A raw meatball that I was told over and over again had been cooked well multiple times
Mark A.

Wow. What a bummer. The fried chicken sandwich that we ordered was killer, but our meatball sandwich that was on sale and marketed as "day old meatballs" was completely raw in the middle. I called just to give them a heads up and was gaslit that the meatballs had been cooked all the way through. I was told multiple times "Sir they were baked well and then also cooked again in the sauce". To which I kept having to explain that they may have been cooked multiple times, but never to temp. The person I spoke with wouldn't budge, would not admit any wrong and never validated what I was saying could be true which is the only reason I'm writing a review. A simple "I'm sorry we messed up." or even just a "Thank you for letting us know" was all I was looking for. I didn't even want anything in return I just figured they'd probably want to know. I attached a picture for reference. I also want to reiterate that it is not the raw meatball I was upset about. It was the absolutely bizarre customer service.

Have always passed by this adorable storefront and today was the day to venture inside. The inside is cozy and colorful, which I think serves their local, limited menu style very well. I ordered the chicken and Italian butter bean soup and a small mac and cheese and for $16, thought the value was good. I enjoyed the soup, it was hot and tasty, but the ratio of bits:broth is high on the broth end. Would have loved to see more beans in my cup. But that could really have been the luck of the ladle. The mac and cheese was nice, with a surprise breadcrumb I didn't know would be in it. The cheese was starting to separate and congeal in the way that mac and cheeses sometimes do; didn't stop me from finishing it! Will definitely come back to try a sandwich and a rotisserie chicken soon.

I've been wanting to try Picnic in Albany for such a long time and finally on St. Patrick's Day I had the chance to stop in. I love the idea of grabbing items fresh to-go for your very own picnic, or having them in the immediate with either indoor/outdoor seating. From fresh salads, daily sandwich specials, chips/sides, rotisserie chicken and the fixins, desserts, drinks, and also a full case of to-go sausages, sliced meats, pâtés and more, there is def. something on the menu for everyone here in this cozy corner spot! We had the Sunday sandwich of the day which was corned beef, cabbage, parsley aioli, and Dijon mustard on a super fresh Acme roll. Also ordered was a chocolate chip shortbread cookie and of course, a Topo Chico seltzer to wash it down. Honestly, everything was so delicious! I could have ordered more food like the fresh-made Mac n cheese, but we had to make an appointment. I can't wait to comeback to try another daily sandwich special like the Smoked Ham Melt or Fried Chicken on Fridays. Also can't wait to try the rotisserie chicken and sides for a summer outing now that the weather is getting better! The team behind Picnic can also be found at local farmer's markets like Kensington and the Gilman Wine Block/First Fridays in Berk. grilling up their sausages & more! Overall great service, value for the ingredients served, and super cute vibes - can't wait to share this spot with others!

{icnic now makes a chicken pot pie and it's wonderful, serving me two meals. It's very tasty and not too rich. So much better than the Swanson's chicken pot pies of my childhood, a;though I liked those then. They also make a chicken liver paté that's quite good. I've been enjoying it on toasted Rize Up OG bread. They're now open every day of the week.

Half of the chicken and a little serving of the chicken pot pie. Yummy!

The fried chicken sandwich was delicious, and so was the chicken pot pie. I came for lunch. They were pre-made, so they weren't piping hot. It didn't matter. We ate them room temp, and everything was well seasoned. I could have heated them, but they didn't need it. I'd stop here if I was going on a long hike and wanted to bring something wonderful to eat. The service was also delightful. Kind people. It's a cute little shop. I think they have seating outside in the summer. I've driven by so many times and wanted to come in. They have a fridge with sausages that I think they make, wine, cute little knickknacks. Highly recommend!

First time here. Ordered lunchbox, wagyu sandwich and chicken farro soup came out to $48. The rotisserie chicken was moist. Sauces were not necessary and wasn't impressive. Wagyu sandwich was okay. Bread was great. Meat was chewy and lacked flavor. No trash can or public bathroom. This was odd to me considering they provide indoor and outdoor dining. The trash is the city trash can right in front of the restaurant which seems wrong. Service was off at the beginning. Felt like questions and feedback weren't welcomed. Food was running out during this hour as the cashier was turning away customers due to sandwiches being out of stock.

Yummy sandos and sausages. It's fun following the daily sandwich menu. Parking at the BevMo lot.

All sandwiches are available gluten free if you call them and preorder. Salads vary from week to week. I don't know about gluten free pasta.

I wasn't too familiar with this franchise and always passed by it with so many other food options…read moreavailable. After trying my first Dave's in Pinole, this was my 2nd and had the same experience: consistent. This one is in El Cerrito Plaza Shopping Center by the BART station. I ordered Dave's # 2: Two sliders with fries and comes with pickles ($17.49). I chose the medium with heat options of No Spice, Little Mild, Mild, Medium, Hot, Extra Hot and Reaper. I also got a side of Kale Slaw ($4.59) and added a large Crispy Fried Pickles ($7.99). Mind you, this was a snack, so the sliders were the perfect size. One for me and one for the wifey and we shared the rest. The chicken is crispy on the outside but was simultaneously moist and tender inside. The heat level is basically how many (or how little) they sprinkled on the spice powder. The side of Kale Slaw provided a nice buffer to cut out the saltiness as it's a nice balance of crispy, fresh veggies with a sweet and tangy flavor. I also loved the side of pickles that came with the # 2. They're just plain pickles, and they were definitely better than the Crispy Fried Pickles (skip in my opinion). These were overly seasoned and salty to my liking. I ended up removing the breading just to get to the pickles inside. I also found the price to be too steep to justify the price and quantity that came with it. Overall, it's a solid sandwich that makes chicken right. Better than KFC, but not Popeye's and Jollibee.

Pretty decent chicken sandwiches for fast food or slightly above fast food. The thing I like about…read morethem is they give you a big piece of chicken in their sandwiches so that makes them a cut above most other places that have similar sandwiches. I also like that you can choose from several different levels of spiciness.

It was an ideal place to take a group because 1) it was fast casual 2) everyone can put in their individual orders without the awk who's-going-to-put-their-card-in issue 3) there were 2 restaurants (Chimmelier + Oh G Burger) in 1 so more options! What I got: 8 pc sweet gochujang wings (sauce was called YANG'YUM') and a side of tots with a cup for water **the wings were from Chimmelier and the tots were from Oh G Burger We were able to combine two tables together to fit our group of 5 and the cashier brought our food over in quick succession. The tots were my fav even tho the wings were supposed to be the star of the show. I liked how they gave me PLENTY of disposable gloves because the sauce is v sticky. Gochujang is a savory, sweet Korean chili paste, but I would say it was more sweet than spicy. I enjoyed my meal but maybe would wanna try a dry rub because putting on gloves every time can be a chore. I went for a yelp elite perk once and grabbed their chicken sando which was tasty.

We ended up having to pay the higher price because they said the menu just wasn't reflecting the latest prices. Fine, whatever. We both ordered chicken sandwiches and they were tasty. Also got fries for sides and some of them came out cold but we didn't think too much about it and we left feeling like we would return. However, on our second trip back - we once again ordered chicken sandwiches and also shrimp toast as an appetizer. One bite into the shrimp toast and the piece was very COLD...It wasn't fully cooked so we flagged it to them. They were very apologetic and happy to take it back to warm it up. But damn! PSA to diners here to check your food to make sure it's properly cooked here. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...well, I'm not sure I'll come back.

The wings were also another favorite. Very crispy and well seasoned. We also had the Combo Thai Curry Chicken Katsu Rice Plate. Chicken was okay here. Not as crisp as the sandwich or wings so it fell short from the "katsu" category. The curry was really flavorful and the Brussels sprouts were good too! Garlic noodles were a little oilier than average but had good flavor. There are a few tables to dine in but not many. You order at a window and go pick up from there too so there's no table service and if you need anything you need to go ask and wait in the same line people are ordering in. We ended up being told they were closing early so we ended up rushing through our meal. More like a 3.5/5 but the chicken sandwich earns it the 4 stars.

It came with a side of coleslaw (3.5 Stars) and spiced honey (3 Stars). They fried a whole breast, it was so large that it over flowed the toasted brioche bun. The only thinking that made it spicy was the homemade spicy mayo, so it wasn't that spicy. I noticed on the menu they have sauces, like Nashville and buffalo. I think next time I'll try one of those sauces to kick up the heat. The cheese I add was not needed, I should have left off. The Fries (4 stars) were coated with potato flour and seasoning, which made a great crispy crust, served hot. Mac N' Cheese (4 Stars $6.49) I ordered the small 8oz, it was corkscrew pasta covered with a cheese sauce that was awesome with some Cajun spices, a like dirt Mac and some extra cheese on top. The burger was fresh and flavorful--you can taste the quality in every bite. The onion rings were on point too: crispy, not greasy, perfectly cooked. Dipping them into the habanero mayo gave it just the right kick. Definitely recommend that combo. The staff was friendly and kept things cool even though there were only two or three people running the place. The spot itself is small, just a few tables and chairs, with a little bit of Latin music playing in the background, which gave it a nice touch. When I first got there, it wasn't too busy, but by the time I finished, it was filling up. Walked around the block to stretch out, came back 15 minutes later, and the place was packed. What's also impressive is that their fried chicken sandwich was voted one of Yelp's Top 50 Fried Chicken Sandwiches in California, ranking #33 in the state. That's what I'm definitely trying next time. Final verdict: Great burger, great onion rings, friendly service, and a spot worth checking out if you're around University Ave in Berkeley. Two thumbs up from me.

FLAVORFUL MEAT OR FLAVORFUL SAUCE…read more I've eaten here twice. The first time I passed by this place as I parked my car at the Telegraph Channing Garage. After a couple of hours roaming around the Berkeley when I headed back to my car I stopped by KoStop to eat for lunch. I ordered the medium fried chicken, but I didn't know what sauce I wanted. I asked one of the co-workers what he would recommend. He suggested sweet and spicy. I decided to order the original as I believe in order to taste how flavorful chicken wings are you need to taste it without any sauce. For the side I got pickled radish. I also decided to get a side order of cheese sticks. The pickled radish balances the oily texture from fried chicken wings and cheese sticks. I liked the breading from the fried chicken. The meat was fully cooked. However the meat tasted bland. The second time I came here was on a Sunday. After shopping for California apparel I came here for lunch as I parked my car at the Telegraph Channing Garage. As with the first visit I ordered medium fried chicken, but this time I decided to get a sauce. One of the workers said sweet and spicy is the most popular flavor. I ordered that flavor. For a beverage I ordered melon milk. The sweet and spicy has a sriracha-like taste. I thought the sweet and spicy flavor was ok. If you go to KoStop by yourself a medium order provides a satisfy portion of wings. The meat isn't dry, but it's not as moist as I like it. Overall I've eaten tastier chicken wings elsewhere.
