What the heck happened to this pizza Place ???? Once my go to place now off pizza. I ordered a spinach mushroom Pizza. No mushrooms. Celery chunks on it (not even a topping option so must be by mistake - very strange )! I re heated it and the cheese doesn't melt. Awesome za!!! Great NY style crust, fresh toppings! The x-large is HUUUUGE!! The sauce is delightful, not loaded with sweetness and sugar. Tastes fresh and homemade!! Love the toppings! I can't believe I lived across the street from this place for years and never tried it until today. We ordered the Lasagna Pizza, Grandma's Thick Pizza, Onion Rings and the Toasted Ravioli. The pizzas were AMAZING, from the sauce to the toppings, everything was fresh and delicious. The ravioli bites were great as well, they were nice and crispy. Ordered delivery tonight. We tried the NY style thin crust and the "Chicago" style. Both tasted good, but if you have ever been to Chicago and have tried real Chicago pizza- this isn't even the same. It's more like really thick Pizza Hut style pan pizza, rather than true Chicago. I'll order the NY thin crust again for sure, and am interested to try their other flavors- but will save the Chicago for a trip to the Midwest. read more

This pizzeria is close to my current accommodation, but I was feeling lazy the other night so I opted for delivery ($2 fee via EatStreet). Delivery did not take long at all. I was stunned when the doorbell rang in about 35-40 minutes when I anticipated an hour+ wait. The delivery guy was really friendly as I apologized for not having turned the outside light on in time. All the food arrived hot/fresh. I ordered the lasagna pizza (yes, that is a thing), the club sandwich hoagie, and a side Caesar salad (average). While the hoagie was okay and served as a filling lunch the next day, the pizza stole the limelight. Seriously: wow! The dough was perfectly cooked and held the toppings well. The pie included macaroni pieces, ricotta, and meat...and it definitely reminded me of lasagna! Very cool idea. This is situated across from the Kroger on Broad, so I'm likely to stop in and try more of their menu soon. Or maybe just the lasagna pizza again, actually. read more

I've ordered from Picciotti's twice this week and and giving them an extra star for the toasted ravioli. I maintain that the pizza is just okay, but these people have extremely fast delivery and wonderful toasted ravioli. I scarfed it down in less than 5 minutes. I ordered a ginger ale with my order and when the guy showed up to my door, he said all they had was Sprite. That was fine, but I wish I was notified ahead of time that the drink I wanted wasn't available. My husband still doesn't love this pizza, but it's not bad by any means and good in a pinch! read more

Finally shut that one friend up! You have that friend. Everyone does. They are Italian and proud of it. They walk with their chest puffed out. They say "mootzerell" instead of mozzarella. They wear a metal chain for no reason. They order sandwiches in a manner that maximizes the nitrate content. And they know, deep in their soul, that pizza is not, nay, cannot physically be made in a restaurant outside of New York without the end result being an affront to the Virgin Mary. You will tell them you want to take them here. You will mispronounce the name and they will correct you scornfully and ask why bother. Quickly turn so that they can't see you rolling your eyes and offer to buy. Once inside let the whole thing play out on its own. They will look at the menu and sneer at the fact that you can get french fries as a pizza topping. Assured of their righteous superiority they will order a couple of slices with traditional toppings, perhaps pepperoni, perhaps mushrooms, or perhaps even both. Then it's time for them to snap up their drink cup, fill it at the fountain, and grab some Parmesan before sitting at the table in anticipation of explaining, in lurid detail, every aspect of Richmond that prevents us from ever understanding what makes life good. About 8 minutes later the nice guy behind the counter will come out with your food, piping hot and aromatic. The delicious smell may give them a bit of pause but it won't sink in. After festooning their slice with cheese and red pepper flakes they will pick it up by the crust and fold it lengthwise. This is the beginning of the end for them. It will fold perfectly and snap at the crust exactly like it's supposed to. Watch their eyes for the slight widening. From the first bite they will slowly start moving through the five stages of grief as their meal creates nearly fatal cognitive dissonance. It will be the quietest meal you have ever had with them. You see, this pizza is the highest quality you have ever had. Anywhere. Every aspect has been meticulously perfected for a truly harmonious pizza experience. Oft overlooked things like using high grade pepperoni and sliced sausage instead of crumbled have been considered. The sauce and cheese are fantastic and just the right ratio. The crust is unbelievable. The only criticism I have is that they used to have a chicken curry offering that is no longer available and I desperately want it back; it was like no other fusion cuisine I have ever enjoyed. read more

There's no hiding it, I love pizza. Even more than ordering out whole pizzas, I enjoy pizza by the slice. Unable to decide what we wanted one night for dinner, we decided to stop on by to check out Picciotti's. In short, best decision we probably made that day. --Food: As the place is newly opened in the last couple of months, they've been promoting their menu through ValPack, newspapers, and other ads. You've likely seen what they offer, but basically they have your typical pizza place fare; pizzas, subs, and some pasta dishes. The first time we went here was with my fiancee's family, and somehow after all was said and done, we ended up just ordering an Extra Large Cheese pizza and some garlic knots. We came around 6:30 PM or so I believe, so they didn't have many by-the-slice options available, hence why we ended up with a whole pizza. (A 20" one at that!) Simply put, the pizza here is great. The immediate stand out quality is their crust, which is nice and crisp. More often than not, I find Richmond pizza a bit soft and grows soggy, but Picciotti's stays crisp the entire time. The end is especially nice and has a very nice flavor. The rest of the pizza is good too, with not too much sauce, good tasting cheese, and a bit of herbs. It's not an overly seasoned pizza, which I suppose is a negative, but the pizza still tastes great overall. Honestly, this is one of the closest things to that "New York Style Pizza" that I love so dearly. The garlic knots were pretty good, but nothing stood out about them that I feel I need more than a sentence describing them as anything more than good garlic knots. The second time we went (just today actually), we went around lunch time on a Sunday. They had plenty of varieties to choose from in by-the-slice form, including but not limited to: Pepperoni, Cheese, 4 Cheese and Sausage, Tomato, Pepperoni and Bacon, Buffalo Chicken (!), and "The Grandma". Buffalo Chicken is designated with the exclamatory punctuation as it is uncontested my favorite type of pizza. If you don't think Buffalo Chicken is the best type of pizza, you are simply incorrect. (Just kidding!) The slices were great. They have one of those warming / crisping ovens that gives a nice added crisp to the bottom of the crust. Basically everything that applied to the above description of the whole pizza applies to the individual slices. Probably our new favorite place for slices. --Cost: The Extra Large pizza was $16 and the garlic knots about $4. Two slices of cheese and a drink is a $6 lunch combo and two slices of specialty slices (like buffalo chicken) and a drink is $7. Just about average with any pizza by the slice place. --Atmosphere: Picciotti's is located in the lot with Food Lion / Teppanyaki's Buffet. It's not my favorite lot just because I don't particularly go to anything in the plaza, but it's easily accessible from West Broad and has a huge parking lot, so you won't run into any issues there. Don't let the plain and uninspiring area throw you, it's what's in the pizza oven that counts. --Service: Fantastic. Everyone that works there has been really great, both in letting us know what options are available, explaining the meal deals, making sure we were happy throughout the meal, and even helping us set up some tables together outside. --Overall: We wanted a good New York Style pizza and Picciotti's delivered (get it, because pizza, delivery joke, oh, just forget it.) I think we found our new favorite pizza by the slice place in the West End. There are probably more unique and flavorful pizzas at one of Richmond's specialty wood fired or hipster pizza places, but if you're in the mood for a couple great slices of pizza and a drink for $6 or $7, you can't go wrong. read more

Although I live in Richmond, I discovered this spot while visiting my brother and his family at their hotel while they were in town. What a lucky find. They were about to close but didn't push back at all when I placed my last minute order. When I got there, they were super friendly and welcoming. I appreciated that. Great customer service is so important to me. We ordered three pizzas to go: cheese, veggie and chicken and all were huge and packed with fresh toppings. And the Penne a la Picciotti pasta - a creamy pasta with shrimp, tomatoes and spinach, and a garden/side salad with Italian dressing. After the 15 minute ride home, everything was still hot and my family devoured the pizza and pasta. I enjoyed the pasta and veggie pizza the most. The pasta needed a tad bit of salt and pepper. However, the light and creamy sauce was comfort food that truly hit the spot. If you love veggies - onions, peppers, olives, tomatoes - the veggie pizza was piled high with all of them, fresh and tasty. One slice felt like a filling meal. We loved that when we came in they were actually chopping their own mushrooms. They were very friendly and prompt, it only took 15 mins for everything to come out. Do not order from this place! I am serious! Worst customer service on the phone I have ever experienced! I can't understand them and they can't understand me! I placed a $61.00 pick up that included (2) subs, (1) Mozzarella Sticks and (1) Sicilian Style Pizza with Mozzarella & Basil. They did not ask me if I wanted the subs heated, so I assumed they would come cold considering they did not ask.....NOPE! Both were heated and as I open the Styrofoam Sub Containers, I noticed that they put the Lettuce / Tomato / Mayo on first and then the meat and heated the subs with Mayo on them......that is majorly nasty and wrong! I tell you what was utterly shocking right.....I asked for bacon and turkey to be added to their "Italian" sub......which only came with Ham & Salami and guess how they added bacon to the "Italian" sub ? The sprinkled bacon bits on top of the sub!!! Yes, bacon bits! I thought this was a bad joke......it turns out the bad joke was me calling this place! In addition, the Sicilian Style Pizza that I paid nearly $30.00 for was without any sauce.....it was like biting into a dry muffin with cheese on top.....no flavor, no taste and beyond bad! Moved to Richmond from New York area. Been hunting for our fave spots locally and tried this spot for take out. Definitely enjoyed the white pizza. Lots of garlicy goodness but wish the ricctoa wouldn't have been a dollop but spread around more. Easy fix, of course. Would give it a solid 7 or 7.5 out of all the amazing pizza I've had in my life time. The Chicago style will be a pass for me. Stick to thin crust on your order in my opinion. The crust felt a little stale - not crispy crunchy like I would have hoped. Maybe a 5. We did take out too so that may have ruined the crust a bit in all fairness. Definitely going to keep hunting for our pizza joint but may come back and go steady with the white pizza if no better luck other places. read more

This is absolutely the very best Sicilian pizza we've found in Richmond. Crispy crust with some thickness, tons of cheese and delicious sauce. We roll with the bacon and pepperoni version of this pie. And we generally grab a caesar salad with extra chicken (to not feel bad about eating pizza). I've found a new favorite pizza in this part of Richmond! The crust is a perfect chewy, crispy, thin NY style, the sauce is flavorful without overpowering, and the toppings are plentiful. I ordered a Special (picture uploaded,) which includes pepperoni, sausage, peppers, onions and mushrooms. It's my go-to pizza when I try a new place. If a pizzeria can get the crust cooked through and crispy with these ingredients, they earn my respect. Often it's soggy or undercooked in the critical middle area. We ordered a large, knowing there's not many things as good as cold pizza late at night. This theory proved true as it was just as tasty when it was room temperature. My only regret is that they don't serve beer, which is a must-drink beverage with pizza. They do, however, have a soft-drink fountain with free refils. This is a very casual place, similar to the places in NY where you walk in and buy a slice, then keep walking down the street. By the way, they do also sell slices. They have 4 or 5 tables for some dine-in customers, but it looks like most of their business is take-out and delivery. While I was here, I interacted with 3 or 4 of the staff and all were friendly and helpful and each acted like they might have owned the place (that's a good thing.) Being from Long Island, pizza is in my blood. I gave Picciotti's pizza a try for the first time today (for takeout). I ordered a 16" half veggie. Tip: check their website -- they offer a $1.50 off coupon for any 16" pie. In short: I have to say Picciotti's is my new favorite pizza in and around Richmond. It's just like some of the best pizza found on Long Island and in Queens. Excellent!! The pizzaria looks to be a little small, so I'm not sure how the dining experience would be for those who dine in. The 4 stars is for the pizza in and of itself. My wife had some veggies slices. She slightly prefers Nonna's veggie over Picciotti's -- mainly because she throught Picciotti's veggie was a little too salty. I just stumbled across Picciotti's because I was cruising the Eat Street app looking for something to eat. Since then, we've ordered delivery from here several times, and I'm always happy. I've had the meatball and the sausage parmesan subs, and the cheesesteak.. we've had the white pizza (INCREDIBLE) and just regular cheese pizza. My daughter loves the ravioli, she eats the entire plate every time (and she usually eats like a bird). It's definitely more like quality NY pizza, so I love that, and I'm never disappointed.
