Southwest Chicken Salad
Allie N.

We came here for lunch on a Friday. It was easy to locate walking through the hotel lobby where it overlooked a manmade lagoon. The minute we walked in, we were greeted by a lovely waitress who was very attentive to us as we were the only ones dining in. We chose to sit on the patio which had a nice view of the surrounding buildings, and we got to listen to all of the different birds in the area. Our favorite thing about this place was our waitress who was incredibly honest to us about the food. We asked her for recommendations and if our choices were good ones which she quickly helped redirect some of us to other things that she said were more popular or had more meat. My boyfriend specifically asked about the beef chimichangas because he wanted "all the meat" to which she responded that it was mostly filled with beans and was better off going with his other choice being the cubano. The worst part of this place was that despite the five of us coming in and with just one other table coming in and just ordering drinks, we waited almost thirty minutes for our order. We all ordered different things from the southwest chicken salad, a grilled chicken ciabatta, the cubano, a burger, and the nachos. We were all starving by the time our food had come out but were grateful that our waitress was extremely attentive to us and kept checking in. The other great thing that we appreciated about her was that she comped an order of the chimichangas because she wanted to prove to us that she wasn't wrong or making up how bad the chimichangas were when it came to meat filling. Other than the long wait and the somewhat mediocre lunch, our waitress really made this a nice experience, and we appreciated her so much!

Steak and egg tacos
David S.

Far exceeded expectations from the average looking empty hotel dining room. Salmon dinner was perfect, charred and citrusy over a rich risotto. Break steak tacos were THE BEST EVER! mini flour tortillas and juicy steak with guacamole. Omg. Chef Primo just won my best of Scottsdale award. Front desk and servers all made a memorable experience for a guy traveling alone on Easter. Thank you.

Caesar salad with salmon

Very nice staff with great view. Drinks from the bar were nice and strong. I had the Caesar salad with salmon with was very good. There are bald eagles that you can see on the trees from the outdoor patio. Amazing.

What an amazing place! My husband and I had a very nice dinner with a view of the lake. First we were disappointed because the menu on their website didn't match what they actually had at the restaurant. However, we still had a vert pleasant experience. The food was delicious and the service was good. We will be back next time we are in town.

Living in McCormick Ranch has allowed us to find some hidden treasures. The Pinion Grill in the McCormick is a nice place to enjoy some of Scottsdale scenery. The patio has done of the must beautiful vistas overlooking the lake at McCormick Golf Club. The only negative is the lack of a happy hour. Homero event manager and Antonio the bartender filled us in on the event scene at the hotel and in the neighborhood. Come at sunset. After my review Homero brought out a sample of the lettuce wraps. Awesome! Thanks!

Beautiful romantic patio dining.

Looking for a romantic dining experience with below average food? Here it is. We were excited to try this place because we'd heard about the patio seating overlooking a lake, romantic lighting, and even an outdoor fire pit. But as we were being seated, we noticed the restaurant was almost empty. Not a good sign. It took a while for a server to approach our table. When we asked to see the prix fixe menu, he seemed annoyed. We decided against ordering from the prix fixe menu anyway, because it was solely Irish food designed to commemorate St. Patrick's Day, even though we were there a week or so after the holiday. It took another long while to actually place our food order. I also asked for an ice tea refill, which never came. This is not the kind of service you'd expect for a "fine dining" experience. As for the food, after our salad course, we were presented with a complimentary amuse bouche which was a little bit of olive oil, cheese, and a cherry tomato, served stylishly in a shot glass (see pic). This seemed like a promising way to start our meal. My husband had the filet and he said it was good. I had the pork chop and it was awful. Most of it was grizzled fat, and when I could find a pocket of lean meat, it was dry and flavorless. I'm usually not one to complain, but the meat was so tough, I had difficulty cutting it, even with a big steak knife. I should have returned it, but I didn't want to make a scene in such a beautiful environment. I regret that decision. Yes, the patio setting is lovely, but given the poor service and sub-standard food, we won't be returning

The restaurant was awesome experience. Food and service was superb. The lake side view with fire pit was to die for. I loved it

Chicken Quesadilla, Creme Bruless, Arcioch (sp) Scallops

This place is really trying to be upscale, but it's not. To me an upscale place is where you can't afford to bring your little brats. First, the good. The staff was friendly and prompt. Refills kept on coming. I ate here for 6 meals over my 2 day stay at the resort and I never ordered the same dish twice just so I could try a variety. Here is a rundown of what I ate and the quality: -Chicken Quesadilla: So soggy it was falling apart, inedible -Arcioech (sp) Scallops: It's Arizona, there are no fresh scallops. They were overcooked and the seared spices were a soggy mess. The potatoes and Dijon dressing were great though. -Eggs Benedict: Very good, cooked perfectly. They do it a little different and give you smoked salmon instead of canadian bacon. Not a bad change but they were a little cheap on the quantity of salmon. -Matador Hamburger: Fantastic burger and they will cook it rare. If you order one well done, you shouldn't be allowed to review any red meat. -Center Cut Filet: Obviously not a prime cut. Perfectly cooked and seared. Veggies were also well seasoned and not overcooked. Good choice. -Salmon: Great seasoning, slightly overcooked and bizarre sauce with the consistency of pudding under the garnish. The sauce added nothing to the fish. -Creme Brulee: Very nicely done, maybe a little too much heat on the sugar, but still delish! -Caprese Salad: Tomatoes were flavorless and old (dried out appearance). Mozzarella was obviously a Costco purchase (not bad though). If I wasn't eating here for free, I would balk at it just for the prices let alone the mixed quality of the food. No hot waitresses here, but the server staff was great.

Their interpretation of medium rare flat iron steak and eggs with potatoes.

Olive & Ivy looked promising, but the actual experience was even better than I imagined. First of all, this is a fantastic place with a great atmosphere. Whether you're visiting with family, friends, or dining by yourself, it's a place where you can feel comfortable and enjoy a great meal. I was seated at the very nice and comfortable bar area, where the bartenders were fantastic, attentive, and ready to accommodate any request. The little bruschettas were a great way to start the meal. I followed them with a salad, they even accommodated a half portion for me. Then I finished with the short rib. Everything was delicious, well-prepared, and served in generous portions. I honestly expected this place to be more expensive, but the prices were extremely reasonable considering the quality of the food, service, and overall experience. You can definitely expect to see me back here the next time I'm in town! Thank you for providing such a great experience. Keep up the excellent work!

I am actually so upset. We ordered at 10:09 and recieved the cappuccino about 10:15. We waited and waited, watching the 3 workers scramble for something to do. Cleaning up the bar area, scraping bird poop outside, count the leaves on the trees. Idk. I understand they're not the ones responsible for the slow kitchen. We waited 30+ minutes for our food and finally at 10:41 am we got it. Wanna know what we ordered? Avocado toast and a steak melt. One of the simplest things on the menu. And remember there were maybe 2-3 solo customers doing computer work or at the bar, who had already ordered and were just enjoying the day. The only other customers vying for an order from the kitchen was a family with some small children. I cannot fathom coming here at a time that is more busy and having to compete with multiple other parties to get my food the same business day. Do not come here if you're really hungry. We ordered at 9:15ish to eat there and even that felt like it took long, when there was even less than 3 customers there. Thank you for the cold cappuccino and your lack of urgency for customers. I'm so glad we tipped y'all twice to do the bare minimum and serve us food whenever you felt like it.

The six of us were seated across from the bar, and it was HOT . I started sweating and needed to use the menus as a fan and drink water to try and cool off. The restaurant had already been open for almost 2 hours, so I am not sure why it was so hot inside (others in our party were hot too, so I wasn't just me). Positives are the restaurant's beach decor and the hamburgers. Several people in our party ordered burgers, and they were cooked to perfection and the fries were really good! Negatives are very few seafood menu options and the fish tacos were terrible. They were drowning in a mayonnaise based slaw. The corn tortillas were really fresh and tasty, but when I bit into my taco I could mostly only taste mayonnaise and the pickled onions. Our friends even made an unsolicited comment that my tacos did not look good. Luckily, I selected fries as my side, because they were the best thing on my plate. With a name like Montauk, and the beach decor, I expected more fresh seafood options on the menu. More than half the menu was not seafood (Mediterranean platter, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, brussels sprouts, salads, etc.). Unfortunately, Montauk does not live up to the hype.

The place was buzzing with loud electronic music and tons of people dining -- I think because the ceiling is so high the noise is amplified. Because it was so busy it took a while for the server to come over but he did with waters which was nice but then the menus are all on QR codes -- which is annoying because it is hard to look at everything and because the menu is very confusing it would have been nice to see everything on paper. The menu is confusing because the selections are very odd -- I thought it was a mexican-asian/sushi fusion restaurant -- which I guess it is but it was still really hard to create the best food experience when I couldn't see everything available. My friend was hungry so she immediately put in an order for calamari and I was being called to order the blood orange margarita slushie. When the margarita came it was like nothing I have ever seen before. It looked more like a milkshake or like a creamsicle. I dove in thinking it would be too sweet but it was actually quite delicious and I sucked it back in a second! Finally after waiting forever we got the drinks and apps. It then took another 15 minutes to order our food. Again it was busy and my friend and I were catching up so it wasn't a big deal. We wanted a fairly light dinner so we just ordered one roll -- the Fuego, which had yellowtail and a whitefish, chili, cilantro and cucumber plus a pico de gallo on top -- it was very flavorful -- although a bit spicy for those who are spice wimps like me. Overall, thought it was a good meal but wasn't blown away.
