Disclaimer: this is a review for sober people. This was not good, 9PM on the Friday night and the options were piled high with half cooked or overcooked slices. We tried a Pepperoni and a Vegetable. The Pepperoni was uncooked and cold and the Vegetable slice was burned from earlier and also cold. Treat you like shit unless you're a college student. The server was very curt with me but then fawned on the next customers who were a small group of college age guys, adding free slices to their order and rounding up their change to equal a bill ( to spare them the trouble of coins). Pie Hole is a classic Boise spot but I wouldn't go out of my way at all to get his pizza. It's truly great because of it's location and hours. Pie hole is one of the few places open after midnight and it's still open after all the bars close 2am. Pie Hole has a real dive bar feel which also looks best after 9pm, even though I do see people coming here in broad daylight for a cheap slice. They usually play punk music that matches their decor and a lot of the workers here. Everyday they have a rotating innovative pizza selection, the first pizza you get from this list will probably be the best one and you'll never be able to try it again. For me, my first slice was called "Country style dinner", and I believe it had chicken fried steak and gravy? I only had it once, the first time I had Pie Hole and I've been disappointed every time since I never saw it offered again! My favorite classic that they always offer is the POTATO AND BACON PIZZA. Nothing more Idaho than potatoes on pizza! Their pepperoni is also a staple that satisfies. If you plan on grabbing pie hole after a night of drinking, may I suggest the "after slice". I was willing to pay the difference for the missed toppings and was given no options for any correction. I just wanted the right pizza and money really was not the issue. We went in here really late at night. People were super friendly. They let us buy an entire pizza with just slices so we could try a variety. I don't know if it gets any better then this place! Me and my buddies were walking around downtown Boise looking for a place to eat and we ordered up a slice each and we were eating moments later. Best of all, the slice was HUGE, we were all full off one slice. Great price to!!!! Also, the soda machine is top notch. Reminds me of the 1990s soda machines where only fire came out. Pie hole is a place that everyone knows, and a place to which everyone goes. However, do not confuse volume of customers with quality. The pizza, during lunch and dinner time especially, has been hanging out in the open air for quite a while usually. You look at your options, they are all dried out, and if you ask for a fresh slice, they tell you that it will be the same after it is heated up. Oh good sirs and madames how are you are wrong. I am sure that if you order or make pizza at home, and eat it after letting it sit in the open air a few hours, nobody will say it tastes just the same as it is fresh. 2 sweet spots of lucky timing can make this pizza greater depending on your experience. If you capture a pizza right as it is fresh, it is delicious, and definitely worth your couple of dollars! If you go out to one of the local bars, then my oh my does this oddly taste so good after having a few light beers. One of the reasons it raised to fame was for its potato bacon pizza, which is great when it is fresh. If you have friends visiting Boise, or visiting Idaho and want to share this very Idaho dish with them, your better bet is to order a whole one made just for you. Do not take them there during lunch, it will not live up to the hype. I had a hard time choosing a rating for this place. I liked the feel of it. It's a major hole in the wall with a dive bar vibe which is always fun. There were a lot of flies inside which was very unappetizing. There are several different pizza options that's sounded delicious. We ended up going with the pepperoni. They are massive slices and it was so greasy it was dripping. We actually took napkins and got some of the grease off. The flavor of the pizza was great. It was so delicious that I contemplated getting another. I'm really glad I didn't. After we left my husband and I both started feeling very sick. It wasn't food poisoning thank goodness but I believe that it was just too much grease on an empty stomach. We felt sick the rest of the day. If your body is used to an absurd amount grease then I don't think you'd have any problems. The pizza was delicious I just wish it wasn't so greasy. I tried a couple of slices at the PIE HOLE on Broadway, hoping they had the "Potato Bacon" pizza...they didn't :( I did try the basil vegetarian and the pepperoni. The pizza was good. The pizza sauce was tasty, but the slices were bit too flat for my liking and not enough cheese. I The place was cute it reminded me of the old school pizza hole in the wall you find in Santa Cruz. I always come to pie hole (at least twice a week) and for some reason tonight one of the workers (kinda older, red hair) I gave her cash and a card and she said word for word "can you not do that" and I said "what" and she said "use card and cash" when I've done it multiple times here. Horrible customer service.. I have been going for years and never had a problem never seen this girl before. Asked her if either is spicy and she pointed at one and said this pizza is not spicy. My mom has a hard time with spice. So when she took a bit and was saying her mouth was burning I asked if maybe she could get another slice for next time I come in.. her response was no if there's nothing wrong with it.. there's something wrong when you tell me it's no spicy and is.. My friends and I took a trip to Boise from Utah this weekend to visit some friends that live here. We wanted to get pizza to eat while we watch some college football and had the poorest experience. When told we couldn't get a whole pizza we decided to each buy individual slices to go. To start, they squished all 6 of our slices into one tiny to go box so by the time we got home it didn't even look appetizing. There was one worker with faded, grown out, pink hair, who ruined our whole time there. She told us we couldn't get more than 6 slices as a group which doesn't even make sense because if we have a group with more then 6 people does she not expect them to be able to eat? We each paid individually and were not trying to get away with more pizza than what we paid for. After paying we were waiting for a friend to exit the bathroom and the worker proceeded to tell the cashier to hurry and get us our pizza so we could get out of there. We did not feel welcome or even comfortable being in the facility and do not plan on going back. We hope that worker can be taken care of so she doesn't do the same to other customers. read more

The pie is good but there were flies all over the place inside and outside. This is close to campus so I'm sure you can draw your own conclusions on the normal patron but if I didn't already know what I was walking into, I would walk right back out. I know that a "dive" seems to be more the aesthetic that they are going for but you can make a dive clean. The reason for the 3 stars is saved by the quality of the pizza itself. It's good. The bacon potato slice is always great, and their specials tend to be good as well. It's on the expensive side for what you get, but it is a high step above your box pizza stores. read more

I have been eating at this joint for years and always have appreciated the consistency and delicious choices. We always get pizza by the slice and love the cheese just as much as we love the specialty pies! It is definitely more of an indie/alternative feel and there is normally punk rock music playing on the stereo but we love this edgy atmosphere. After coming here a few times I started to realize how rude the employees are. I normally wouldn't give my money to a business that doesn't have great customer service but I felt like the pizza was delicious enough to where I can look over this issue.
