappointing, and I do not feel the descriptions were accurate. All in all I had a very enjoyable evening because of the people I was with, not necessarily because of the food we partook in. In the future, I would look elsewhere. read more

Updated Review: I received a comment promptly back from the owner of the business apologizing for the experience. I will return to this place for many more pies in the future. In hindsight, many of the problems experienced during my visit can be contributed to it being the holiday season and the large number of people in a small area all wanting the same thing. I am willing to admit when I was wrong and will say that having drove three hours to pick up pie for the upcoming holiday and being overwhelmed by everyone's behavior in the store at the time led to a harsher review than what was deserved. Initial Review: It was my first and last visit to this establishment. Staff was rude. There is no order to this place. Just mass chaos with people cutting in front of others. I opened the case to get an Arizona Orange and a young girl came up in front of me and grabbed it. Staff said more were coming out from the truck. I was paying and asked if there was more. I haven't taken a bite but I know I won't be back. BEWARE: if you order online, they will give you an order number but it doesn't necessarily mean their system accepted it or it went through. The older, blonde lady that seemed to be in charge was obviously busy but had little customer service and was snarky and asked me to pull up my bank statement immediately as her first response. She also assured me more pie was inside but it was not and she was condescending when I said I didn't see what I needed and blew me off. Bummer, wish the service could meet reputation. Great customer service. Really cute shop. Saturday was slice day, we just happened to be there Saturday. We tried the lemon blueberry sour cream pie and it was delicious. Lite and lovely, perfect treat for Azizona heat. We also purchased the crumb top peach pie. The reason we were there. It really was not as good as we expected. Definitely not fresh peaches, they had no flavor at all. The crumb top was good and the crust was good. I'm only giving a review on their gluten free pie. I'm always in search of a good gf dessert and I really wanted to like their pie..however the crust is very salty. They don't spray their pans good so your piece comes out more like cobbler (a big mess). Gf is 24 hr special order and apple is their only fruit option..weird. I would consider going to Jewels Bakery in Phx or Whole Foods before going here. Much tastier, better price & no charge for a pie tin. read more

First time visting this store and purchased a coconut cream pie from their cooler as a surprise for my wife. I got it back home and opened up the box; the pie looked great. My wife started to cut a slice from it and the filing collapsed in a watery mess. The filling was not firm at all. The whipped topping then ran off like slime string. My wife threw slime string into the kitchen sink and would then not even taste the pie. I ate a piece and found it mediocre at best. A Coco's restaurant pie is 100% better. Cute little pie shop close to my house. I really like fresh made pies and I always support small, local businesses over big brands first. However the small pies here are $20. I shop here frequently especially when I need a quick pie for an event and I have purchased many pies here for hostess gifts on my way to a party, but honestly, the presentation should/could be a little more upscale for the cost of the pies. The only thing separating this pie shop from Costco, Bashas or any another food store chain is the personal touch from the employees and the customer service right down to the packaging. The employees never say two words to me. Last week I went in to purchase a pie as a gift (actually, they were out of the flavor I wanted, so I had to get a different one) the employee stood behind the register and didn't speak to me at all while I was looking at the choices (and there are A LOT of choices) nor did she offer any advice or insight on a flavor to choose. When I finally chose the one I wanted, I paid her at the register she hid stoically behind the whole time, and after I paid she told me l could go get my pie out of the fridge on my way out the door. Why wouldn't she go get it for me and wrap it up, maybe even offer to add a cute ribbon around the box since I mentioned it was for a gift. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I can get the same pie twice the size at Costco for $6, why should I buy it from you, besides the typical "small business" answer. Just because you are a small business doesn't warrant automatic business. You have to put some effort into it. Just my thought. Adorable Place! I've tried several of their pies. Some of my favorites are the French Silk Pie, Southern Pecan Pie, and the White Chocolate Raspberry Pie. They also have really yummy fresh fruit pie's that are to die for. I love the Triple Berry Crumb Pie. I also love a good crust and their crust is really flakey and delicious. It really is SO hard to choose just one! I love that this place has such a great variety of GOURMET pies. They've got pies that you just can't find in your grocery store.
