I was in the neighborhood for one night when I was house sitting for someone. Since I had some friends with a dog coming later, I asked the staff if the cafe is dog friendly when I stopped by for breakfast. The cafe is indeed dog friendly - they allow people with dogs indoor if they're just getting something to go, and dogs are also allowed inside their patio/garden in the back. The cafe has a huge outdoor seating area in the back adorned with plants, which made the space feel comfy and relaxing. I had the scone for breakfast - there were like four kinds of scones. I went for the blueberry scone and it was really good! So good that I think about going back there for the scone. Because there is only one cashier, there was a line but everyone's pretty nice and the wait is really not too bad compared to other places in downtown Ballard. When returned to the cafe for lunch with my friends, I had the spaghetti bolognese lunch special going for like $15 - it came with a salad and I thought that was quite reasonable. The pasta dish was great and I also liked the cute presentation. Overall, it was a great find in the neighborhood and I'm excited to go back when I'm there again.

Cute neighborhood spot in a cute area. Service was good and the hot chocolate was yummy with sprinkles. You can't go wrong with that!

Lovely neighborhood corner cafe and hidden gem! Great place to go for a pre-Golden Gardens latte, snack, or meal. About 1 mile from GG. Snuck in an hour before their closing time to squeeze in some work. Wifi was reliable - maybe a bit slow? It was cozy and quiet although staff and patrons were talking. Ordered their soup of the day (split pea and ham). It was nice. I'm more impressed with their wine in stock. They had $8 wine from Slovenia and Italy. There were other wines around the $10-20 range There's also a punch card so you can grab a free latte after ordering 10 times or so

Oh my god this place is amazing! Seriously do not pass on this, the pastries are divine! Came in today around 9 AM and there was a few open spots left for indoor dining. I was stuck on either the empanadas or the sausage roll and they had recommended the sausage roll. The first bite I took was so flaky and soft in texture, I couldn't believe how good it was. Bonus for super friendly stuff. I definitely will be back!

Pico is the perfect place for a weekend afternoon, preferably in summer. The outdoor seating is best, though the rough and well-shaded tables fill quickly. Inside, the lights extinguished to guard against heat, filtered sunlight traces the wooden beams of the high ceiling. It feels Italian and also pleasantly Californian, elegant yet at ease. The coffee is very good, as are the pastries. My favorite is the scone with strawberry-rhubarb jam, sweet and tart.

Feels like at home, but with perfect baked goods and coffee! Very cozy and warm inside. Scone was the best I have had in Seattle. Would go back for other flavors of scone and coffee.

This is a great spot. Some of the best baguettes in town. A regular and consistent shop.

Good coffee, good bakery stuffs, and being walking distance from my house is pretty cool. No credit/debit is a downside but not a big deal.

It's definitely one of those places that immediately makes you want to settle in and stay awhile (and we had no power so, we certainly did!). Everything we ordered was delicious, and the drinks were super unique and incredibly smooth. But I NEED to talk about the rose cookie. I have literally been dreaming about it. No exaggeration. It was that good. Perfectly delicate, fragrant, and memorable in a way that makes you immediately want another one. The service was lovely, the atmosphere was great, and the food and drinks were outstanding. Truly such an incredible spot and I'm already looking forward to going back. There was also a special Makeworth espresso shot that tasted like watermelon SO unique, do try it if you're into adventurous espresso!

Both were ready pretty quickly. The chai was spicy and not too sweet which I really liked. The egg sandwich was yummy too. Thick egg filling, with the chili sauce went well together. Pickles were a little too salty for me especially just to eat on the side. I guess you could put it inside the sandwich? But still, quite salty. Service was super friendly and welcoming, would definitely come again to try more of their seasonal drinks and food. A cocktail here sounds interesting as well!

I was thinking I would prefer the salmon but hubs and I shared both. The Salmon Gravlax had creamy dill as a base, topped with pickled red onion & dill. Very tasty, very satisfying. Hubs was enjoying the pork, and once I tried it, I could see why. The horseradish aioli was the exact combination with the pork tenderloin. I think it was our favorite of the two. I LOVED my Stockholm steam (black tea with cardamom syrup, nutmeg, and steamed milk). Comfort in a cup. The star of the show was the Rømmegrøt, a Norwegian sour cream porridge. It tasted very rich, creamy, sweet and just slightly tangy with a velvety smooth texture. The generous toppings balanced it out perfectly and it was served in a beautiful Fortessa bowl. The presentation elevated the deliciousness. The staff also cleaned up a broken plate knocked down by a little girl and handled the situation with kindness and grace. Freya reminds me of the cafe Off the Rez at the Burke museum: a beautiful tribute to the museum's heritage and a way for visitors to experience its culture.
