A Plus HVAC

After 21 years, my Split-System HVAC system was nearing the end of its useful life. With current…read moremarket conditions threatening to escalate the cost of HVAC equipment, I was motivated to make an "early" replacement of my system. I met Alberto Luna Castillo, the owner of A PLUS HVAC, while he was replacing a similar split-system next door. Between my conscientious neighbor having vetted him (compared to 3 other vendors), and how accommodating he was about my interest in his service, he immediately became a candidate for my job. Soon after meeting Alberto, he proceeded to spend a couple of hours with me outlining the major considerations of a job such as mine, and how his Co. could address it. As one who is somewhat familiar with HVAC systems, I was very taken with his knowledge, apparent honesty and thoroughness regarding the decisions & options I should consider (to say nothing about how generous he was with his time). In short, the work ethic he exhibited began to convince me that the combo of his expertise, attention to detail and willingness to guide me through the complex job was something that that my current HVAC Co. (which installed my 1st-level gas pack in 2019) was unlikely to match. He first proposed 3 replacement options that addressed the type, size and efficiency of my cooling unit (I ended up choosing a Heat Pump to replace my traditional A/C), each accompanied by a necessary replacement of my attic furnace unit. Before we settled on a firm proposal, he performed two needs assessments that finally convinced me that his was the Co. for my job: He (1) surveyed my home in order to properly "size" the replacement equipment that best suited our dwelling needs, and also (2) determined that the attic duct work (which served my furnace & blower) needed to be seriously upgraded in order to fully reap the benefits of my new cooling & heating units. A detailed proposal of my choices of heat pump & furnace followed. Alberto and his assistant, Marco, worked very well & diligently as a team to complete my job, taking MORE time than the "two full work days" they predicted for the job. This generosity with their time was mostly driven by their commitment to doing the job right: e.g. they spent an inordinate amount of time trying to trace a minute leak of refrigerant that they discovered in my system (which ultimately was mostly attributable to my 21-yr. old O.E. refrigerant lines). Their major upgrading of my attic ventilation system and its connecting air ducts was also very impressive. They also (1) took great care to protect our home surrounds on their many walks through our house, (2) completely cleaned up after themselves each day, (3) showed up when they promised, and (4) were very accommodating of our schedule as they strove to complete our job over a number of visits. Perhaps best of all, Alberto admirably took time to demonstrate to and educate me on some of the complex parts of the job--a part of the job that I consider even more important than cost or price. In short, the QUALITY of his work was impeccable! So, in sum, I don't think you can go wrong with A PLUS for your HVAC needs, especially if you prioritize quality of workmanship at least as much as paying a "fair price" for the equipment in this quickly changing market. You will find Alberto to be a pleasure to work with, very trustworthy, and one who will go out-of-his-way to make sure you are satisfied. You can reach him at: 919-904-0192 or aluna@aplushvacr.com

Great service at a reasonable cost. They did a great job and I will be using them again.read more

I contacted Joseph Rose plumbing in Durham, North Carolina about three plumbing problems I was…read morehaving. They scheduled to come by my house at 1 PM on Monday. By about 1:45 they had not arrived. I called the company, but no one answered. I left a phone message. I was called back in a couple of hours and, and the secretary/scheduler informed me that the job they were on was taking longer than expected. She then asked me if they could reschedule for tomorrow. I stated that that was not convenient for me. I finally relented and agreed to meet them on Tuesday. If I recall, the one technician was about 30-45 minutes late. She informed me that she had not been told about fixing the lack of shower hot water or about cleaning the mold out of our faucets but had only been told about cleaning the water heater! She arrived and started to flush the water heater. She then informed me that her new water pump that she needed for that job was defective and kept tripping the circuit breaker. She asked me if she could come back the next day at 8:30 AM! This was early for me in terms of usually sleeping longer, but I agreed in order to get the ordeal finished. She came with a young helper, and they completed the work. Rose appeared to be competent and, furthermore, she communicated well with me which was an appreciated change from her handler/scheduler. She and I talked about the benefit of the whole house water filter. She stated that she would get some information and send a proposal. That never happened. As you can gather, there are two significant problems with Joseph Rose plumbing, according to my experience with them. One is the absence of adequate and efficient communication, and the other is a lack of follow-up on what they say they will do.
