First night: I drove 1.5 miles from our lodging to cure frozen custard cravings! I wasn't fully satisfied with my frozen custard experience in MO. I figured to give OH a chance with their competitor. Fresh Frozen Custard Concrete Mixer appeared and tasted like melted custard gone wrong! Custard base was white, included two flavors of your choice. I chose caramel and peanut butter. Also selected almonds and paid a little extra as I craved for crunch and texture in my evening treat. The flavor combinations meshed well together. Also disappointed that my dessert wasn't filled to the brim. This is how my treat was served when I shot the photo. Please freeze the supposedly frozen custard for a longer period of time. I'm certain there will be happier customers in the future. There are pros regarding dine in: Plethora of free parking in the lot. First order, then pay. Customer(s) will be given a number and instructed to place number placard on the table. An employee will bring your order(s) to the table and remove the number placard. Lots of tables, benches and individual stools with countertops. Second night: I persuaded my husband to let's try their ButterBurger and fries for dinner. We're all in and arrived hungry at 8:05 PM to find a sorry for the inconvenience sign indicating they will close at 8 PM tonight. Normal COB hours for Mondays are 10 PM. That was an unexpected closure. If I'm in the area again, I desire a complete meal filled with ButterBurger Cheese, Wisconsin Cheese Curds and a Frozen Custard Concrete Mixer. read more

As far as fast food goes, I'd give Culver's a solid rating. Food is cooked to order with fish(cod), chicken, and beef options. We had a burger, grilled chicken sandwich, and fries. Then later added a Cinnamon Toast Crunch concrete mixer and cheese curds. Food is brought out to your table 5-10 minutes after ordering. Good food that taste like the real thing. Cheese curds taste like mini mozzarella sticks. This was my first time at Culver's and I had been hearing from my friends that this was their favorite place to go to when they are in Sandusky. I decided to check out Culver's since I was curious of what a butterburger would taste like; was it just a greasey burger that other chains have or is it something special? Walking in I noticed that the menu has a lot going on. There's butterburgers, chicken and other sandwiches, frozen custard and just sides/drinks as well. Since I am only here for the best, I got myself a value basket consisting of a double butterburger with american cheese filled with toppings such as ketchup, tomatoes, onions, and lettuce. It came with crinkle cut fries and a medium soft drink. When it came out, I was happy to see my creation being big enough for me to devour. Taking the first bites I am happy to say that it reminds me of mom and pop burger chains in my area; like the really small hut looking ones where you stand outside and you eat outside in their parking lot. It was delicious. The crinkle cut fries are okay. My rule of thumb is if it's crinkle cut it's at par but nothing the store can do about that. I would come back here when I visit Ohio again. Always fresh food, always getting the order right and the staff is very friendly. Some orders might take a few minutes so you have to pull to the side and place a little sticker on your car but it's all made fresh to order so it's worth the 3 minute wait! When I found out there was a Culver's in Sandusky, I knew we had to have it. I haven't had Culver's since last summer, during my last trip out to Michigan. Dine-in is not available at the moment, so you have to go through the drive-through. We ordered and our food was ready in about 5 minutes. We asked the delivery person if we could eat outside in their front area and she said it was fine. It's in the sun, but its very breezy so we had a good meal. I had their chicken tenders with a side of Wisconsin cheese sauce and their cheese curds. It was seriously just as good as I remembered. We went back into the drive-through to get frozen custard for the ride back to our hotel. Truly, this is where Culver's shines. Their frozen custard is the stuff dreams are made of. Do yourself a favor and get that frozen custard! Minor snafu - we asked for 3 ranches (2 chicken orders and 1 side salad order) and they only gave us 1 ranch. Very disappointed to drive up and find that even though the posted lobby hours are pretty clear, they don't have to abide by them and can just decided to close it entirely without notice. We've been to this location a few times, and the food gets worse every time. I ordered a double bacon burger and was extremely disappointed by the size of the burger. The bun was larger in diameter than the patties and looked shriveled up and old. The onion rings were good for once. The chicken tenders were undersized and flavorless even with sauce. Soooo... after a lengthy pause I returned to the local Culvers. This time was essentially the exact same experience as last time (two stars). But I waited 22 minutes to get my food. At 15 minutes (which seemed a generous quantity of time) I enquired with the alert, uniformed, attendant at the cash register who explained to me that "they" must have lost my order. Swell. Once re-entered the food eventually arrived and my overall gripes remain. The burger is mostly harmless. Toppings on the bottom means that you will have a gooshy mess before the burger is over. French fries are salty enough to preserve and cure unrefrigerated meat products . Like, dang, thats a salty fry! So, I will probably continue to try. First time at Culver's and I'm not impressed. For as many workers as they have running around, I would think it should be cleaner. When we got a table, I picked the one with the fewest napkins, french fries and food debris on and around it. I have to note that one of the workers (didn't catch her name) seemed to be trying really hard to stay on top of things right before we left. A customer's child dropped an entire bag of fries and the parents just pulled her away from it and left it laying in the wall area. The worker cleaned it up quickly even with a hoard of people walking around her. The dining room is chaotic. So many workers and patrons trying to get around each other and both parties visibly frustrated. I witnessed several near collisions. Only one soda machine that dozens of patrons were trying to use at once. Not a pleasant dining experience. As for the food: the Dr. Pepper was straight up seltzer water. The hamburgers were pretty pathetic. Extremely thin patties and cheese slices that were barely melted. So much grease it makes McDonald's look like a healthy choice. Someone at my table ordered the Reuben. The bread was so full of grease it was disintegrating. There's nothing special here. The menu is trying to Dairy Queen, McDonald's and Arby's but not beating any of those chains in execution. If you are craving fast food, of recommend those established chains instead. read more

The second time we visited, the service was better, but still not what I would expect with the amount of staff and not being nearly as busy. The customer service is HORRIBLE. There is a cashier that works there by the name of Harmony and Hannah and they give the place a bad name. They act as if they don't care if the customer is satisfied or not, they just throw your bag in your hand or their attitudes are just out right terrible. Stopped in for a quick frozen treat. It was our first time to a Culver's and this location has only been open for a month. It was clean, and PACKED! I was really surprised with the number of employees working - probably good with the demand, but way more than your typical fast food. All of the employees were super friendly - and young. The menu is extensive and a pleasant surprise. I'll be back to check the burgers out. It was frozen treats today only. I got the waffle cone and vanilla custard - the flavor was good and the cone was super fresh. The weird thing was the custard was "gritty" and I have no idea why. This location is proving terrible foods. Very salty french fries like salt is on clearance. The patty is so thin and they don't have tomatoes and limited 1 thin slice of pickles in each meals. The food is always good. The custard is awesome. The menu is enormous, everyone should be able to find something to fit their tastes. Really disappointed in the service. We waited 15 minutes in line inside just to be told that they were only doing drive thru the rest of the night which was 30 minutes before close. We got into the drive thru because they wouldn't serve us inside and we waited another 20 minutes just to be told a second time that it was too close to closing time and they would no longer serving people. We've been waiting for this Culver's to open and it finally did!! They've been open for about a month. Like with all new openings, there are some growing pains: kids where this is there first job, extremely busy all the time... The burgers are amazing and just like every other Culver's. You need to know what to expect! They're known for their butter burgers (managers even need to attend intense training at Butter Burger University). The butter is on the toasted bun which is yummy just on its own. The burgers are a thinner, larger diameter burger with crispy edges (my mouth is watering just writing about it). The grillers attend competitions yearly! Their fries are crinkle cut and they carry Heinz ketchup! Their custard and mix-ins are also outstanding!! Thank you for opening in Sandusky!!!! read more
