There are restaurants, and then there are hidden gems like this neat little Italian eatery where…read morethe line between "dining out" and "being adopted by the cook" disappears in the best possible way. From the moment we walked in, the cook herself greeted us with the kind of warm, genuine smile that makes you forget you're in a public space. By the end of the evening she had invited us to her actual home for cooking lessons--like we'd known her for years instead of minutes. That kind of unscripted hospitality is rarer than a perfect risotto. And the food? Pure deliciousness that matches the heart. Every bite sang with bright, honest Italian flavors--nothing fussy, nothing fake, just layers of garlic, herbs, tomatoes, and cheese that taste like they came straight from someone's nonna's Sunday table. The dishes were so full of soul you could almost hear the wooden spoon scraping the bottom of the pot. It's a small, unassuming spot that somehow manages to feel both intimate and alive. You leave not just full, but genuinely happy, already daydreaming about that next visit (and those promised cooking lessons). If you want Italian food that tastes like love served on a plate, stop searching. You've found it. Five radiant stars. Go. Bring friends. Learn to cook. Repeat.

I can't say enough amazing things about Meagan (Buzz) at AJ's at Dana Park…read more Her creativity is next level--every arrangement she makes feels like a piece of art, not just flowers. She has this incredible ability to match the vibe of the bouquet to the person or occasion. Beyond her talent, her customer service is unmatched. She takes the time to listen, offers great suggestions, and genuinely cares about making sure everything is perfect. You can tell she truly loves what she does, and it shows in every detail. If you want flowers that feel special, Meagan is your girl.

I've always enjoyed lunches at AJ's as they have a lot of variety of food from their outdoor grill…read moreselection to daily specials, pizzas, soups, sushi and more. During lunch hours they have a great salad bar. The food is good but can be slightly pricy depending what you select. It's a great place for those who may want different fare to get their meals and meet on the patio to enjoy the beautiful Arizona weather! I also love their variety of green and black teas and other drinks. Their tea hits the spot on the hot days and their refills are only $1! The few items I've sampled from the boulangerie have been good (those pesky lemon bars are always calling my name). Service can be hit and miss...the workers are friendly but they can be tied up on orders. There's checkouts up front, in the boulangerie and in the back by the pizza/sandwich station so if one's busy you can try another. Besides the lunch and snacks...there's more...like an entire store! They carry quite a few specialty items other standard grocery chains may not carry. They also have great cuts of meat and seafood back at the butcher counter. Overall AJ's is a nice store and great addition to the Dana Park shopping center.

Trader Joe's - Kept saying I'd try it. Finally did!!

They offer a great selection of ready-made foods, along with a wonderful variety of fresh options including fruits, vegetables, and meats like beef, chicken, and seafood. The frozen section is also impressive, with plenty of delicious and convenient entrée choices. One of the best parts of shopping here is the unique items you won't find anywhere else--fun snacks, creative chips, and distinctive candies that keep things interesting every visit. Their flower selection is also worth mentioning--beautiful arrangements at prices that are hard to beat. The cherry on top is the amazing staff--always friendly, helpful, and genuinely pleasant. It makes the whole shopping experience even better.

I see Trader Joe's like how I see Target: You think you're gonna go in for a few items but you always walk away with half the store. "I'm just here for the Triple Ginger Snaps." Then why are you grabbing jars Speculoos Cookie Butter, packages of frozen kimbap, boxes of frozen mac 'n cheese, a stalk of Brussels sprouts, and tubs of clam chowder and lobster bisque? And really, do you need another pot of succulents or basil that will just die in this Arizona heat? Yeeeeeees, of course you do~ So grab your cool looking Trader Joe's reusable bags [go green!] and shop here! Their seasonal items and holiday items are always fun to peruse.
