The assorted fried foods had a very light batter, and the squid was extremely tender - which tells me that's its very fresh. I've come here a few times and I always have to give it up to their service, because it's always great. The atmosphere is nice for a date, celebration, etc., and the bar is pretty nice too. The shrimp pasta and calamari were good, but I wouldn't say fantastic, just because I felt it could've been more flavorful for a "spicy" pasta. Calamari was average. I'll put it this way, Danville has a lot of nice restaurants with great aesthetics and groovy vibes, but the food (this cuisine in particular) is just... lacking. I made a last minute reservation, but got my day mixed up. I actually used the Open Table and booked the wrong day. The reservation was early enough before the Dinner rush, and they were able to accommodate a party of 5 people. The lady at the Hostess was very understanding and was able to get us a booth. The food was good and I started off with a Negroni. I had ordered a Rigatoni with Meat marinara and pork. I had also ordered a side Caesaer salad without Anchovies. The Server was very helpful and friendly and he was able to handle our special request. One of the people in our party had to leave early but everything worked out in the end. The only thing was that perplexed me was that you had to ask for bread instead of them putting the bread (ciabatta) on the table. There was a minimal charge for the bread but it was really good. My review is for a party we held over the weekend. Working with their Event Planner Tami Morgan, we had an extraordinary event! She helped us arrange wine, beer and an amazing array of appetizers. We had the Tuscan Room reserved and it was perfect. Eddy was our waiter all night and he was outstanding. As the Host, I received many compliments about his service. First timer to Piatti. We took my Grandma here for a lunch outside on their patio and it was lovely. We ordered the deviled eggs, shrimp pasta, chicken panini, pulled pork sandwich, Margherita pizza and a combination pizza. I like how you can pick between two sizes for the pasta, a lunch portion and a dinner portion. The pasta lunch portion my brother ordered was generous. We all shared the chocolate chip cookie with vanilla gelato for dessert. The service was excellent. Our waitress Jill was great and I think the manager came by to check in. I also like the area in the plaza, lots of trees and it's beautiful on a nice summer day. Didn't get a chance to soak in the ambience as I was immersed in the company that I was with. But from the outside, it looked very inviting and warm. Surrounded by trees and greens, walking to the front door felt like I was walking into an enchanted forest with delicious Italian aromas. Seated by the window at a large round table to fit a group of 8+1. Perfect! The menu offered a wide range of appetizers, salads, pizzas and pasta. Crispy calamari ordered to share. Portions are huge! Ended up ordering 2 of the bruschetta. Plenty for everyone to have a piece. A toast with all the fixings on top. Tomato, garlic, burrata, basil, balsamic vinaigrette - each bite tasted fresh, sweet, tangy and creamy. A fantastic appetizer. Some ordered lasagna, some Rigatoni, few got the pizza. Can't vouch for the taste, but it sure looked appetizing to the eyes. I got the PEI mussels with a side of fries. Every time I get mussels, the first thing I try is the broth. Such a hearty, tomato brother with a hint of spice for me going goo-goo-ga-ga for it. Mussels were on the more petite side, but don't let those tiny little mussels fool you. It came with a punch of flavor. The side of fries were slightly a disappointment. Parmesan cheese shavings sprinkled on top. Not sure what brand they used, but it had a very strong smell that threw me off. But the parts that didn't have cheese, were crunchy to have with my bowl of mussels. Lolla Rossa salad was also my favorite! Perfectly dressed, the mixed greens were fresh, the strawberries were sweet and the almonds added a beautiful texture to every bite. Definitely a must-order salad! Sadly, we didn't have time to try any of their desserts. That's ok because I'll just have to come back. Been going to Piatti's for years, last night with a large B-Day party. Couldn't be more pleased with over the top service, the overall treatment from each and every person - bartender to the hostess, manager, and our waitress. Everyone looked, dressed and presented themselves professionally, waiting to attend to our needs, with a smile. Hard to get good service these days but they got it right, Thank you to the manger with the nice attire for helping us get settled and making sure we were comfortable all night. We decided to come here for an impromptu dinner on a Thursday night. The place was packed! We had called on the way there and found out no reservations were available but we could try the bar area. Right when we got there we found a high top in the bar area and were seated right away. We started with the bread and dip. The dip was one of my favorite things of the meal. Super flavorful and the balsamic vinegar shone through. We then ordered some bruschetta which I thought was alright. Then the LEMON RAVIOLI! Slightly overpriced but the absolute star of the meal. So so good. For dessert we finished off with the tiramisu and mocha. The tiramisu was a great portion and the sweetness we needed. I think this was the best chicken piccata I have ever had!!! The chicken breast was huge, the green beans were fresh and not over cooked, the potatoes were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and the sauce was perfecto!! I enjoyed the company and the atmosphere was pleasing. However, we had to wait for too long to order, the server when she got there told us she was very very busy and she would be right with us. Well, she was not right with us, it took a long time just to get water, bread, our order taken and finally our food. We felt practically invisible on this dining experience. At the end of our meal when we were ready to pay we had to chase down the same server for our bill and a box for my leftovers. I've been to Piatti many many times and this by far was the worst service we have received. I know this may have been out of the ordinary in the quality of service received, so we shall see the next time what happens with the level of service that is provided. I understand staffing is sparse everywhere since the pandemic. But good service still needs to be provided if staff expects gratuity. I picked Piatti for my birthday dinner (my 21st repeat bday dinner-lol). Let me tell you they never disappoint. We arrived and were greeted with a friendly "hello" and a quick trip to our table. The place was packed but they were on point with everything. Our server, Erin, was amazing, knowledgeable and hospitable. She answered our questions, made suggestions and had a patient and confident attitude. Pretty tasty spot with a variety of food. It is expensive to me but it's in Danville so it's expected. The bread and dip is really good and has a unique blend of spices in the oil and vinegar. I recommend the olives and Brussel sprout appetizers. I've had the grilled chicken breast sandwich with a side salad and it's very good and very filling. The last time I went I tried the lemon ricotta ravioli with salmon added. It had great flavor but I did wish there was more of it. It felt very pricey for the amount of food. My wife and I absolutely love coming to Piatti in Danville. Every visit is a great experience, but our most recent one really stood out. From the moment we walked in, the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome--especially with my wife's small service dog. They made sure we were seated comfortably in a booth, and you could really tell they cared about making us feel at home. The manager, our waitress, and every staff member we interacted with were incredibly kind, attentive, and just genuinely good people. It's rare to feel that level of care and hospitality these days, and it meant a lot to us. We also love the refreshed look of the restaurant--it feels warm and inviting, perfect for a date night or a casual evening out. And of course, the bread they serve is still amazing. We ended up at Piatti because we were going to try a different Italian restaurant on Saturday - needless to say we walked in and walked right out of that place and into Piatti. When we walked in, my wife immediately noticed that they remodelled the place. This was later confirmed by the manager that they just reopened after a 3 month shutdown/remodel. We came for lunch and was immediately sat down. We were told who our server would be and after 5 minutes of waiting he finally showed up to greet us and give us water. I ordered a drink and my wife asked for ice and he was off. It took another 5 minutes for the ice to be given to us and another 2 minutes for my drink to come. This would be a pattern for the time we were dining - the server would come by and we would ask for something (sometimes twice) and it would be a while before we would get it. To top it off - we were sat near two individuals (male) who were loud, obnoxious, and visibly intoxicated. One individual was louder than the other and that one would do facetime calls from his phone and talk really loud. It was obvious that they were disturbing the other patetrons in the restaurant because the manager finally came up to them to confront them. But this was after at least 45 minutes since we had been in the restaurant and who knows how long that they had been in the restaurant before we got there. After some hub-bub - those two individuals finally left - but not after some "threats" of Yelping and telling people about this on social media - the louder one even pretended to video tape the crowd. After they left the manager came to our table to apologize for the loud guests. He offered us free desserts and coffee to compensate for them. We appreciated that he tried to make it right. Shared a good margherita pizza. The only lacking item was a very dry flourless chocolate cake but the accompanying vanilla bean ice cream was able to moisturize it... I ordered the salmon even though I was craving a burger but burgers are only served on the lunch menu until 4 PM. My partner ordered the rigatoni to share with the baby. When I ordered the salmon, I requested that it was cooked medium but it was cooked more medium well when it arrived. That wasn't so bad because the the chimichurri sauce on top was super flavorful! They seem to be a roll with their piccata sauce as it repeats in their menu. Rightfully so, it's good. I subbed out the pasta for mash potatoes. Unfortunately not 5 stars for me. The waitress was "nice" but not really. She asked us if we wanted bread, like it was complementary (at least it use to be). We were charged $3. There is also an extra 4% employee fee tagged on. Both of us were disappointed in the flavor of our entrees: fresh clams and pasta for me and salmon for my husband. Both lacked taste. My pasta was mushy, and kept reaching for the salt.
