We are traveling through the area, staying at a local RV Park. We decided to order a pizza. We read reviews and decided to try Pictured Rocks Pizza. We were a little apprehensive about what to expect in the area. Our last pizza ordered on the road was awful. We placed our order with Sean. He was very pleasant. Order would be ready in 10 minutes. My husband went to get it. The pizzas were coming out of the oven as he got there. He noted that the place was very clean. He also said not only was the staff very nice but so were the customers that were there. Upon arriving back to the RV, we thoroughly enjoyed our pizza and cheesy bread. It was delicious. Yes, I am one of the rare negative reviewers but with good reason. This pizza is not very good. The pizza margherita was rather bland, though it had a very strong smell of basil. In fact, it may be the 2nd worst Margherita I've had with the worst being in Mackinaw. City Let's start from the beginning. After a considerable time waiting, I saw the raw crust was rolled out and rather flat and not stretched from what I was watching. These kids do not know how to make a pizza (no fault of anyone). This produced more of a crunchy crust that was sadly flavorless. If you like crunchy, you still lack flavor. One could make the argument the dough was pre-bought and I'd say it tastes like it. Too much cornmeal, but that is just me. I want a real crust with flavor. This just doesn't have it. The sauce is mediocre. It was neither good nor bad. It just was meh. Even the mozzarella was tasteless. Maybe a little salt or heavens forbid douse it with Parmesan to give flavor. It really doesn't take much to produce a quality sauce from scratch as that is one easy thing to do. Not sure what the idea was but had they skipped it I wouldn't notice. At 7 minutes to do a pie, I strongly suspect the temperature is too low. That could be due to the constant opening and closing the oven. My homemade pizza at 550°F takes 5 - 7 minutes. For me, this pizza is overpriced and not good. I do not recommend this place. if you have high expectations for pizza. If frozen pizza is fine dining to you then this pizza exceeds your wildest dreams as it is at least not frozen pizza. read more

Called in an order for take out tonight. 2 pizzas, a Hawaiian and a margherita, a pasta bowl and a half garlic cheese bread (which is made on a pizza crust). Took about 30 minutes to be ready for pick up. The crust was really nice! The pizzas disappeared quickly. The pasta looked good but my kid only ate half. They have a fun family vibe on their big open seating out front complete with cornhole. Would have been nice to eat out there had we not been so spent from the day of activities. There aren't a lot of food options in town, so I understand why this restaurant is so popular. The good thing is that they're pretty fast making it, however, the line was super long. The place inside is so small, that the line went from the entrance door to the back door. It was hard to find the very end of the line and then if you have to use the bathroom, it's pretty crowded and there was another line for that. They only have 1 toilet for men and 1 for women. It was so crowded on the weekend, that there were people waiting for people to be done eating so they could take their tables. Tables are first come, first served. It was nice out, and kids can play while waiting. I was disappointed that they ran out of Parmesan cheese. They said they had packets, but they didn't. I specially liked the Mediterranean pizza, and my kids liked the Pepperoni pizza and the cheesy bread. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped here after a day of sightseeing. The pizza was delicious. My boyfriend got the meat lovers and I shared but took the ham off. I really enjoyed the breadsticks. They have games like cornhole outside as well as tables and beautiful flowers lining the path. It was quick as well. We live in the lower peninsula, and I have to say I didn't expect much when we decided to get some pizza from this place because, well... lots of places in tourist towns flash a pizza sign on a building and it's just a gross representation of what pizza is. I was COMPLETELY wrong. I love pizza, my kids love pizza, my wife doesn't mind pizza and we've eaten pizza all across this country, and Pictured Rocks Pizza easily, EASILY falls into my top three pizza places I've ever eaten. The pizza is quite honestly amazing. The sauces, the cheese, THE CRUST. All of it. It's almost like authentic NY pizza, the closest I've had to NY pizza without being there and for sure the closet thing to in Michigan. It was so good I told manager how fantastic it was and that we'd be back tomorrow, but my kids couldn't wait and we went back for dinner the same day. The place is small but they do have outdoor seating which was very nice and charming and the line, at times, is out the door. It's THAT good.
