Me and my co-workers went there for lunch a few days ago. The ambience was very nice. It wasn't busy so that was great for us. The cheeseburger and fries were great (especially the fries). The Brunch punch was amazing. The only problem was after we all got our food. My coworker was still waiting for her steak skillet. The waitress came to her and was like are you sure you didn't order the shrimp skillet? She said no because I like it medium well. The waitress took it to the kitchen came back a few minutes later and said there's no more steak. Like WTF how you run out of steak. read more

Went to Phyllis for the first time yesterday the food is absolutely amazing!! I had the catfish and grits with Cajun shrimp it was to die for And I ate every morsel. We normally take pictures of the food, but it was so good we ate it all before we could even get the pictures! A number of the guest that were dining with me got additional catfish fillets to go because it was so good. I didn't try the fried lobster, but it looked delicious and one of the ladies said it was great. The guest at the table said the drinks were also amazing. Not only once but several times until it was brought by someone else other than our waiter. He never asked us if we needed anything else after he brought our food to the table. This is exactly the kind of restaurant that the Atlanta area needs. The service was fast and courteous, and the food was impeccably seasoned, all at a great price point. I ordered the catfish and grits with eggs, which were excellent. Another member of our group enjoyed eggs, grits, sausage, and a pancake made from sweet potatoes, which was equally impressive. Another friend had the salmon and loved it, while another had a hamburger with thick, delicious fries. Adding to the wonderful experience, there was a performer singing and playing the harp, and at one point, the entire restaurant joined in singing one of the songs, creating a warm and homey atmosphere. Unlike other restaurants that are stingy and give you four baby shrimp, Phyllis gave me a descent portion of about 8 regular size shrimp that were delicious. I liked the sauce the shrimp and grits came with. I also ordered A side of waffle. Wife ordered chicken and sweet potatoe pancakes. Sweet potatoe was just right as it wasn't over bearing . Our first time today definitely won't be our last. Fun inventive atmosphere. Music provided a nice background vibe. We love love loved breakfast. Homemade biscuits and Honey butter, thick cut bacon, fried eggs for me, scrambled with a bit of cheese as my wife requested for her, perfect home fries larger than them northerners serve. Yes, we went basic as we hadn't enjoyed a good solid morning meal this week. We shoulda, coulda gone here! This hit the spot, especially the fresh squeezed OJ reminding us of our trip to Hawaii. The other entrees on the menu were very creative and imaginative without being fru-fru. Open and airy with lots of natural light. Great bar. Great parking, too! Waited forever for food. Stood at the front door for 20 mins with 3 other groups before anyone acknowledged us. Once we sat down we were served water but the waitress just walked around our table. At one point we saw them pointing and talking about whose table we were. Eventually we flagged someone down and she took our orders. 1.5 hours later we received our breakfast food. It was good but for eggs and burgers you would not expect over a hour wait for food. They did not give us silverware so we had to ask and they gave us plastic wear. I made a reservation as i wasn't sure the vibe. it was a much more relaxed atmosphere than expected! we were quickly greeted and seated. service was very friendly. we browsed the menu and had a hard time with all the delicious choices. we opted for chicken a waffles (a personal favorite) and the breakfast platter; with collards and grits to share. portion sizes of the sides were great and very delicious! the food was all wonderful, just like home cooking and then some. the only downside was the pricing. we paid $75 for our brunch! totally understandable in these times with inflation, and they do disclose there is 18% gratuity included in the bill which is appreciated. The chicken and waffles are around $20 but only comes with one waffle.. as good as it was i would opt for another option next time, more bang for my buck! read more

I struggled for a long time before writing this review because Phyllis plays with the emotions and tears at the nerves. You'll reach the heights of culinary ecstasy, but you might the next moment crawl through the gutters of gas station chicken joint misery. It's a new restaurant with a fantastic story and a very sincere owner, so you want it to succeed. The food is really amazing and the staff is warm and engaging even as they navigate the opening month hiccups that plague any restaurant (or any business just starting out, really). The problem they have to overcome is that they seem to be trying to be too many things at once. They have a poorly (if at all) communicated mandatory gratuity policy, which is just incongruent with their location and the vibe they are trying to establish. People are used to being charged a mandatory gratuity for large parties or at places where patrons serially don't tip. When I'm in downtown Marietta I do not expect to encounter this sort of policy. It's not necessary and just causes friction in what should be an unfailingly joyous experience. Also, they don't serve drip coffee, which just reeks of arrogance for a place that serves breakfast. My wife loves this place, and I have to say it holds a special place in my heart too. If you go, you'll eat well (notice no review says the food isn't good) and almost certainly be treated well by staff. I only hope that the owner takes the feedback to heart and makes the corrections necessary to turn this restaurant with amazing potential into one that is long-lasting as well. read more

I made reservations for Mother's Day as the menu looked great and we love trying new places. My mother and I arrived and there was a line. I advised a waiter we had a reservation and was told they had no tables. No apology, no indication of the wait time. I then learned everyone in line had a reservation. A harpist was playing and singing but it was so loud half the folks were covering their ears. Needless to say, we left and will never go back. The sad part is that I believe no one there cared. Went to Phyllis for the first time yesterday with friends and it was a very pleasant experience indeed. Service by Renee was fast and pleasant. Food was excellent....biscuits are to die for...Phyllis (who came out to welcome us) makes them herself in-house and was kind enough to give us some complimentary ones. We spent several hours there between lunch and a weekly game of cribbage. Atmosphere is bright and sparkling clean, very diverse menu with a Southern flare. Offers breakfast all day! My church group of ladies and I were in today around 1pm to have brunch after praising our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. First of all the serving staff, our waiter especially (I loved the braids in her hair) was wonderful sweet and quick on helping us with your menu. We were delighted on how knowledgeable she was and she suggested a croissant with potatoes for me. She told us about your freshly squeezed orange juice which sounds delightful but today i only had water. The wait time was a little long for our food to be cooked, but listening to your music and being in such a shiny and clean environment made us not worry about the time. She kept making sure we were ok with drink refills etc until the food came out from your kitchen. My croissant was wonderful. The other ladies in my group were very happy with their meals except one that said the potatoes were a little over-seasoned for her taste. But then a woman who I suppose is a owner or manager came out and started being obnoxious and was yelling at both of the servers and towards the customers. She had no manners and a mouth that sensed its been a long time since she's been in church. WE hurried to leave at that point. No employee should ever be disrespected to the point that our server was crying. This person has no reason to own or operate any business let alone a business that deals with the public. My friends and I were looking at your place to hold our pastor's retirement dinner of about 40 people next month, but we will go elsewhere if this person is the owner or management. Again its great service, really good food in a clean environment but with a owner or manager that doesn't need to be working with the public. Set a reservation for 8/11/24, when we walked in nobody greeted us for 5 mins. Once we were greeted a server told us they have two reservations systems and it over-books all the time. i went into this restaurant with a group of friends, we were celebrating a graduation from Georgia Tech and this was our last day in town, and this place made it awful. Their yelp page says dogs allowed, this does not seem to apply to guide dogs. The hostess informed our group of 1 sighted person and 4 blind people, only one of us having a guide dog, that we would have to sit outside. it was in the low 50s for the temperature, windy, wet, and raining on and off. This is 2025 and sad that things like this still occur. Our group promptly left and took our business to the Marietta Diner for much better service and we were not told we had to be segregated and told we would have to sit in the rain and cold. So if you plan to eat here and have a disability that requires an accommodation skip this place and you won't find it here. the Marietta Diner does a fabulous job accommodating and has good food. read more

I drove for an hour to try this restaurant and I was very excited about it. I made a reservation for 5 at 11:45 AM. I arrived at 11:40. We were told it would be 15 minutes before our table was ready. After 15 minutes, I noticed that there was an empty booth where we could sit. We understood that they were short staffed so we asked if we could have water while we waited. We had to ask for water 2 more times over the next 15 minutes. We did not get water or menus. After 40 minutes total we decided to walk out. As we were walking out the staff just looked at us and turned their heads. Unfortunately, I can't rate the food because I never got any. After this experience, I will never return. read more
