    Sushi rolls

My husband brought me here before we went to see a movie and told me it was his favorite childhood sushi spot in the area. We ordered several sushi rolls and chicken katsu to share. Everything was fresh and very good! The chicken katsu was perfectly crispy and the curry accompanied it well. The main thing I have to thank Black Pine for is their incredible service! We came in on an evening when they were busy ahead of making it to a movie, and they were awesome in getting our orders made and served in such great timing. We really appreciated it and look forward to visiting again!

Delicious!!!! Absolutely hands down the most authentic Japanese food I've gotten my hands on in years!! I got the pork katsu curry, which comes with miso soup, and my fiance got the fresh roll and a hand roll! Great choices for everyone, even people who don't like sushi. I'll be trying the yakitori next. Our server was great, blonde woman (I didn't catch her name!) and the vibe was great in there. We will be back.

It was first time here and had the most amazing sushi! Service was pretty good Definitely recommend

Oh my gosh I LOVE this place. My partner took me here on a whim, and it is definitely turned into one of my favorite sushi places of all time. The staff is very kind and attentive. The sushi is fresh and has wonderful complex flavors. I'm big on raw fish so I will vouch for their rainbow roll, it's excellent.

The service was excellent. The Obama roll was very good. My Bulgogi was OK but a little too sweet, and no garlic taste or spice. The Bipimbap was very bland. The place is almost lile a diner setting. I would return for the Obama roll.

I usually go to Sushi Q that is just down the street. However, I decided to give this place a try. I love to try new things. However, trying new things doesn't alway pan out like we hope it would. I was not impressed with the quality of sushi nor the service. The sushi wasn't to the same quality that I am used to getting at other restaurants in the area. The inside is pretty small. And there was a long wait time. Overall, I wouldn't avoid this spot at all costs however, I also would not go there on my own choosing. There are so many other better options in the area that offer superior service and food quality. However, if you're not that familiar with sushi you won't really notice a difference in quality. So that is an explanation for the mixed reviews you can see for this particular restaurant.

Obama Roll - huuuuuge roll and yummy for a fried roll.

First time ordering here and got carry out! Seems like this sushi spot does get very busy (usually a good sign). I ordered on a Friday evening and the wait was over an hour for food, so plan accordingly on the weekend if ordering take-out here. I ordered 3 rolls: Obama, Sakura, and a basic salmon+avocado. They do have sake available to buy as well but were unfortunately sold out of all when I placed my order. The rolls themselves were pretty decent - not blown away by any means but satisfied my craving for sushi. Need to give them another shot for dine-in as they have a pretty large dine-in restaurant and let's be honest...cooked rolls are best ate immediately out of the kitchen and not the best when you have to drive it home first to eat. :)

My boyfriend and I have a Thursday dine out date type of the routine every week. And he is craving for sushi. We have been many suchi places. And didn't expect another one not far away from Allen Park. This place is popular and of scale. Busy business and foodies enjoying the food. There is a short line and waited for 20min or so before we sit in. The obama is made of sticky rice and fried. I like this novel idea and really like it. And the firecracker is also surprising with crispy crab meat on the top. What is amazing that after 4th piece, I am already full! Amazing!

It was incredible. Absolutely everything was amazing. I requested not to have Uni as it would be wasted on me and they accommodated the request. The complimentary sake tasting was a home run. I had to stop at Total Wine for a bottle of it. Each piece was prepared and explained in front of us. There were other diners at the counter and we watched them prepare other orders for the house too. Some many things looked so good. I cannot wait to go back. It was definitely a great experience for a special occasion. Not a hurried event either. Sit back and relax. Enjoy the service. Multiple seatings a night but booking is recommended. We were lucky and got in last minute as there were openings.

I haven't done the full omakase experience but I have had sushi multiple times and can say it's great and the ambiance is fantastic but it has its faults. The sushi deluxe which I ordered tonight was filled with redundant cheap cuts of fish. The salmon was delicious but most of it was mid white fish. It came with a salad which I really enjoyed and was packaged nicely. The workers are lovely and try hard but need to be educated more. To be clear I am blaming this on the owner/manager. They should do a crash course on sushi for everyone that works there. Regardless I would happily go back, it's really excellent sushi and the rice is perfect.

The ambiance of the restaurant is honestly top tier with the real flowers and candles on each table, aesthetic consistency, along with their round turning table perfect for large parties. These are the things I've tried from there: Orange chicken: 7/10 (and only because it's not my favorite dish anywhere, I just tried a bite of someone else's but it's good and has fresh mandarin in it; it quickly became my dad's favorite dish there) Pork Larb: again and again 10/10 I could eat this everyday Sesame chicken: 8/10 (not the best of the best I've tried but still very good) Kick boxing chicken: 10/10 Sticky rice: 10/10 perfect with my Larb Thai tea: 10/10. the best Thai tea I've had in Michigan. The mango stick rice was excellent, and enough for four people! Quite the value. We'll try more from the menu here for sure and I'll report back on the rest!

The best way I can explain it, it is, an experience. It's meant to be enjoyed with family, friends. We started with Green Tea that came in a beautiful tea pot and cup set. It was ecstatically pleasing. We ordered a lot and enjoyed sharing. What we selected from the menu with the help of the amazing staff. Wonton Soup Enough to feed three. A gently refreshing broth. My husband and I both got the birria ramen and for context we get from Habibi's Birria which is more lemony and it's what I was expecting personally. This birria ramen to both my husband and I was a 2.5/5. The ramen is on the spicier side which isn't noted anywhere (would have been fine if I had known but the menu is a bit misleading) and then the meat was on the tougher/drier side even though it's literally soaking in a soup. Tapatio's premade ramen which has Artificial Beef Flavor tastes better lol My cousin said her Mongolian beef was a 3/5. The issue is hers was veryyy salty for her which saltiness is expected but we don't want it to be that bad. Seating is "bar" only so not ideal for groups but there is outside seating if it's not cold. They were helpful in deciding what we want but as soon as we ordered the girl left and the guy who made our food disappeared so when we wanted to ask for more lime we couldn't. Anyways overall disappointing. Would not recommend or come again but it wasn't awful to the point we didn't eat our food.
