Very nice restaurant set right along Lake Superior. My husband and I sat in the bar area. We sat ourselves. It did take awhile for a waitress to come to us(considering it was a Saturday night) it was pretty busy with a few seats to choose from. We placed our orders, the waitress was very nice. First our drinks came, the salads then the best part the Entree's! The ribeye had me at first bite! Best steak I have had! The char on it is perfection, that first bite melts in your mouth like butter. Each bite left me wanting more. The mashed potatoes were paired perfectly with the steakthe squash did need some more seasoning. The penne Diablo was good. It did need something in my opinion to give it a little kick and maybe some more seasoning. Overall the experience was good. They definitely need some more waitress's on the weekends to prevent long waits. We did wait along time but again waitress was very nice and food was good. We will be back again! read more

We were staying in Duluth and after looking at reviews we decided to give Pickwicks a try for lunch. My husband had the Walleye & I had the Superior Street Dip with onion rings. DELICIOUS!! Dinners came out piping hot served on HOT plates. . . what a treat, every restaurant should add this touch. We had looked at other menus on Yelp for other establishments & although Pickwicks was a bit pricier (but not by much for lunch) we were sooo glad we decided to go there. If you have not been to this restaurant you must give it a try. Don't let the name fool you. I believe this was established in the 1800's but in this building since1914. Very cool, lots of character. The lake views, beautiful! We had steak tips and mushrooms for appetizer. I'm not a mushroom fan due to texture, however had to try one. Good flavor. My friend loved them! Steaks tips cooked to a perfect medium. Super flavorful. We split the sautéed walleye, served with Gouda mashed potatoes. Lightly crusted and delicious! Large portion so glad we split. They charge $1.50 to split plates, but it was nice the way they did it. Our waitress Rachel was superb and so sweet. Made our experience even better. On the pricey side, but zero complaints. Will definitely be back again and hope we are lucky enough to have Rachel as our server again. read more

Made reservations for a birthday dinner. We were seated in the side room which besides the view of the lake, was disappointing and dingy. The server was inexperienced and lacked any fine dining etiquette. She had no idea how to properly open a bottle of wine and the rest of the staff appeared sloppy in appearance. I was in town for a business trip and we decided to have dinner at Pickwick. The hostess seated us in the boiler room overlooking Lake Superior. Beautiful views. I ordered the sausage platter to start. The sausage came on a bed of sauerkraut. There was a yellow mustard in the side and several types of cheese. The sausage was well cooked and the entire dish was tasty. For the entree I decided on the sirloin. It was delivered perfectly seasoned and cooked. The entree came with steamed vegetables and I decided on the baked potato. Everything was cooked perfectly and I had no issues with the service. Friday and Saturday there is a prime rib special that I highly recommend. The bar area is really nice and they feature live bands during the week. Pickwick used to be something great. There was a nice, semi formal atmosphere and the food was fantastic. Since they've reopened I have been there a handful of times and have left a little disappointed with the new changes. The menu is unrealistically expensive for the quality of food that you receive. Upon my last visit I got a Caesar salad with chicken for $14 and it was the size of a side salad on a large plate. If I ever do that again I'm just going to go to the gas station and get a prepackaged salad for $5. What a rip. read more

My friend and I go to pickwick every once and a while to share the Peel n' Eat Shrimp - easily the most noteworthy item on the menu. We always get the 1 lb size, which is usually plenty for the two of us for sit and enjoy while we chat. The sauce is VERY good and easily the reason I love it. Salty, lemony, peppery... #drool. The shrimp preparation can be hit or miss however. Sometimes, the shell falls off the shrimp (this is ideal) and other times, like last night, it is almost hard to pull apart. Not as enjoyable, hence 4 stars.. Service is hit or miss as well. Bartenders are very good and friendly! We had a very nice gal serve us in the bar last night who was bubbly and cheerful, but she must have been new because she seemed to still be learning a lot of things. Not to worry though as my friend and I both were previously in the hospitality business and understand the learning curve. We will of course be back again! But truly... we come solely for the peel n eat shrimp and Moscow mules! Nothing else has caught my attention on the menu enough to bring me back besides that. read more

First time at Pickwick. It was recommended by a friend. Called our order in for pickup, in 25 min food was ready. I was then told by the hostess at her station that I had to go to the bar to get my food. Only staff were wearing masks in the bar and everyone else was behaving like people always do, in a bar. I was made to wait in this area for the transaction to be completed. You would think that since I phoned my order in and came in with a mask on, a person might imagine I'm not interested in increasing my risk of exposure to CV19. No. So there's that. Most of the people in my group enjoyed their food. I ordered a Rueben. The sauerkraut, for some reason, was not drained before it was placed on the sandwich. In the preparers defense, it may have been to help hide the fact that the Corned beef had passed its prime, noticeably. My father's hamburger, which had been ordered "as rare as you can make it" was solid well. I'll not be back. read more

A Duluth Landmark since 1914 the Pickwick drew me in immediately with its vintage and charming curb appeal. Inside was a nicely kept bar and restaurant area filled with Chesterfield booths and the sound of roaring belly laughs from tables around. The coffee was good and the beer list even better, along with a wide array of liquor, charmed by the original back bar guarded by an impressive display of classic beer steins. The clam chowder was amazing and the Reuban was... Well, A Reuban. Which is not a bad thing. Service was friendly and the bar was large enough to belly up and watch the game. If you have horrible, out of control, screaming, sticky faced children;keep driving, there are plenty of fast food joints up the road. Wow, the appetizer of white fish with capers, creamy horse radish, boiled egg, red onion, fresh lemon, and crackers was very good! It is a huge appetizer! We split this and the Hickory burger (minus the bbq sauce) and it was wonderful (the bacon was thick and delicious). The greeter was a doll-you could tell she enjoyed working there (went back in for water and sev other young girls were rather snooty-our hostess (wish we'd caught her name) made us want to eat here!!!! read more

This place is far from being called fine dining. The pasta we had had an identity crisis and should of been called a fajita pasta dish. Burger was good but well done. You can see into the kitchen, maybe clean a little bit more bc the stainless steal was gross looking. All our waters had floaters and stuck on food.
