The whole place has a really fun, inviting ambiance that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. We stopped by during a short trip visiting family and ended up being so glad we chose this place. We got lucky and showed up at just the right time, because it fills up fast. By the time we were seated, there was already a line forming at the door. Totally understandable once you taste the food, but definitely go a little early if you can. First of all, let's address the pasture it sits in. Yes, it's in a plaza with a gas station, which initially made this cow raise an eyebrow and chew more slowly. But once you step inside, you realize something special is happening here. Piccolo's is elegant in its own understated way--comfortable, inviting, and thoughtfully run. Proof that even the best grass can grow next to a fuel pump. The food is outstanding. Truly. There is a spicy Hawaiian pizza--gluten-free--that I have lived for over the past few years. Lived for. I would cross fences for it. Sweet, spicy, perfectly balanced, and consistently excellent. It's the kind of pizza a cow dreams about while staring at the moon. The owner is clearly in tune with her herd. She knows what's going on, she cares about her guests, and it shows in every interaction. The staff reflects that same energy. Many of the waitresses have been there a long time, which tells this cow everything he needs to know. They are friendly, attentive, attractive, genuinely enjoyable to interact with--and yes, very pleasant to look at. One particular has fascinated me, though stubborn. She must have a splash of Italian. Sharp, assertive and beautiful A joyful barn makes for happy cows. The wine selection at Piccolo's is solid, but sometimes--when a cow is feeling especially refined--you may find them trotting next door to their partner restaurant, Hay J's, to fetch an even better bottle. I may feel like an ass to ask, but they know what I like. The fact that they'll do that without fuss? That's good hospitality. That's teamwork across fences. They also pour some very good beers on tap, which this cow appreciates after a long day of chewing metaphorical cud. Most of the time, I take my pizza to-go, and they do an excellent job with takeout--careful, consistent, and reliable. But I have stayed to eat in on several occasions, and every time has been a pleasure. Is it a little expensive for what you get? Perhaps. But is it worth it? Absolutely. Quality grazing costs more, and this cow understands value when he tastes it. Final moo: Piccolo's Pizza is unique, delicious, well-run, and full of heart. I love this place. If you ask me where to go for quality pizza in an area overflowing with pizza spots, Piccolos will be one of the top places I point you. House-made, fresh, well seasoned pizzas and pastas with a somewhat elevated atmosphere. Ok, so why 4 stars, not 5? Let me tell you, I have never ran a restaurant so I can't pretend to know the associated costs and what it takes to stay afloat, BUT ordering 1 pizza, 1 pasta, and 1 cocktail for a $75 bill it's just a bit much for me. Phone: Terrible. I understand that when a restaurant gets busy to "PAUSE" call in to go orders to handle In-house orders. However, if I would really like to get a to-go order, I should be allowed to come in as a normal patron and order to-go food. I asked if I could on a call and Jackson shot me with a snotty, "You _could_ come in but we are going to have to make you wait an hour and a half" Seriously? I should be put in line with all other orders and made to wait in line with the other orders. Piccolo makes some of the best pizza in Spokane. The place is small so you have to get there early but the wait staff moves quickly and so the crowd moves through pretty quickly. Great crust in their pizza which makes it for me. Our server Julia did a great job with a packed house in getting our food and drinks out and was very pleasant in doing so. I'm not a dessert guy but the bread pudding may be on my list for next time. I saw it go by us a few times last night and I've gotta try it. read more

I've tried a few different pizzas a few different times, and overall it's just not great in my opinion. A lot of people love it, so it's probably worth trying so you can decide for yourself. The food was incredible. I am a Portland, OR local so that's my resume. Usually buying food at restaurants in Spokane is a waste of money since you're better off making something more delicious at home but this was something different. The service was great, came right at opening and was served very fast and I loved how it gives "hole in the wall" vibe from the outside but "cute romantic lowkey date night" inside. Incredible pizza! My wife and I are pizza critics and always seek out the best tasting pizza and this place is it!! Not to mention great happy hour specials between 3-5pm. We had two pizzas along with the beet salad which was also very tasty, and no split charge! Met the owner Jeremy and his sons, who were very kind and filled us in on the history of the restaurant. By far one of the best pizza places in the Spokane area-- my husband and I are obsessed with the Bianca and the Brasado Pizzas. Excellent food. Poor service. We arrived at 4:40 pm and waited until 5:25 pm to get a table. We ordered right as soon as we could. Our pizzas did not arrive until 6:30 pm. While we were waiting to be seated and waiting for our food, we saw many take out pizzas being carried out. I don't think their model of providing takeout when an in house pizza takes an hour to arrive is good customer service. The waiter did not apologize at the end. We came for dinner but the dinner dishes were honestly not all that. I would say good enough for the price but nothing oh so special or wow. Bread knots for an appetizer were amazing. We ordered the Margherita pizza but it was super salty in my opinion. Lacked flavor too. Felt like all you could taste is sauce. The size was good though. Enough to Shar ewith 3 people and have a few pieces for leftovers. The pastas are the best thing on the menu. I had the Alfredo and my friend had the basil lemon pesto. Both were good. I really had a craving for good quality pizza and saw Piccolo Pizza and it was only 11 minutes away from my house and so I was excited! I ordered the meatballs and a Greco pizza. Waitress was super nice and the atmosphere was incredible, I picked up so I didn't get to enjoy it! The meatballs where okay, they were moist but needed a some more flavor. The pizza was incredible, great ingredients and crispy crust, but the crust was the only thing crispy or that would even hold form. I picked up a slice and all my toppings fell off and the tip flopped down. I rolled the pizza sliced from tip to crust and ate it that way. We stayed at the Best Western while in Spokane, and wanted something to eat, looking on Yelp, saw this place and saw that they had a pizza with Huckleberry Sauce on it, so had to get that, the pizza is called Brasoto, it has Huckleberry Sauce, Steak, Bacon, Pineapple, Jalapeno, Shallots and Cilento, I took off the Jalapenos and added Tomatoes, and must say it was a pretty good pizza!
