Great location: It's located on W Water Street, just WSW of Columbus avenue...it's right in heart of (resurgent) downtown Sandusky. 2. Sweets: They have a very nice selection of olde tyme candy. You'll find the likes of Abba-Zabba, Goo Goo Cluster, Chick-o-Sticks, wax mustaches/lips/fangs, etc. Obviously, they have newer brands, as well. 3. Drinks: They have a superior selection of "craft" pop, including diet Dang, the best diet pop in the world. Also, I saw Ale 8, Moxie, Cheerwine, about 75 varieties of Root beer, and a bunch more pop. 4. They have ice cream floats (can't vouch for these...yet). ...best of all... 5. The back room: It's part pop culture museum (from the 50s to the 2000s) and part flea market. Need a poster of Wonder Woman (either Lynda or Gal), John Wayne, Arnold, or Magic Johnson? Get it here. One of my favorite places to go is The Shade Tree. My two cousins and I would hop on our bikes and bike to the The Shade Tree from our rental cottage for the week. My favorite thing about The Shady Tree is the candy selection. It is by far the best place in Lakeside to buy candy. Marilyn's can't even compete. Along with candy and home made chocolates they offer a variety of other things to purchase where it be jewerly or a magnet that says Lakeside and your name. They also sell stamps and post cards for those who still appreciate the art of letter writing.

We have been visiting for 60 years, and find this shop to be delightful; the nearby retail area has greatly developed. The title of "Walleye Capital of the World" is primarily claimed by two major locations: Lake of the Woods in Baudette, Minnesota, and Lake Erie in Port Clinton, Ohio. Port Clinton offers neat holiday experiences and the smoked cheese from Cheese Haven is a family tradition. Caveat: traffic may be heavy in this area; avoid u-turns.
