    Italian Sub
    Steph G.

I should have turned around when the counter staff failed to even acknowledge that I was standing there. I placed an order for pick up, boneless wings, garlic knots and an Italian sub. Ready in 15 minutes which was great. Unfortunately the garlic knots were missing from the order and they wouldn't deliver them or credit back my card so I have to go back to get my money back or the rest of my order. The Buffalo wings were more BBQ than Buffalo but nice and crispy and the sub bread was chewy but packed pretty well with meat and cheese. Hopefully the new ownership can improve the food and the service.

Pepperoni pizza... or lack there of
    Takiya M.

Me and my mother have been ordering from here for a while now with no major issues. Tonight I can honestly say we will no longer be returning. We ordered 3 large pies one being a pepperoni pie. That is what I have an issue with. The amount of pepperoni on the pie is ridiculous. I called them to ask them if they can put more on and the man said that's how they come now and hung up on me. So I called back and asked him why he hung up and he said we have more calls I just spent $62 here and this is how I was treated. He further began to say if I wanted more pepperoni I should've asked. And I told him he should let people know only 1.5 pepperoni came on each slice. I will not be returning not only because of the pepperoni but because they have no respect for customers at all.

    Caesar salad

We have been going to Picnic Pizza for years. Loved their Caesar salad as it had great dressing, shaved parm and nice croutons. Ordered today and all we got was yellow romaine lettuce, a package of Ken's dressing and no croutons. Also always request well done pizza as we love the brick oven finish. They have changed their sausage and the pizza was wet in the middle. Far from well done. After years of going here, never again. Very very disappointed.

Our mixed greens salad was excellent. We ordered a Margherita pizza with half a side of sausage. It was about the right amount for myself and my daughter to share. It was pretty good, thin crust, good dough. Could have had bit more char on the crust and base to help hold everything together as it was a bit too wet. I saw a reviewer here say it was as good or better than new haven pizza but having grown up in the next town over from new haven, I will say that this is better than average pizza but not really close to new haven-level. The pizzeria is nestled at the end of a cobblestone path with many small shops around it. It also has outdoor sitting. We were seated immediately and we were offered the best crusted bread with some oil to deep. The kids and my mom wanted more! We ordered the Mediterranean salad ($17) the Cesar ($17) and three margaritas (26). It was 5 of us and we devoured the salads. They were delicious and perfectly seasoned. The pizzas were probably one of the best I had! The sauce was sweet, the cheese was a combination of fresh and grated mozzarella which I liked that since it covered the whole pie. The dough was the highlight of the pizza. Crusty and chewy at the same time!!

Small tasting room with wooden tables and benches, high ceilings and lots of natural light on the all white walls. 8 beers on tap. They don't do flights but will do half pours. Between my girlfriend and I, we tried most of the menu. To me the two standouts were the Schwarzbier (4.9% black lager) and the Co+lab (4.2% English ESB). Both were smooth and flavorful with a slight lingering bitterness. Low ABV makes them both quite quaffable, as they describe one of their other beers. We're from NJ where breweries are only allowed to serve the beer they brew on site and nothing else, so seeing food, wine, and cocktails on the menu was a novelty for us. We didn't try anything besides the beer, but there were some impressive offerings including a penicillin cocktail, and Knackwurst, oysters, and a variety of pizza. Overall a cool spot that we would definitely come back to if we're in the area again.

The brewing equipment was right out in the open, behind the ordering counter, and there were a good deal of wooden tables in the front. The high ceilings and white walls really opened up the place and its brightness made for a festive atmosphere. The staff was very nice and clearly passionate about the business. After a few small tastes of the beers on tap, we each settled on a pint. My favorites were the Marzen, which was like a light and crisp Oktoberfest, and the Rauchbier, which possessed an unique smokiness. We also shared a soft Pretzel, which was the best we had ever had! Its sourdough interior was made from a locally-sourced flour, and its exterior had a rich, brew-inspired coating. It was served with a creamy, salted butter that was divine. We did not try one of their many creative pizzas that had been cooked in their stone oven, but they looked and smelled spectacular! Kingston Standard was an amazing brewery with great beers and delicious food.

I tried a few different slices, and here's the rundown: the Roni Cups slice hits the mark with crispy, cupped pepperonis that have that perfect little crunch. It's not reinventing the wheel, but it's definitely satisfying. The Vodka slice is creamy and rich--kind of like pizza's version of comfort food--but not so mind-blowing that you'll be telling your grandkids about it. The White slice is pretty straightforward, with cheese and garlic doing their thing--definitely not bad, but also not something you'll cry over in joy.
