My family and I tried to get dinner at another local pizza place in town, but the wait on 4th of July weekend was going to be an hour+. I heard the owner tell someone else about Cameo Pizza nearby, so that's where we ended up after a quick phone call to confirm they were open. They even said they had seating available for our party of six. We were indeed seated right away and our server was great. We started with an order of the sauerkraut balls, which were amazing - like a reuben in deep fried form. They had bits of meat and cheese inside, and came with a thousand island type dipping sauce. I would order these just for myself next time! Luckily most of our group weren't interested in them, so I didn't have to share with too many people. Nate and I ordered a Cameo Special to split (onion, green peppers, sausage, mushrooms, pepperoni). I liked that you could get your pizza in a variety of sizes: 7in baby, 9in small, 12in medium, or 15in large. The medium was a great size for us as we were pretty hungry. The crust was thin and the pizza was cut into strips (like breadsticks), which was fun and interesting. The toppings were all fresh and the amount was generous! No skimping here. The sauce wasn't overly sweet, and the crust was the perfect thickness. Very solid pizza, and it's now on my go-to list while visiting Cedar Point.

All mushroom and onions, half sausage, half pepperoni. Yum yum.

Cameo pizza has been a staple of Sandusky since 1936 and a staple for my family for decades. The location is near downtown Sandusky and is worth a stop if you are visiting Put in bay or cedar point. The staff is always pleasant, with some being members of the owning family. They all take pride in their service. The main event is the pizza. This isn't Chicago style. It's not New York thin. It's cameo buttery medium thick deliciousness. It's unique and it's a must eat if you like pizza. Go ahead. Try cameo pizza. I said so. And I'm never wrong about food :)

I'm giving this place 2 stars for the fact that the pizza was very good and the man who took my order was lovely. However, my delivery experience was quite disappointing. First, the pizza was delivered as shown in the picture... Second, I ordered (and was charged) for dipping sauce, and before I even asked, the delivery guy said the sauce was in the box. So I tipped the guy nicely and he left. Then when I opened the box, I noticed the sauces were missing, but I was able to catch him while he was getting in his car. He offered to run back to the store no problem and said he'd be back in 10 minutes. (Typically Id say don't worry about it, but he insisted!) Then after almost 30 minutes of waiting... I called the store and received no answer. I understand Friday night pizza delivery can be crazy, but I don't think it's right to lie to a customer. I took the hotels recommendation on this one, and was unfortunately let down.

It was a smaller store front, cozy and a hidden gem! The restaurant has so much personality, with years of awards proudly displayed throughout the dining room. Before the food even arrived, we knew we had found somewhere special. We started with the Bistro Onion Soup and the Red Pepper Lobster Bisque. French onion soup and lobster bisque are two of my all-time favorites, so my expectations were high. The Bistro Onion Soup absolutely delivered--rich, flavorful broth, perfectly tender onions, and an incredible blanket of melted cheese. Easily one of the best onion soups I've ever had. The Red Pepper Lobster Bisque was equally memorable. The sweetness of the roasted red peppers paired beautifully with the lobster, creating a unique twist that really worked. My husband and older son both ordered the Momma Mia. A spaghetti sandwich? We were intrigued! My son gave it a 9/10 and said it tasted like a lasagna sandwich. He'd order it again without hesitation. My youngest chose Ziggy the Piggy and declared it "the best sandwich I've ever had." That's high praise from a 10-year-old! He gave it a perfect 10/10, and the sandwich was nearly as big as his head. Honestly, reading the menu made us want to come back just to try everything else. Every item sounded delicious. What made the experience even better was the staff. They were warm, welcoming, and genuinely seemed to love what they do. That kind of hospitality is hard to fake, and it made us feel right at home. If you're passing through--or even if you're not--Zuppaman is absolutely worth the stop. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.

Going back to the time when I was born (in Ireland, but this story began in another part of Europe) In the 1950's outside of Athens, Greece when a family traveled from there to the United States in search of a better life. The mother found comfort in a foreign land while working as a baker, hand-making the recipes she brought with her. She passed these recipes on, with love.
