Super cheap was able to get 3 rolls and two miso soups for $22. Just moved into a new apartment and had it delivered. Fast delivery, packaging wasn't the best. We stopped in after the dinner rush with friends a couple months ago. The place was fairly empty. One lone sushi chef. A waitress with so many kandy bracelets that I thought I traveled back to 2003. A lot of LED light fixtures. The server was young but very friendly. A little forgetful. We had to ask a couple times for things like miso soup or chopsticks or our bill. Miso and salads took forever after ordering. It set our expectations for the visit. I checked my Google Timeline and it said we were here from 7:21 until 9:12. Two hours for a basic sushi meal with no fanfare. Once we finally received our soup, we waited for our rolls. And waited. At least we were with friends and could laugh about it, but it took almost an hour for our sush to come up in a pretty slow restaurant. And this wasn't a complicated order. Four people, about 10 rolls total, ordered exactly as they come on the menu. The server kept coming by to say it'd just be a few more minutes. Over and over. Once received, everyone seemed to agree the rolls weren't great. I wasn't impressed with the flavor or the construction of the two I ordered. A couple others on the table fell apart. One was served with fish sauce, even though the menu didn't mention it. Overall, sloooowwwwww visit. Okay food. Friendly service. I'm not Downriver often enough anymore to know if this is the best in the area, but it's not anywhere near as good as my favorite sushi place in Dearborn Heights -- Oyaki. read more

I tried this place on a whim because a neighboring sushi restaurant was closed, and I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. The service here was prompt and streamlined, and the staff was exceedingly polite. The décor and aesthetic are charming and simple, not overdone or pretentious like many sushi places. Sushi Q focuses on good food at a fair price with expedient service, and they achieve just that. If only every restaurant had this same code of ethics. The Macdonalds on Washtenaw Road in Ypsilanti Michigan is a perfect example of how NOT to adhere to a mission statement a restaurant works hard to enact. In 2016, just a few days before Christmas, this Macdonalds wouldn't sell me 10 Big Macs at 4:15am even after I tried to coerce an employee to make them with a $10 bribe. I'm pretty sure that part of their interview process is to ask potential employees if they dislike making Big Macs and also if they hate freedom, and then hire people that do both. I am thoroughly disappointed in that Macdonalds, for it is nothing like the Sushi Q experience I have grown to adore. read more

Let me scratch out the past experience and let me tell you about my most recent one. It was definitely super fabulous! A few inches short of perfection sort of speak. This is totally my go to restaurant for Korean dishes. By far one of the best SoonDoBu I have ever had in Michigan. Specially the fact that fall season is upon us gets me more and more excited about this restaurant even more. The sushi here is pretty good as well, but I really think that their cooked Korean dishes outshine the rolls and nigiri. Since last time I was here, the service has improved by leaps and bounds. No more delayed food items, the host and waiters seem to be in sync now. Definitely a refreshing thing to experience since last time we walked out due to the lack of it. This spot is definitely one of my favorite restaurants downriver. I would come here again and again and again because the food here is top knotch. Also a few korean dishes. Seemed overwhelming. Food: i was excited for shumai. But it arrived kinda cold and it tasted like mush. White mush that i paid 7 bucks for.. We got a ginger salad and miso soup complimentary. Miso soup was good. The salad was odd. The ginger dressin was mayo based and reminiscent of coleslaw on top of lettuce. Ordered 6 rolls total. Spicy Tuna was super spicy but good. The yum yum and delta roll had a spicy crab salad that seemed tasteless. The james bond roll was a fancy california roll that was decent. But my Philadelphia roll had salmon that still had skin/membrane on it. San Francisco roll was equally decent. The shrimp that topped my roll was chewy. The sushi was About the quality id expect from a higher end buffet. Not an independent proud owned establishment. Price: 53 dollars. I would rather go somewhere else for that. Service: a lot of times, this can save a place. Sadly, not here. It took 50 minutes for our sushi to arrive after ordering. We had 1 napkin we shared thru out the entire night. The entire night.... First let me start with the positive: sushi was fresh, warm, and neatly packaged for carry out. They had a huge section of sushi, sashimi, and other dishes too (entres as well in case you don't like sushi). The negative: not exactly a huge negative, just more of a personal preference. I love salmon, but the fat on the salmon (the dark brown/gray meat) is unappealing to me. Either you love it or you hate it. The taste is fine, but I always eat around it if I see it. For presentation reasons, I would do without. American sushi is different from true Japanese sushi, so if you love a ton of eel sauce and spicy Mayo, you'll definitely love it. I prefer the "less is more" approach so I can taste everything in the roll. But maybe it was just the roll I ordered. I would give them another try! read more

I didn't hold back I pretty much let him have anything he wanted. He just pointed out pictures of things he saw that he wanted. Was craving sushi and this location had great reviews so we ordered some carry out. Sushi pretty good, got 3-4 of their rolls from basic to special. Along with the sushi we ordered Galbi which was ehh the meat was pretty dry. And The portion was very small for a Galbi dinner along with no sides besides a small little thing of kimchi. Galbi always comes with many different sides, so definitely got jipped there. Be careful on the bill. Was quoted one price over the phone and when I got there I had a higher price. We have been loyal Sushi Q patrons for years, after yesterday we will never be back. The "waitress" took our order.. then was hiding in the restroom for 20mins the food was made but never given to us, once it was served my food was slimy. I did eat a few bites as I was starving after being there now for almost an hour and also needing to get somewhere else. I asked for it to be taken off the bill and just pay for what we did eat and now this so called waitress wouldn't cash me out, finally when she did she said oh this credit card machine isn't working I need to use our other one .. and BAM guess who has fraudulent charges on their account today ..ME. Absolutely disgusted and sad more than anything as my family loved this place. Also two other tables had also walked out before us due to getting their food cold after the 20 min bathroom session and stating how terrible food/service has been recently. I never complain and understand short staffing better than anyone but you have a lowlife thief working there which will probably end up putting you out of business.
