We were greeted and seated as soon as we arrived by the nicest lady. After expressing to her that it was all of our first time there she recommended some favorites. All of our food was delicious and I can't forget to mention that we got Rangoon that was amazing for an appetizer. First thing the owners have their kid running around, the cook is also server wearing flip flops. I don't think they have ever wiped down the sauces or walls when dirty. Menu is very limited. I think only the wife and husband work here with their 4 year old running around. The wife and husband are very nice though but doesn't make up for the cleanliness of the place , food or service. The food is a 3 out of a 10. I do not recommend this place at all. But they are nice people. I hope they get someone to help run this place and make the menu and food better. My husband and I decided to stop at this restaurant on a whim. It was a half hour before they closed and they seated us right away. The food was phenomenal!! Everything was fresh and tasted wonderful!! My husband ordered a ramen stir fry and I ordered a fried rice stir fry, and we shared a bowl of the wanton rice noodle soup. We were blown away with how everything kissed our tastebuds! We decided right then and there this is our new favorite restaurant! I highly recommend it to anyone wanting an amazing meal!! read more

Not sure why ppl rated this place low. If they know real authentic Vietnamese they'd realize this is how it taste. The food is not doctored up like these other fake places. Indicative that these were made in house. Taste is good, but not my favorite. Because your strongest appetizer is the most AMERICAN thing in your menu. Fresh Rolls: It's bland... eating these by themselves should have a refreshing quality. Cilantro was lacking or if there was,, very minute and definitely needs cucumbers. There's this awful stench of a massive trash right outside the shopping center or once used to be a trash dump site in its previous life. There was no one manning the front counter at first, a minute later and woman came out and seated me with a menu. The hostess/waitress gave me several minutes to look over the menu, decided on the chicken pho soup, good litmus for a Vietnamese joint. The tables at the booth seemed dirty and had a film over the table, will be keeping my utensils on the napkins here. The broth wasn't bad, added the usual hoisin and sriracha to give to more depth and kick. The veggies are sparse, asked for more basil, bean sprouts and lime and received another small pile of bean sprouts and basil. The basil seems a bit old and brown. The chicken is charred and appears its pan fried before going into the soup and rather fatty on several pieces. Sounds like there's heavy metal raging in the kitchen, clashes with the elevator jazz music in the dining area. The food is average, nothing glowing about it. The hostess/waitress isn't the friendliest or warm but she will get you anything requested, she warmed up some as I cashed out. The plus is that there's a full breast of chicken inside the soup. It was $12.71 our the door for my chicken pho, a bit pricey, but I get it, priced to survive out here. Pretty disappointing. We order three phos and a bbq sandwich. The pho was awful. As my cousin puts it, it was like mostly noodles in a sea of msg. There were more noodles than there was meats and topping. Also, what's up with the lettuce and why are the bean sprouts slimy? The bbq sandwich was drenched in sauce. It was so salty I gave up eating it. Half way through the meal, everyone decided that they couldn't stomach any more. We all left pretty salty about our food being awful. If it wasn't due to the a long day of travel, we would have never stopped here. I wouldn't eat here again, even if the meal was free. Btw. I always enjoy trying new places especially scoping out new Vietnamese Pho restaurants. Came here based on a recommendation from a colleague. The place looked clean, well kept and new. The cushy seats and tables and booths makes for a pleasant dining experience. Even the bathrooms were clean. I ordered the veggie and tofu pho without fish sauce and they don't use MSG at all, plus a mango smoothie. It took a long time to wait for my pho to come out, others got their food before me, which I tried to understand because we came as a group and even the owner/server apologized because they were short staffed. The servers were nice and accommodating although the service was slow. The portion was adequate and the pho was very filling and tasted great. The price is okay for how much you get I suppose, yet I wish there was more bean sprouts, basil and a tad more amount for the price paid. The mango smoothie was awesome, next time I would like to ask them to omit the whipped cream. (That's the way we vegans roll...get it roll? Like spring roll?) But it was satisfying and a great dining experience although it was out of the area, not sure if I'll be in town again, but would like to try it next time, maybe with my family and see how the family likes the food here. We were in the mood for soup and a search for "ramen" led to Pho House. I was surprised to have missed this gem for the two years it had been open. I found it 5 star worthy. After playing dodge-em cars with mall traffic (I encourage you to enter off Eureka at the traffic light near the Meijers gas station), we entered this unassuming storefront. The menu had a nice variety of appetizers, ban mi sandwiches, pho, ramen, noodle stir-fries and fried rice. I had the House Special Pho. The broth was excellent with a good serving of steak and meatballs. Be sure to ask for the vegetables. The bowl is huge and plenty to take home. The Phnompenh noodle soup had plenty of duck and quail eggs. Between the two, there were 2 quarts of soup and noodles to take home. The fried rice was equally wonderful. The House Special had large chunks of chicken, shrimp, BBQ Pork and Sausage. It was melt in your mouth amazing. Again, a nice portion size. Service was very good and we had no problem getting her attention for water, condiments, napkins etc. A great spot near the mall. You will not be disappointed. read more

I loved Pho House. The gentleman (who I think runs the place) was very nice about educating us on the different menu items. My friend got the rice noodle soup and she loved it. The broth was subtle, flavorful and almost sweet. I got the crispy noodles topped with veggies and meat, and it was SOOOO good. I can't really describe the savory sauce other than addicting. It's a huge dish and I ended up eating the whole thing. We split a blended frozen drink that tasted like iced Thai tea, mixed with little boba balls (not sure what they're called) that burst with juice. I'll be back for that for sure. The pho taste plain and the cheese Rangoon is strictly just cheese with no crab or nothing. When I eat it the cheese was literally dripping and created a mess. The chili oil was weird for me, maybe because where I come from, chili oil is chili with oil and it's red. The chili oil they have is yellow and not spicy at all. The place was quiet it was a Thursday night, the was waitress is really nice and informative. The place is small and clean. This is not a good place for large crowds. I am so disappointed. I wanted to love this place but I just can't. I ordered take out from this restaurant I got the vegetable pho and fresh spring rolls. The spring rolls were small, had fried tofu, a sprinkle of lettuce and a small punch of noodles. They were well wrapped and I didn't have any leakage haha. The peanut sauce was quite good, but a tad salty for my liking. If I was going to go back I'd get these again. But that being said, I won't be going back. The pho however. Maybe it was an off day? Maybe COVID got the best of them? I don't know. The broth had zero flavor and after sprucing it up with Sriracha and hoisin...it ... still had no flavor. It was basically the water they defrosted the frozen vegetables in I think. It was very pale yellow and seriously looked like the water from stealing vegetables. (tasted like it too) Oh ya the vegetables (zucchini, carrot, cauliflower, broccoli) were all clearly frozen prior to being added to the soup. Mushy, flavorless, and sparse, it was horrifically disappointing. The tofu was fried before being added but for some reason (and I eat a decent amount of tofu) it was sour/tangy (and not a tang from being marinated). I can only assume it had been sitting for too long in the fridge. The noodles were well cooked and bouncy. And there was a decent portion for the serving size. The side of bean sprouts, basil, jalapenos and lime had been packaged for a day or two too long. The sprouts were slimy and the lime dry. The jalapenos were actually serranos (beware for those that are sensitive to spice). There was also some rogue lettuce in the bag with the basil which both seemed fresh enough. Overall I took about four bites and ended up trashing the rest. I am by no means a food waster, but I'd rather grab fast food over this. read more

I want to be fair with this review because the manager/owner is a genuinely nice guy who is just trying to be successful and please the local yokels that aren't familiar with the beauty of Vietnamese food. Let's talk about the pho. The pho broth, which seems to be one of the major gripes from most, was actually pretty good. It was a touch on the sweeter side, but it had a good flavor and aroma. The meat was another story. I ordered the pho with all meats (sadly, they don't offer tendon or tripe on the menu) and there really wasn't much meat and they left out the meatballs. Bummer. The onions were actually sliced a bit too thick, as well. This seems like a nitpick, but if they're sliced too thick, the broth will not cook them, which leaves them raw and crispy. Also, they don't serve sprouts and basil on the side because the locals don't like it(?). Imagine my surprise getting a plate of romaine lettuce leaves with my pho. I was dumbfounded. The owner did advise that sprouts and basil are available on request, but it was too late by that point. Be sure to ask for it. I also got the bbq pork bahn mi, which was fantastic, but the roll was burnt. That's really my only complaint outside of no pickled radish with the carrots and no sliced jalapeno, but the sandwich was still tasty. The manager was nice enough to comp the sandwich due to the burnt roll. They actually have a pretty expanded menu compared to some of the other Viet restaurants in the area, and I would probably try one of those other dishes next time. I was disappointed to hear that one of my other favorite Viet dishes, bun bo hue, is served without the blood cake and pig knuckle (sounds weird if you're not an adventurous eater, but I love it and it's essential to the dish for me). Also, I didn't see peanut sauce offered as a dip for any of the rolls, which made me sad. I love a good peanut sauce. All in all, an ok experience made better by a kind, attentive manager/owner who cares about your experience... to a fault. I think they need to stand firm on their traditional food and the locals should just go get some Panda Express if their sensitive tastes can't handle new food experinces. If anything, I would recommend finding a better, cheaper location downriver with more parking. If you make good food, the people will come and adapt. You should not have to adapt to them to stay afloat. I can sense there's some good traditional food to be had here, but there is something holding it back. That makes me sad. read more

Never has Pho before and simply had to try it. Decor is lovely, staff is very kind in front and back of house. I had the Beef sliced pho and my mother had the spicy beef noodle. Be warned the Spicy is SPICY!! But we messed around with the hoysen sauce at the table to help. First we had the crab Rangoon!! Best I've ever tasted!!! It was crispy and so hot and def house made!!! The dipping sauce is phenomenal and I def will be doing carry out orders of those!!! My soup had a sweet taste which I wasn't expecting. For some reason I thought it was gonna be super savory. The beef was sliced thin and perfect-only thing is there was quite a bit of large onion. Probably half an onion in large chunks. But big enough to pick out so it's not overkill. My mother's was super spicy and she loves spice!!! She said next time she will get mild and build flavor at the table. However after using some items at the table it made it where she could enjoy it without having lips burning. Huge portions!!! My goodness!!! Had enough for 2 days later! The place is nice, I've never actually eaten in, I always get take out. When I got the spicy beef pho it was "ok" the meat was a little tough but I will surely try it again someday. Excellent! I got the crunchy noodles with shrimp and veggies. Easily enough for two people. I took half home. They were not stingy with the shrimp, either. Came with an onion soup that was amazing and kind of like pho without the noodle. Topped it off with a Thai tea flavored bubble tea. Best bubble tea I have ever had. While many come with gelatin type balls that you chew while drinking, these melt in your mouth after an explosion of juice bursts out of the bubbles. Wow! Heard about this place from a friend. My husband and I were very excited to try this place out since we had to drive all the way to Madison Heights to have good Pho. This place was alright. The place is super nice and easy to find. Parking might be difficult when busy since there is other shop around the restaurant. When ordering we had our usual that we wanted to eat. We ordered a an order of the spring roll, bahn mi, crab ragoon, and bun bo hue. The spring rolls were alright but the sauce was not your ordinary peanut sauces. Some people might like it but the sauce wasn't for me. The bahn mi had all the components and was probably the best thing we ordered. We enjoyed how light that the crab ragoon was, however, just did not have much crab meat in them. The bun bo hue was the item I was super excited about but did not live up to my standards. The broth had the taste but the meat that was served with it was ddisappointing. This restaurant really needs to work on that if they wanna live up to the pho standard that most people expect when they hear pho restaurant. The service was great and the waitress was friendly. I would recommend this place to people who have never have had pho and want to try it. Great new place in South Gate. Their banh mi, as most reviews prior to this have noted, is pretty excellent. I think their pho is pretty damn good too. I was reading the first couple reviews and I think the discontent most people expressed were concerning the expected growing pains of any new food establishment. Is it the best Viet food in MI? Surely not. But is it good enough to have this native Los Angelino coming back for more? Absolutely.
