Stopped by for a comforting pho meal and ended up trying a variety of dishes. The egg rolls were crispy and flavorful, the avocado spring roll was fresh and a nice lighter option. Both made for a great start to the meal. For mains, we had the chicken pho and a large traditional pho. The broth in both was rich, aromatic, and clearly well-simmered with the large portion being especially generous. The banh mi sandwiches were also a highlight, perfectly crisp bread with fresh well-seasoned fillings. We also tried the grilled pork Bánh Bao, which was soft and slightly sweet with savory filling, something a bit different and worth ordering. Would love to buy one if they were for sale lol Came here around 3:30 pm on a Thursday. Didn't really get busy until a little after 4pm. The small pho size was the perfect size for me. I couldn't even imagine what the big size would have looked like lol. I chose the brisket and beef meatballs. The broth was so delicious, I honestly didn't need to add any of the sauces. I just added lime and bean sprouts to it, for that refreshing crunch. The brisket was tender and thinly sliced. The avocado boba is the best I've had! I have tried a lot of avocado smoothies from any place that has it on their menu. Not a lot of places offer it either. And if they do, they add way too much sweetened condensed milk. I also like that their boba is soft and if my taste buds are correct, it's taste like it's coated in brown sugar. Only thing I would say is the drink is served warmer than what I'm used to. I do prefer my drinks cold. As for the banh mi sandwiches. I've tried the pork and steak. Personally, I wouldnt re purchase the pork because it wasn't as juicy as the steak. The steak also had more flavor. But besides that, I enjoyed the crispy bread, fresh ingredients and they were not stingy on the meat. Highly recommend this place. I was shocked at how fast the food was served. We ordered and our appetizers were served and right after that was the bowls. We order egg rolls and dumplings. We also ordered the Creme Brulee (this wasn't a good as I'd hoped). The pickled daikon was the star of the show. WOW that is good! Everything was delicious! And the staff was so very nice. I didn't realize this was very close to Fry N' Wings. The parking is huge because it's shared. This is by far the busiest Vietnamese restaurant that I've ever been to. I never had to wait so long to get a table. I'm hoping it's not like this all the time. We ordered shrimp egg rolls, garlic butter beef banh baos, two build your own pho's with ribeye and beef tripe, soft shell crab banh mi, egg coffee, and Thai tea. Service after we got sat down, was quick and attentive. We got our food fast and hot. Overall 4.5 but I'll round to a 5. I would say this and Pho Ha will be my go to places for overall Vietnamese food. I would love to return to try other items on the menu. I felt that the prices were competitive with other Vietnamese places. If you thought this was expensive, then maybe American fast food will be up your alley? -shrimp egg rolls 5 - these were good. It comes with three. I like that they added some veggies to go with it, kind of even out the fried food. Crispy outside and moist inside. -garlic butter beef banh baos 4.5 - the beef was tender and juicy. I took off half because I would have liked more sauce throughout so that it's not dry when you take that first bite. The baos were soft and firm. -pho with ribeye and beef tripe 5 - I appreciate the generous amount of meat for a small bowl. My first time ever trying pho and I didn't know what to expect. From the outside, it doesn't seem like much, but when you walk in it's a cute, nicely decorated space with plenty of room and a boba bar in the back. We ordered an appetizer, two pho bowls, and a Thai tea. The pork bao buns were delicious -- the pork was flavorful and tender. The Thai tea had a great balance of tea and milk, and the flavor was really good. We tried one beef broth pho and one vegan broth. Adding a little of the sauces on the side definitely helped enhance the flavor. The chicken in my bowl was okay, just a bit dry, but the carrots and noodles were good. Service was good. Bloomingdale is a 40-minute drive for us. So we had to make the most of the trip and brought the whole family for an outing. We arrived around 11:30 am on a Saturday and there was no wait. We ordered and tried the following: 1) Shrimp egg rolls 2) Tofu banh bao 3) Small pho, beef broth, brisket, beef meatballs - We specifically order the pho for my girls and they both finished it without a single drop of broth left. 4) Small pho, vegan broth, tofu and mushrooms - Most Vietnamese restaurants do not have a vegan broth option. My mom is a vegetarian so this was definitely a surprise and ideal option! 5) Bun Dau Mam Tom - This can be a mess to wrap the fried tofu, steamed pork, rice noodles, and shrimp paste in lettuce. Everything went well together and the shrimp paste has a slight kick to it. 6) Soft shell crab fried rice - The soft shell crab is crunchy and came with a generous portion of fried rice. We had plenty of fried rice left. 7) Vietnamese iced coffee - My parents generally prefer the Vietnamese coffee hot however Pholicious only serves them cold. 8) Egg coffee - Rich and creamy! We did not try the banh mi but we did buy a bag of freshly baked baguettes to go. Each bag comes with three baguettes. If you buy one bag, it is $3. However, if you buy two bags, it is cheaper at $5. It's been a minutes since I've been here but it looks like they've changed their menu quite a bit. Their menu isn't extensive but still have a good number of dishes to choose from. I had the Grilled Pork & Egg Rice Platter/Cơm Thịt Nướng & Trứng. I loved it, very flavorful. It came with veggies and a bowl of soup! My wife had the pho with meatballs and she loved it as well. We tried Pholicious and had a great experience. There's plenty of parking, lots of seating inside, and the décor is clean and inviting. We went on a Saturday at noon and had no wait, which was a nice surprise. We ordered the pho, bún bò Huế, and the grilled pork rice dish. The food came out quickly, fresh, and piping hot. Really liked their banh mi, tofu was super soft and warm when served and they don't overwhelm you with sauces. The pickled vegetables were just the right amount of sweet and sour. Cilantro was very fresh also. I saw that they had salted coffee and had to get one. It's really good, in my opinion. So bitter, savory, creamy and thick. A bit too powerful after a few sips but after the ice melts, it's just right! I also loved that their lunch special iced tea is actually jasmine tea and not some cheap Lipton tea. Wow, everything went super super well. For starters ...from the greeting as you enter there was no wait time. We were seated immediately and the food was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed the chicken pho, also the appetizer was just very tasty. I also for a drink tried a mango pineapple smoothie and it tasted just pleasantly and surprisingly heavenly. The manager, Seth was very helpful very accommodating and just made the experience so so so wonderful. Only if I lived closer to the place, I would be there every day to enjoy dinner. Oh my goodness. If I lived in the west suburbs I would be coming here every single day. This is even better than past reviews. I ordered the garlic steak banh mi, and even though I had high expectations based on the previous reviews, this sandwich met and exceeded those expectations. I finally made it in to Pholicious, after a friend recommended I try the Banh Mi. I came in the week of Easter and I am still not eating meat, but I love that there are plenty of vegetarian and pescatarian options to try. The tofu bao bun appetizer was delicious with a nice sweet salty taste. Also ordered a shrimp spring roll and the accompanying peanut sauce is thick and full of flavor. The highlight of the meal was the fried egg Banh Mi. The veggies and fresh cilantro compliment the egg and the soft but crisp bread. I ordered a peach tea and it had a lot of fresh peach in it. So much, that it came up through the straw with every sip. A solid first visit. I'll be back after Easter, on a Wednesday, to try the pork belly Banh Mi - $6 sandwiches on Wednesdays! Dropping temperatures makes for the perfect time to go enjoy a piping hot bowl of Vietnamese noodle soup. We came in around 7:30PM and the server was able to quickly seat us and take our orders. I ordered a pho short rib which came with a giant rib. My mom ordered the Bun Bo Hue which was flavorful and spicy. Both noodles also came with a plate of herbs and aromatics. Pholicious serves up hot, piping Vietnamese noodle soup in the Western Chicago suburbs, with a lot of fame from reviews in the Chicago Tribune and other local media. Only had time for carry-out, but will be back for dine-in at the next opportunity. Most members of the family are not fans of Vietamese cuisine, so it was convenient that Pholicious was in the same strip mall as the Asian chicken wing place that we were getting carryout for a shared lunch. When I peaked inside a little after 1, there were people waiting for a table, causing the front of store to be crowded (since others were waiting for pick-up or in-line to place an order). It smelled really good inside, so decided to wait in line. I was able to place my order (Large special Pho for $16.50), and pay. It took a bit for the order to be ready (more than 10 minutes), but they knew I had been waiting and gave it to me by recognition...it had been packed with care, which is really a good sign. There was a snafu in the other restaurant, so it was over an hour before I was able to get home. First, the one serving of Pho was wrapped for carry-out just beautifully. They give you a very big plastic container (the size of what a large soup would be from a Chinese restaurant) full of beef bone broth. It was very oily and wasn't flavored very much. The thin rice noodles were put in a large soup bowl, then wrapped in plastic wrap, then the meats (tripe, ribeye slices, brisket, beef balls) were placed on top to separate it from the noodles, with the whole thing sealed with a lid. The thai basil, fresh bean sprouts, and jalapenos were in a separate ziploc bag. Finally another bag contained the sauces, including a small portion of chili sauce. None of the portions would be considered generous, but the presentation was excellent. The pho itself was OK, but it does want me to come back to try their other dishes. Next time. read more

It's a well lit, nice sized establishment. I was in the area for work, so of course I searched for my usual, Pho. I tried this place out, and my mind was blown! The broth is sooooo good ! I ordered the short rib pho and added brisket. The short rib was good, falling off the bone. But, the brisket was so tough I didn't eat it. I ordered the shrimp egg rolls. And they were perfect! -- I decided to not leave my review that night bc I knew I'd be back the next night. Well, I came back the next night and I can't say my experience was the same. I arrived around the same time as before. With less than an hour and a half to spare, to set context. However, they still allowed people to come in after me. Anyway, I ordered the same thing as the night before but without the brisket. -- The broth was still good, but I received less pieces of short rib and it was NOT falling off the bone. It was actually tough. The noodles tasted thicker than usual. And, the shrimp egg rolls were old. I assume someone ordered them but didn't eat them? I'm not sure. Very disappointing though. Taro boba $6 - They didn't have tapioca, which I didn't mind. The drink is an iced drink with good taro flavor. Shrimp spring rolls $7 - 2 rolls per order, fresh ingredients, come with a gallon of peanut sauce (ok, not quite, but more than enough). Originally I was going over Roselle and saw Vietnamese restaurant but they're closed on Tuesdays. That was a disappointment I discovered this place cuz I really wanted pho and some Vietnamese dishes. Service was pretty quick and delivering especially the all the dishes all at once between their version of Pho, the spring or summer roll as well as The Boba tapioca smoothie. I ordered the avocado mango for the smoothie. The smoothie was good but the texture of it is a bit too thick. They put it in an interesting container with their logo and a lid with a thick straw. I went a different direction with ordering spring or summer rolls instead of having the shrimp which is traditional I went for the sausage. I was hoping it was going to be like another place on you in the city the way they make their sausage spring roll. But it was not. It look like it was spam but didn't taste like Spam it wasn't salty. It was delicious and savory and the ingredients of green leafy vegetables and vermicelli was tasty. The broth of the pho which was supposed to be a northern recipe which I never experienced even going to Vietnam was delicious however instead of using lean cuts of beef it seems like they were using ground beef similar to hamburger which I thought was peculiar. That was the only thing I did not like in the pho. However the Brotg was very rich in flavorful. The texture of the broth especially. Most other Vietnamese restaurants the broth is either bland and watery or it's flavorful but watery this one had a little thickness to their pho broth. However I didn't like the fact that they put ground beef instead of lean beef. Four out of five stars because of that. A bit pricey in regards to their menu. If you've never had banh mi or if you've never been to Pholicious stop here. It's been recognized as one of the best bahn mi sandwiches in the area by food critic Steve Dolynski. The bread was crisp, the meats were fresh and the overall taste left me wanting to come back the next day for more. Don't just stop at the sandwich, try the pho and fried rice! Both were over the top. Better than any other place I've had either of those. For it being at Saturday evening during dinner hours, it was easy to sit right down. Friends would have liked some Thai basil or cilantro in the tofu spring rolls, but since I'm not a fan of either of those I really liked it when dipped in the sauce.
