Mannnn lemme tell you something!!! The lobster Cigar appetizer had me almost full just eat two pieces! It's delicious and full of flavor and fresh! Everything was splendid. I like the interior and size of the restaurant. Not too many people can fit in there so it definitely gives you more of a small group dining experience. And you definitely feel tended to by your waitress or waiter which we love. The food was very affordable. This is our new GOTO sushi spot.

Chef James has left the place so sad, same great food with a mega wait time . Had a Avocado Ball OMG Delicious . A side of house made Kimchi n Crab Sticks . She had the Chicken Bento Box. Great Sweetest Day they didn't have a clue why so busy. Yes a full house Tiffany doing a fantastic job taking care of everyone. WTF did our food take 45 minutes, who dropped the ball, seen 12 tables order received food and left before ours. Totally unexpected will never ever step foot in place again, been a dozen times. New owner and crew of 5 cook's need training by Chief James, need to find his new location. #thesushibartaylor @the_sushi_bar #avacadoball #crabsticks #kimchi #bentobox #longwait #wontbeback #downriverfriendseat

Awesome good served by awesome staff! Kids bento box was a huge amount of food for the price. All the sushi tasted great. Loved the novelty of the adult capri sun with flashing ice cubes. My spicy Korean soup had the perfect spice level- very spicy! Tons of tofu but could have used a little more seafood. Be aware it is a very small restaurant and it was freezing next to the front door. Also the cooked entrees came out a long time after the sushi so order an appetizer. Next time I am trying the Vegetarian Omakase because these chefs know what they're doing!

This is still the best sushi joint in Metro Detroit. My wife and I come about once a month and it is always a treat. Chef James always treats us like family, the wait staff is generally prompt and always trying to be attentive. As the restaurant continues to get more popular and busy they continue to keep up it seems to me. The place is clean, pleasant, and always a joy to visit. Thank you chef for your continued excellence and I look forward to visiting again soon. Oh ya, the ramen is fantastic. I don't know when it will become a full menu item, but when it does treat yourself!

Open until 10pm tonight. Ordered an avocado ball with crab inside only, jalapeño bomb and a lobster cigar, popcorn lobster special roll, Cali crunch roll, MSU and a UofM roll. $87.13. Pricey here too. Egad. Hope the food is worth it. They said it would be about 30 minutes. Food wasn't quite ready when I went inside. Had to wait a bit longer for the food be ready. 8 Tables inside and 5 counter seats. It's a bit cramped inside here. I watched the mad frenzy of food out to the table and the carry out orders too. I received a call almost 10 minutes later that chef James forgot the avocado appetizer in the carry out container. They asked if I could return. I said no way, I was too far. I asked if they could just refund the money. They said that they could refund amount. Then they called me back less than a minute later and told me they are making it and will run it out to me. A nice gesture but rather inconvenient for me. I had to wait by a 7-Eleven at Greenfield and Rotunda for them to bring me the missed appetizer. Would have been much easier if they had just credit me the amount and just let it go. Now I am waiting for the one missed appetizer while the rest of the food gets cold. They were at least quick to run it out to me in about 15 minutes or less. Although at this point my food had 25 minutes to cool off by now. The popcorn lobster special roll is okay. The UofM roll was not what I was expecting. I missed the seared tuna when I read it on the Yelp link. Had to remove the seared tuna since neither of us eat fish unless it's fully cooked. The MSU roll was decent. The avocado roll was okay, nothing special about it. The jalapeño bomb and the lobster rolls were pretty good, as was the Cali crunch roll. Those were the 3 better of all of the items consumed tonight. The food and rolls were generally okay, but nothing outstanding. The customer service is quite good here. I will give them that.

Love roll, Wonder, Salmon Roll, Shrimp tempura roll and Cali roll.

We've eaten here a lot and we are creatures of habit and order the same food but tonight was try something different and tonight we had the Godzilla roll, monkey brain and salmon on the beach. Everything was great. The salmon on the beach by far my most favorite roll anywhere. Roll has cream cheese, avocado and crab mix wrapped in rice with a broiled baked flaked chunks of Scottish salmon drizzled with a honey bbq sauce. Absolutely Devine. Go get ya some !

So this place is fairly new so they do not have a liquor license yet but however it is still worth it to come here even if you can't have a drink. I ordered the Miso Soup and between the 3 of us we ordered a bunch of rolls: Godzilla Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Fuji Volcano Fire Roll, Rainbow Roll, Mushroom Roll, and I cant remember the other rolls but I will say each one of these rolls were phenomenal, this place is very much worth trying.

My wife and I stopped in based off the recommendation of my brother-in-law. Glad we did! Ginger dressing salad was awesome! We got some of the classic rolls (spicy Tuna and yellowtail), 1 naked roll (911) and a signature roll (I am sorry honey). All of the rolls tasted extremely fresh and were scrumptious! Also grabbed a tempura appetizer that was excellent as well. Also, the staff was wonderful! Chefs were making jokes to the patrons and Kim was an great waitress! Will definitely be back and recommend!

The service was very slow they are super nice but very slow. The food is good but over priced. A lot of places have the same food for lower prices. I got the chicken teriyaki bento box. And the green tea. It's bagged not freshly made tea. Just something to consider.

Love this spot. I stop in or order for takeout like once a month for lunch at work. The sushi is fresh and delicious and the staff is so friendly. Definitely recommend trying it.

This particular location…read moreis essentially a counter located inside of the Trentwood Farms grocery store but has everything that you expect out of a delicious Italian bakery. I believe they are related to Luca Pastry (same owner?) , which was a surprise when I picked up a business card and it listed both Tony Cannoli and Luca Pastry. No wonder I like both of them so much! I always get the cannoli here and usually one or two other items. This time I got: Italian/Sicilian Cannoli ($2.75) - The only difference is the topping studded on the ends of the cannoli. The Italian has chocolate chips while the Sicilian has ground almonds. Regardless of type, the shell is fresh and has a good cookie crisp, while the interior is filled with a ricotta cream mixture that is sweet, decadent, and very filling. The cannoli aren't made fresh to order, but I doubt they keep them in the case for longer than the day they are made considering how good they are every time. Eclair ($3.50) - The eclair has a thin chocolate ganache layer encrusting the top that melts easily in your hands. Underneath there's a thin shell of choux pastry that is generously filled with Bavarian cream. The cream is smooth and rich and not too sweet. Delicious! I especially love the Cannoli Paczki they have every year near Paczki day. They didn't have them yet when I went, but I will definitely be back soon to get some. If you're looking for some delicious sweets, give Tony Cannoli a try! Edit: I went back to Tony Canolli in February to pick up a Cannoli Paczki, this time to compare against two other bakeries in Metro Detroit. Cannoli Paczki ($3.25) - The ricotta filling is delicious as always. Sweet, slightly tangy, rich and dense. The mini chocolate chips studded in the overflowing filling is a nice touch to really tie down the cannoli twist. The paczki dough felt the most industrialized of the three places I tried. It felt kind of like commercial brioche - very uniform with what seems to be a decent amount of dough conditioner and stabilizers. The taste of the dough isn't nearly as developed as my top choice (New Palace Bakery). It also felt like the dough was maybe a little dried out, perhaps sitting out for a while in the display case. To be honest, I probably wouldn't have noticed some of these characteristics if I hadn't been doing a direct comparison and instead was eating this in a vacuum. Overall the paczki is still good. It's just not the best of the best.

Love Letter A confession from a…read moredairy addict with no plans for recovery When I was little, I lived with my grandparents in a house that still had a milk chute by the side door. Some of my earliest memories are of Gram accidentally locking us out. She'd give me a leg up, and I'd clamber through that tiny door like some pint-sized action hero. Without fail, I'd crash into the brass umbrella stand and send it tumbling down the basement stairs, which sounded like a car crash. But after landing in a heap, I'd pop up, fling the door open, and beam like Fievel finally finding his family and fitting into his giant hat. Now, Calder's might not be sliding bottles through chutes anymore, but they will still deliver to your doorstep: milk, eggs, butter, the whole wholesome package. This is a lifesaver for my 96-year-old Gram, who doesn't exactly "pop into Meijer" the way she used to. Downriver might not be a postcard neighborhood, but Calder's honestly dignifies it just by existing. But let's get real: I'm here to talk about the eggnog. This is not your run-of-the-mill jug. It's eggnog with the viscosity of wet cement and the caloric density of my future regrets. It's one of the main reasons I'll never hit my "target weight," unless that target is simply "rotund." Here's the thing...I have a dairy problem. When I was a teen, I once complained to my doctor about my loud stomach. She suggested I give up dairy. I laughed directly in her face. Given that I'm usually pathologically polite, that was basically the emotional equivalent of slapping her. If my family ever staged an intervention and gave me an ultimatum, dairy would win, and it would be the loss of a pretty good family. My addictions, in rough order, look like this: 1. Dairy. 2. Buying stuff I don't need (but swear I'll use). 3. Caffeine. 4. A practiced devotion to the unattainable (sigh/fml). 5. Hoarding premium gel pens like they're rare Pokémon. So yeah, Calder's doesn't just have a customer for life. They may very well end up as the surprise beneficiary of my estate someday. Picture it: a modest inheritance left not to wayward relatives, but to the cows themselves...my final act of dairy philanthropy.
