I usually order it for delivery but if I have any questions, I call the restaurant and they are always so polite and patient. From their pho to their rice dishes to their appetizers, if you're looking for quality, you've come to the right place. My favorite, however, is the grilled shrimp over rice. Went here for the first time on Saturday night to try out hot pot. My boyfriend and I, being new to the hot pot, asked the waitress for the ins and outs. She was very knowledgeable about the food and the process. Perfect customer service and politeness from the waitress even on a busy night. can't wait to come back and try it again! My only complaint is that there was no music playing in the restaurant which made me feel like I couldn't talk freely with out being overheard. I've been driving passed Phovana on my way to work for over a year now (since they put up their sign) and am pleased to finally get to go. Today was their soft opening, so they didn't have everything on their menu available yet. When we arrived we were asked if we wanted to be seated in the regular dining area or at a hot pot table.I have never had a hot pot before, and that was what I wanted to get. It's pretty simple but our waiter gave us the run down that you select everything you want from the menu starting with the broth, and then you go from there, adding various meats or veggies that you want. You can also get extra broth at any point during your meal if you need it. The broth is delicious, I got the fatty beef, king oyster mushrooms, watercress, shrimp and pork dumplings, and udon noodles. They have a little condiment bar area with various sauces and toppings for the broth. The whole dish was delicious. I'm definitely looking forward to going back when all the menu items are available in a few weeks and they've smoothed out all the kinks of opening a new place. Definitely would recommend. read more

Cute little restaurant. Very quiet when we went during the week in the evening. No music playing. Just a movie on a tv. All we ordered was pho and pretty disappointed. The broth was bland and had no flavor. (A little background on me- I love to cook, I make my own pho, I eat homemade pho from my Vietnamese friends all the time and it's also my husband's favorite food so we know good pho from bad pho). The food was just ok. The broth of the pho was very light on the flavor. The beef was not as tender as other local pho restaurant. One of the major experiences of pho was also missing. Normally the beef comes very rare and you get to watch it cook inside the broth. This beef came already in the broth. The fish broth was definitely lacking. The wonton noodle soup was also lackluster. The fried wontons ended up getting very soggy and the pork filling was dry. We also ordered a steamed bun appetizer. YUM! We've been so excited to see this place finally open, and decided to try it out for a family-friendly Valentines Day dinner: it was delicious! Fresh and tasty steamed dumplings, veggie spring roll and chicken satay were spot on, and our pho exceeded our expectations! Today me and my boyfriend went here for the very first time... the white Girl there was EXTREMELY FRIENDLY and was very good at answering all of our questions and attended to our needs... she was great and very helpful!!! this isn't our first time eating pho... It's a rice dish with pork and lots of other sample of foods such as egg roll. My friends and I have gone to Phovana 3 times in the past week of the Grand Opening. The decor is nice, very cozy and comfortable. The first time we went it was a great experience, we all had the all variety pho. I also got a Thai Ice Tea and my friend had a Durian Smoothie since it was 50% off with the Grand Opening Promotion. However, as we went more the quality of the food got worse. Now I just go back to 99 Pho or Pho Dollar. I don't think I ever going to go back there. read more

Heard about this place by word of mouth. Tucked off the side of Millersport, it's great lunch spot a short drive from UB south campus. I always get the pho, which comes in GENEROUS portions, but I tried the pineapple fried rice with shrimp off the lunch menu today and it was phenomenal! I've had the same dish prepared in Southeast Asia, which I think was where it was invented, and the fried rice at Phovana was just as good--it really captured the authenticity of the dish. I think lovers of Hawaiian pizza would love the fried rice too. I've also heard really good things about the hotpot that's served on specialized tables with built-in pots. I was quite excited to hear a new pho restaurant had opened up right by my work and also on my drive home. It was interesting to see that this place also offered hot pot. I have been to most of the other places in the area that serve pho but I definitely wanted to give this place a try since I have been hearing a lot o buzz about it. I ordered the seafood pho while my boyfriend ordered the variety pho. I was quite pleased with the amount of noodles and also the variety and amount of seafood that came with the pho. Overall, the broth was quite standard, and it was the amount of seafood and noodles that really made the dish stand out. The servers were both warm and friendly so that gave this place a homey atmosphere. The total bill for 2 pho dishes came out to a little more than $20. It was a tad high but I can see how that price would be on the higher end for pho because of the amount of toppings they did provide. I have not yet tried the hot pot but perhaps I will come back to this place to try that and also some of the other pho varieties. I am very upset that I have to change my review from a 5 to 2. Phovana has been our favorite pho spot for quite some time now - we are weekly customers. The blonde server, i can't remember her name, always has our order spot on and we've never had an issue with her. However, the woman who I believe helps run the restaurant with longer hair, glasses, has disappointed us with her service on multiple occasions. This week we went for our usual order, p2 and p7. My pho was fine, however, my boyfriend clearly received the wrong order. His pho was filled with tripe, tendon, and flank which he would never order. He was trying to be nice and decided to pick some out, but the tripe just completely ruined his appetite so we decided to just ask them to replace his order with the right one. The server completely tried to act like it was OUR fault! And said "you should have told me you wanted that!" And he DID. He ordered a p2. Not a p1 and he said it very clearly. We waited about 5 minutes and after she brought him the "new" pho with rare steak, we quickly realized she REUSED THE OLD PHO and they had fished out the other pieces of meat. There was still pieces of tripe, and the broth was cold and had all the bean sprouts and toppings he placed in the old bowl. He was so grossed out still seeing tripe in his bowl but just to avoid problems he sucked it up and ate some of it. We paid and left. This still is not the only incident here. On Valentine's Day we ordered takeout and when my boyfriend went to pick it up, the SAME lady told him it was all set and he took our order home. When he got home i quickly realized she forgot to place our broth in the bag. When i called to ask if we could have our order comped next time since the main part of our order was missing and we live 25 mins away from the restaurant, she tried to BLAME US and say he forgot the broth! My boyfriend would have noticed a massive container of brother sitting next to the bag if it was there. She completely lied and then later said "oh maybe i just forgot." Another incident happened with THAT SERVER when my boyfriends mother went to eat with her parents and husband. They brought out everyone's food except his moms. When she asked where her food was the server said "you didn't order anything" and completely denied that she ordered pad Thai. She then had the nerve to ask "do you still want your food?" This woman tries to blame EVERYONE ELSE for her mistakes! She should not be a server if she cannot remember that the customer IS always right. I have worked in customer service since i was a teenager and I'm just so annoyed and irritated with this woman and her attitude, i will never go back. It's a shame because the food is good. But be prepared to have horrible service. read more

I went there for a late Saturday lunch with my adult son during their soft opening period. It was a very pleasant experience. There was only one other couple there when we arrived and we were very warmly greeted by the entire staff of young, but eager servers. We had tasty appetizers: dumplings as well as chicken wings. The pho here is very good! I have tried pho 99 and pho dollar, and I do like this one the best. The noodles are chewy and soft and the broth is flavorful. Have eaten here several times and tried a number of things. The broths are tasty and flavorful, both beef and chicken, and we've never felt like we didn't get enough in them, whichever thing we tried. We've had many of the appetizers, many of the soups, and pho, as well as some of the entrees. Portions are large and prices are reasonable. The only critique, if you want to call it that, was that the pad thai seemed bland to us. One thing they have that we really like is a great sauce and condiment bar in addition to what is on the table. We haven't tried the hot pot yet. It's a newer place and some of the servers were obviously still learning, but they've all been very courteous and immediately respond if you ask about anything. Would definitely recommend it.
