My boyfriend and I were on our way to our hotel around 9pm when we saw a line to this place, so we definitely had to go over and try it. Definitely glad we did! It's an outdoor ice cream shack with good parking and a limited amount of outdoor seating. They close at 10pm, turning the lights off if you're still outside munching. They have a diverse treats menu (some savory options too) at affordable prices. We ended up ordering soft serves (mix of chocolate and vanilla) on cones. Note that they don't have the hard scoop ice cream and the there are only three soft serve flavors with options to mix them. They were tasty and the portions were good too! With the nature of the local weather and environment, there were a lot of little flies and spiders around, but mainly around the shack itself and the surrounding fence, so they shouldn't interfere with you while eating. I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area. read more

Pretty busy place in the summer to visit, but good ice cream. It's a great outdoor ice cream shack where the staff is nice and fast. With no indoor seating, there is limited outdoor seating, but plenty of parking. read more

We enjoy going there on Rt 6 Huron as the treats are reasonably priced and good value. Wide variety of options ie soft serve, dole whip, frozen yogurt as base then a huge number of toppings. We like that they have a small size for those of us watching our diets too. Their sandwiches and soups are good. Weekly food specials. Also good memories as this place has a 50+ year local history. The classic Orange Vanilla twist continues to rule Huron, OH. I haven't been here for 20 years, but the place is as good as I remember... so bravo to this roadside dairy bar. Also important to know: you can buy a pint of orange vanilla twist. And, they take credit cards! read more

If you grew up in Huron, you already know--Pied Piper isn't just an ice cream stand, it's a community staple. And if you're new to town? Add this to your must-visit list. Immediately. The blue raspberry Juicy Freeze--a slushie blended with vanilla soft serve that tastes like happiness in a cup. When I want something extra indulgent, it's the Buckeye Sundae. Chocolate, peanut butter, and Ohio pride all in one. The foot-long hot dogs are classic, and the lunch menu has plenty of solid options when you want something savory before dessert. It's the kind of place where you can grab dinner and dessert for the whole family without breaking the bank. Open for 72 years Pied Piper is your classic old fashioned ice cream stand with all kinds of cones, sundaes, flurries. They even have lunch/dinner food like chili dogs, sloppy joes, and hamburgers. I've been here many times over the years and it's always busy with the parking lot full as well as the many picnic tables. I recently went here with my grandma and we enjoyed cones. I had a chocolate cone (soft serve) with crunch coating. It's the best thing on a hot summer night! read more

We had this place recommended to us by relatives so when we were in town we figured we had to try it! As soon as we got there, the line was very long and we could tell it was a local favorite. They had sandwiches and things, but we only got ice cream. We tried the blue raspberry slush, the mango ice cream scoop, the fluffernutter sundae, the strawberry shortcake sundae, and the chocolate sundae. The mango was by far the best! The sundaes were fine but maybe a little too much going on with them for our preferences. They seemed a bit under staffed but I think they were doing their best with what they had! read more

Ice cream and shake came out so quickly! Strawberry short cake was vanilla ice cream layered with strawberries and shortcake and whipped cream, very yummy. Banana shake was delicious. The ice cream shown was a MEDIUM! When it came out that window I was like oh sh*t what have I done. Devoured it. Staff was friendly. Outdoor seating area, window for ordering and then window for picking up. Heard the hot food was amazing too, will be going back soon for sure. read more

Good place for ice cream. It often is a popular hangout in Huron. Pied Piper has been around a long time. Lots of cold treats and greasy hot food. This is good after the beach to cool off. After visiting Nickel Plate Beach we went here. It has an old school look. This has a big window. Order at the front after waiting in line. There of course is lines but it wasn't busy the last time. Even when it was hot. You get lucky here some times. It has a good selection of ice cream. They even have Dole Whip. It's about $3 for a medium cup. They give you a generous amount for it. It always is a highlight when visiting here. So much good stuff to get and there's big portions. They also have artery clogging burgers and hot stuff. read more

Wow! Try the Nut Classic; a sundae as old as time itself --that's why it's a classic! Try the footlong dog grilled. I like kraut (good fer digestion) & mustard & onions. Damn....it's legit with a grilled bun too & ample mounds (yes, plural on mound!) of kraut! Fries are hot & delicious. Owners & staff are kind, courteous, & their pride shows in the food they serve. This is a must stop on the way home from Cedar Point if you live in The Land. Easy access from Rt2 and plenty of room to spread out when you get here + a large lawn for letting the kids run around a bit! read more

During the times of Covid, trying local ice cream shops has become somewhat of a ritual! While driving through Huron, we decided to give this place a try! The staff here had masks and there were markings on the ground to designate spacing before getting to the walk up window. I got their pineapple dole whip which was very good! If you're in Ohio and missing the Disney version of pineapple dole whip, this is pretty close. read more

The serves was bad and they messed up our food and order. The people got the order wrong and they gave us the wrong things and they didn't give us some of our food. read more

Wonderful service and employees. Great orange sherbet it tasted delicious and family friendly atmosphere.

The Pied Piper has been around for years and serves up many delicious treats each summer. They have good signage up regarding social distancing and are trying their best to make customers follow best practices. You can expect to get your typical treats such as chocolate or vanilla soft serve, orange sherbet, Dole Whip, blizzards, etc. Each week they feature a different dip for your cone. This week they featured their new blue dip. I'm not as adventurous as others, so that was not on my list to try! If you're anything like me and enjoy checking out local ice cream shops, add this one to your list if you're in the Huron, OH area. read more

Great ice cream, awesome customer service, and a local stable. If you're in town, you need to go to Pied. They still only take cash only, which I still think is a huge missed opportunity. BUT, the variety of ice cream, price, speed, and service make this a stellar visit. read more

We just moved into Huron, and after trying this place, we don't get how it has so many 4 and 5 stars. The soft serve ice cream is thin, watery, and flavorless; the portions are small; the service is slow; and the workers aren't very nice. I've had better soft serve at literally every other ice cream place I've ever visited in my entire life, from all around the country. I don't even know how they made it taste so bland and watery; I didn't think it was possible to make ice cream so flavorless. read more

Always a hit after dinner. Place is clean and service is decent during rush hours. 10/10 in my book!

The ice cream here is wonderful, tasty and the portions are large. The savory food however is Amazing, we were visiting from Illinois and I did not expect much (the kids wanted ice cream) the smash burger was excellent cooked hot and fresh Patty's had just the right amount of crispiness, the onion rings were hand breaded and worth the trip alone. Will return when in the area. , read more

I dont get it ...sadly I drive out of my way to come here based on reviews. unfriendly , no French fries, no tea the burger was truly horrible. Frozen flavorless patty, no lettuce, pickles no mustard no ketchup literally a mushy party in a bun. . It tasted like compressed cereal. So gross. I took two bites, my wife took one... then into the trash . Literally the worst burger I've ever had. read more

The Pied Piper of Hamelin might rely on his flute, but the Pied Piper of Huron needs only the best soft serve on the North Coast to draw a crowd. $1.30 buys you a small twist cone, which is the thing to do. Don't be distracted by the rest of the menu. (There's also a 75 cent baby cone if you just want to sample.) The ice cream advertisements hanging in the window also border on nostalgia (see photos, or drive up and check them out for yourself!) read more

This was the wackiest lil joint in the nowhere of Cleveland. My milkshake couldnt compete with theirs in the yard, that's for sure! Best ice cream in town. Wish they'd start taking cash! Food is good too! Dole whip is the best.

Always top notch. My family and I have made a handful of visits every week the last 2 summers.

Oh My God!! The ice cream here was unbelievably good. I got the little flurry and it was seriously the best I ever had. Love this place!!!

Great Ice Cream and lots of choices. The line out front tells you how much this placed is loved in Huron. Btw....worth the wait!!

Simple chocolate dipped sugar cone was perfect in every way. Sweet and soft. Hard and crunchy. Amazing frozen yogurt.

So, say you're traveling through the Midwest reliving a certain someone's childhood and beknownst to you there happens to be much more good eating in the "Fly Over" areas besides the junk food stops littered on the highway. For this one place is near a train track and the old train station standing near this purveyor of sweets and goodness has long seen better days. At this tiny abode of creamy delights are spotty teens working their summer jobs while across the non-bullet proof windows there are tens of suburbanites in line for their chance at devouring the cups and cones of amazing fluff. The wait is worth it. Take you ice cream and walk around the little square of Americana. Take it to the beach a mile away, if you can find the secret entrance! Just do make a detour for this little gem. The prices will make any city dweller do a double take; no, there are no twins here, but you'll be back for seconds! read more

My mom used to work across the street at Wildswood Gift Shop. In the summer, she would come over here to get a Nut Dip for her lunch. We nearly had to have an intervention for her addiction. Now, she just has one or two each summer. (Mostly because she's moved an hour away)! Get the Nut Dip and make yourself happy for the rest of the day! read more
