Over $200 in film developing into negatives

I received helpful, friendly guidance & service when I brought in a large quantity of really old 35 mm film to process into negatives. But when I picked up the negatives and asked for help to view the images so I could decide which ones were worth printing, I was ignored and brushed off for another customer behind me. Then the young lady said VERY rudely: 'I'm helping another customer!' and while that doesn't sound so terrible, it was somehow really upsetting & I got so rattled I had to leave. I did say that I paid them over $200 for the film processing & was hoping to get a little more help. Then I said I was really upset and was going to have to leave without making my order for prints, if they couldn't help me. They offered silence, rather than help, in response. I was frustrated because I couldn't see the images with the light table they offered, so I was just asking if there was a better way to deal with it. Plus, I had this huge role of negatives that kept falling on the floor and I couldn't figure out how to handle them. I paid a little extra to go to this place because it is a small local woman owned business. I'm sure the owner and many of the employees are great, but I just can't go back there because of this one bad encounter.

Best photolab in Berkeley! I love the flexible film drop off process here, fill out the intake form and drop it into the slot in the front entrance. I usually receive my scans in 3days or so. Never had an issue with any wonky development! Prices are pretty standard - $7 for developing color 35mm film and $8 for scans, pro-tip they are running a Yelp check-in promo of $13 for dev+scan, so save yourself a few bucks :)

I was very happy with getting my film developed here. There are a few places around the Oakland Area to get film developed, but I came here because of their $13 check in deal. I filled out an intake form and the worker there took my credit card to put it in their system (they don't do Apple Pay or have a chip reader, you're charged once the film get processed). I got ample help and was very happy with the nice worker. When I was here, I was hoping to get some film as well but they didn't have my favorite 35mm stock due to the film shortage. I got three rolls of film developed here and all the pictures turned out great! The scans were high quality and I love the colors. Turn around time was about 3 days, which was also amazing. I received my photos via a shared drive link, which is great because I was used to bringing a USB whenever I get my film developed... a little inconvenient to have to pick it up again as well. Keep in mind, the link only works once. I tried opening the link on another one of my devices and it didn't work. I did already save the photos to my personal drive, so it was fine. I definitely will be back to develop more photos and hopefully get more film soon.

Had a friend recommend this place after I had a poor experience with a pharmacy development of a disposable camera. Reasonable pricing and great development. Use a proper film lab for development people.

Do they do same day or next day to develop a disposable camera? I will only be in SF over the weekend and was hoping to get a quick turn around for a disposable.

Hello, We do offer rush services for developing - however we do not currently do production over the weekends so we would need to have your disposable camera in to us by Friday 2pm for same day service. Thank you!

Hi- Do you convert 33mm to digital?

Hello Ivette, we convert 35mm film to digital, is this what you have? If it is a 33mm film we do offer flatbed scanning services as well so if you are not sure, please give us a call or stop by with your film so we can take a look.

Do you take and print passport photos? :D

No sorry we do no take passport photos.

Do you sell film rolls? I'm looking for Kodak/Fujifilm color negative film 200(35mm, 36 exp.) :)

Hi Lily, You are in luck. We are now fully stocked with Kodak Gold 200 and Fuji Superia 200 (3 pak). The Gold 200 is $14.49 per roll and the Fuji 200 3 pak is $39.99 per…

Do you develop and send through email/digitally?

We can develop and scan all film types and send the digital files to you via email. We use WeTransfer.com and you have 30 days to download your files. The download process is super easy and no cost to you.…

I have black and white negatives from 1979. Can you scan them? They are in strips of about 6 images to a strip, 5 or 6 strips. What would that cost?

Hi Michael, Yes, we can scan those negatives. It sounds like they are 35mm negatives and if so, we have various prices for scans depending on the resolution. If the negatives constitute one roll of film we will charge $15.00 for standard scans; hi…

Do you guys develop prints of disposable camera films?

Yes every day we develop prints from negatives from disposable cameras and every other type of camera. You have a big selection of borders and paper types or go with the most popular - matte paper, no border!

How much to make a digital scan of a 8x23" photo? Thank you!

Hi Andrew, From your description the scanning price would be an "oversize scan" for $25. Please write back or call if you have further questions (510) 644-1400 or…

Do you guys have gift cards?

Yes, right now we have gift certificates. Contact us by email (orders@photolaboratory.com) with your contact info, amount you want to gift and recipient's contact info. We'll set up an account for your recipient to use in store or online.

Do you perform in-house E-6 Processing?

You can bring reversal film to us for E6 processing. We send E6 processing to Oscar's Photo Lab in San Francisco via our in-house courier. There is about a one week turnaround.

How do I get a sample of the matte photo print?

I normally go in and ask to see there sample book.

    Can they offer scans only?

    Yep!

How long do they take to develop film?
