My Mom just had a procedure on her eyes and she needed to eat. She asked me to take her to Piccadilly since it was on our way home. The building and the decor are dated but the food and service is commendable! Everything we got was hot and well seasoned. My Mom wanted corn bread and the server looked at what was left in the pan and asked her to wait while he went and got some fresh ones. Always consistently good!! There are choices that would take "forever" to make at home from scratch-and Piccadilly's offers such a variety!! I am a "super-fan" of their liver & onions with mashed potatoes and gravy, greens and corn muffins!! I could eat this weekly!! The on-line service is smooth as we have been sheltering in place since March 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic! Having consistently good food is a wonderful treat and though the prices are higher they are not unreasonable at all!! I will continue to enjoy the variety as I cherish my favorite entree! read more

It is a reliable place for my in-laws, where they get food to go. I grabbed two pieces of fried chicken, a broccoli, rice casserole, and cabbage. The fried chicken was good cooked very well. The broccoli rice casserole was OK needed salt, but it was good. The cabbage however was not good at all. Had no taste no salt. It was very bland. Customer service was pretty good. What's is it, is me or is It that every restaurant in Memphis is horrible. I order a Thanksgiving meal from Piccadillys in Germantown, I got there and my mash potatoes I ordered was out, so I said to myself no problem they offered a substitute. When I got home with my order the main things was missing "the turkey"...unbelievable. I called back to the restaurant to tell someone that my order wasn't right. The person that answered the phone talked to me has if I was bothering him, called me "Mane" like some person on the streets. I went to the Germantown location thinking I would get I little better service, but nope...the same low quality customer service I get in every part of Memphis. Stopped by for a late lunch "to go". The little amount of food that was out looked old and many of the containers were empty. I told the server what I wanted and he was happy to cook it fresh for me. He told me it would be about 8 minutes and asked if I wanted to wait. Of course I did. I had fried catfish, corn, macaroni and cheese and a roll. All of it was freshly cooked. I was going to sit in my car and eat but decided to go home since the food was fresh and could handle the drive. The food was phenomenal!! So fresh and so delicious. All rightly seasoned. I don't eat like that normally so I knew I was in for a treat with some of "grandmas cooking". Everything was great on this visit including service. All of the workers there were friendly and offering assistance if needed. This was a very pleasant surprise. You have to be on top of your game during this time where business is down. Stopped at this Piccadilly location for a late lunch. Service was very good, but the food was a disappointment. Spent $18.51 for a Shrimp Dish, Collard Greens, Beets, Mexican Cornbread, a slice of pie, and tea. The Spicy Cajun Shrimp dish was just ok and over priced for the serving size. Collard greens were very good and the beets were pretty good. However, the cornbread was hard and the pie was bland. Don't think I will make another visit to this Piccadilly. read more

I stayed away from this location for months to the point that staff and management seemed to have changed.. Yhe Exeter location used to be my favorite go to for a fairly reasonble priced lunch and sometimes dinner for take out. I would brag about this place. Not any more. Then the food began tasting horrible. It was either too much salty or no seasoning at all. The quality of some of the dishes was that of using expired food. Now the prices have increased considerably but the food remains less than appealing. I returned to the Exeter location for the first in awhile. Surprisingly spent $22 on carryout for one. Chopped steak entree. , an extra side and a peach cobbler (now $4.19). The time est 11:30 am. Nothing was good. The mashed potatoes were salty and odd tasting. So were the pickled beets, which had some type of oily substance floating on top and they were also too salty and tasted as if they had been repurposed. They were old and begun loosing their color. The cabbage had no seasoning and tasted as if it was cooked in dish water. The corn bread muffin looked buttery and moist but taste as if fish oil was used in the batter and they were hard. I will not return. Bringing my leftovers from home. Likely better for my health and wallet! read more

Seems the Managers & others in charge don't read Yelp, since the same old issues never get resolved ~ Namely, the Attitudes of the Food Line Staff. Two were looking @ & talking to each other & ignoring me while I stood there (no one else in line) for minutes until I said in a loud voice "I would like the --- please." It's actually been nearly two years since I'd been here, time flies. My son and I decided to take a trip down memory lane here because we actually used to come here about every other week mainly because we were stopping in at a place next door and because it was quick, easy and had a good variety. So we popped in while running errands that took us to the county clerk's office in the same plaza for tags. They have done some much needed updating and upgrades on the interior and it is brighter and more comfortable. There's a soda station which pretty much eliminated the need for a server at all. There were some folks available to help you if needed it but we were self sufficient because we got the utensils and all the food we needed. As for the food, not at all unlike the old days there was predictable but pretty decent cod, there were other fried foods that were sketchy looking and some good looking chicken and turkey. The spaghetti looked pretty frightening however when I venture there again I will have to try the liver because it looked pretty tasty with some good looking onions and mushrooms. I had a basic side salad and my sides were actually quite good. I had the cucumber salad which had hearty cucumbers and the onions were actually sweet and crisp and the cole slaw was a sweet vinegar slaw that was kinda Asian. I also had a piece of the sugar free cherry pie that made the cut. side note: I discovered many years ago that most pies and a lot of cakes just taste a lot better in the sugar free variety. I think because I was silly enough to think that diet sodas were better for me than regular sodas and thought maybe sugar free pies would be better. I no longer drink diet sodas, or any sodas other than with the rare rum and coke. I try to get the cane sugar cokes for those purposes but I digress. Enough about sugars and as for the sugar free cherry pie it was pretty good. While cafeteria food is not everyone's cup of tea, I spent my share of years in Navy mess halls and base cafeterias and in the hospitals, where I worked, and their often lacking cafeterias and have some very fond memories of many meals, and I mean three meals a day, with colleagues, crewman, friends and strangers, so there's that. But I still get to have some pretty excellent meals with the love of my life, who used to eat in some of those same Navy chow halls with me, and those excellent meals are at here place of work at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Let me tell you that that place is truly amazing and provides some excellent fresh foods for the kids and their families and they also take really good care of all the terrific people that work there. Not everyone knows that there are chefs that are there that will prepare anything that a patient wants anytime of the day. That's so important because the schedules with therapy, etc. can be challenging and when dealing with catastrophinlc illnesses sometimes you really need to eat when you feel it. That's just a few if the many, many things I adore about St. Jude and I've been going meeting my sweetheart there for a nearly two decades to get some truly terrific cafeteria food and there is my story and the reason I will never shy away from that tray and that line at anything resembling a good old cafeteria. I know there's way too much about me and my taste preferences but I do like it when other Yelpers share their stories and insights because we're all coming from different places geographically, philosophically and otherwise and it can be fun and informative. I know that it can be tedious and am going to finish now to try to avoid the latter, if it's not too late:-) The takeaway from this Picadilly's, sure it's not fancy but the food was pretty good, it's quick and very affordable and I enjoyed it. This was just about the worse meal I've ever had at a restaurant. I took my grandkids because in the past they have loved picking out their own food on the cafeteria kind. There was a time when it was good. My father got fish. It was completely undercooked and raw. They did give him a chopped steak. My husband, teenaged son and I also had chopped steak. It was very cold. My son's was not well cooked and cold in the middle. My grandkids got chicken that was ok. But they both had a piece of chocolate cake that was like eating sawdust. I had a piece of chocolate pie. This was disgusting. The topping was supposed to be whipped cream had morphed into something sticky with a very soured taste. The cafeteria line where you push your tray was filthy. Old food and spills on the wall. The air conditioner was out as well. The ONLY reason I gave the place one star is because of the staff. The ladies behind the line were very nice. Also, the employees working the dining room were amazing. Sad to see a place so run down. read more

Update Feb. 2023 - Visited recently and, while the food was good, it was horribly overpriced. I think Piccadilly is pricing itself right out of business. For what I paid, I could have gone to the Japanese restaurant behind Piccadilly and had hibachi, sushi, and much more. As it stands, this is my last visit to Piccadilly, mainly because it is so expensive for food you can get elsewhere much cheaper. read more

Apparently my mission is to try every Picadilly restaurant in town. Today ( 4/3/18) I decided to visit the Gtwn location for a to go order. I arrived about 430pm, early enough to beat the traffic and dinner crowd. It wasn't busy and the line moved quickly. They were out of some veggies and meats, but by the time the dinner crowd would arrive the missing sides would be out. I wanted broccoli as a side but they were out and it would be a few minutes; I didn't want to wait so I picked gravy and mashed potatoes. I always get the carrot souffle and fried chicken. Idk what they put in the souffle, but it is always delicious. The chicken is fried just right and tasty. The mashed potatoes were ok, but not my favorite. I went all out today and got crab salad and this AMAZING dessert. The dessert I picked was red velvet cheesecake..OMG whoever created this lovely and tasty dessert I could hug! If you read my last post on another location I particularly like the red velvet cake and I like cheesecake so this was the perfect combination. I have visited before and never disappointed with this location, so I will return and hope they have dessert! read more

Good food but beware.... I treated my grandma to Piccadilly after a doctor's appointment. The food was pretty good, my issues arose while paying. My total bill came out to about $32 and some change but I was rung up for $35 and some change. Normally, i would not have paid any attention; however, I was going to leave the tip on my card and had already done the calculation in my head. When I brought the discrepancy to the cashier's attention, her actions made me feel as if she already knew what had happened. She didn't ask for or review my receipt or even apologize, she just pushed a button to have the manager come and swipe her card. I definitely got the impression that this happens a lot. I could be wrong though and it may have just been an honest mistake (mistakes happen) but if you go, just pay attention to what you're really being charged. read more

We have always enjoyed eating at this location, until this past week. We were going through the line making our choice and asked about the fish baked and fried, and were told it was all Swai. We were then told by a very rude server that all of the fish is Swai, and it's what they've been serving for years. Do they not realize that Swai is a fish that is imported from Vietnam and other countries where there are no regulations as to how they are grown? This is a very very nasty fish that is often sold as catfish in many area restaurants Who also deceive their patrons. We will think twice before eating there again. read more

Not very busy but my server wasn't very attentive. She wanted to chat with the employees instead of remembering my refill.I will give it another chance because the food was good. My family ate here a couple of weeks ago against my will. My wife thought I was being difficult with my protest. She doesn't understand the hierarchy of the Piccadilly locations around town. This list is as follows: 1) Elvis Presley - Best customer service 2) Mt. Moriah - Best nostalgia 3) Stage - Best choice from restaurants in the area 4) Poplar - Best Piccadilly not to get shot 5) Germantown- Best at being worst We started at the front of the line and much like a caboose at the end of a train, the salad person is a thing of the past. We wait behind two old people who want some fruit... and wait... and wait. Eventually an employee realizes there's nobody in front of them and sees a pile-up in front of the beets. Another employee behind the vegetables seems pissed (I guess about her life's decisions) and slops the vegetables on our plates as well as the people in front and behind us. We sit down at one of the few clean tables and my wife pours our son's milk into his glass. The milk comes out in chunks. WTF?! Milk isn't even expired. So, I win and we never have to go back to the Exeter location. It's sad because the Piccadilly is like having a fat girl as your friend. You know it's always going to be there for you when you need it to be but eventually she gets too fat and starts to stink. Hygiene becomes a problem and then you have to say "see you later." I'm giving this two stars because this place has been OK for breakfast before, but today is just shameful. They have almost no food or drinks at all except gravy and decaffeinated coffee. This place needs better trained staff. They are downright rude behind the food line. Some of them that were by the kitchen door were using the "n" word between each other. The girl who was doing the vegetables said to everyone, " what you want?" In an aggressive manner. Teach these people some manners and social skills! Update: went on Tuesday and asked for a quarter baked chicken. The lady stood there with her hands on her hips and gave me the evil eye. I repeated that I wanted a quarter chicken. This is quiet possibly the worst service I've received from any business, much less one in the hospitality arena. Read the reviews below. They aren't exaggerating. The workers in the service line are extremely rude and hostile. After swearing off the place last year, I was driving by and decided to pick up something for dinner. Not a thing had changed. It was 3:30pm and when I was being served there was no one else in line. Few items are labeled properly, if at all. Same with prices. Naturally, I had a couple of questions.
