They could use a massive dose of customer service and how to show your customer some respect. We went there to sell some cards we had doubles of and/or were not in need of anymore. The gentleman at the buy table had the personality of a toaster. He was so disrespectful whether we were being judged because we didn't have the knowledge of some pen protector wearing patrons or due to the fact we were not there to play but sell. He snapped at us for asking a question so we just quietly watched waiting to be able to break away. At last he was done and we thought we lucked out only to be not greeted by a gentleman at the cash register only to be asked you do have an I.D. correct? Oh lord did these two get picked on in school and now take it out on anyone who doesn't look the part. We definitely will not go back and the cards we were gonna buy I would rather pay double then deal with two misfits with attitudes who judge their customers. Apparently all are not equal when it comes to collecting their cards. read more

I'm going to try and be as fair as possible as I know that working in a LGS especially servicing and helping MTG and Pokémon customers is probably exhausting. This store is located a block away from me so for singles it's not too bad. Yes, it's not the best price but I don't mind spending it local. The people behind the register are always nice and willing to help. Now the trade in counter service is rough, it's just not with people you'd want to be talking with or they just seem to be bothered by their job or just by speaking to people. Again, the counter service and employees are great. I just wish the second half was just as good. read more

I visited Phoenix Gaming Lounge looking forward to spending the day buying and trading Pokémon cards, but instead left feeling completely unwelcome. The employee helping me was dismissive, rude, and made me feel like my business wasn't valued. For a hobby that's built around community, this was incredibly disappointing. After reading through the one-star reviews, it seems many first-time customers have had similar experiences, with multiple people describing an environment that caters only to regulars while newcomers are treated like an inconvenience. That's a shame, because no customer should leave feeling worse than when they walked in. So I play Pokemon and am a Judge for the game and have been playing or judging at different stores throughout both sides of the valley and from a players perspective I cannot recommend this place. Not only do all the staff look miserable and aren't helpful "do I look like the Pokemon guy?" But judge who runs all of their tournaments for Pokemon specifically is genuinely awful. Every time I've played here I've seen him have a problem with someone and not fulfill his roles of upholding the rules and sainting the spirit of the game. Also he just genuinely doesn't know half of the rulings and is googling them as he goes. As a player for Pokemon specifically do not play here. 1/5 As a customer I have less problems and their selections are ok but their prices are genuinely awful. Everything is at market or slightly above so it's hard to justify buying cards when other stores within a 10 min drive offer below market prices or you can use TCGplayer.com to get the same prices here or cheaper and delivered to your house. Also their sleeve prices are pretty bad. Most if not all distributors have the recommended MSRP as 12 and where other stores in the valley will sell at 12.50 or 13 they are selling them for 17. Can never find anything Pokémon, but when you find it and it's on their shelf, they don't sell it to you. Kind of a shitty fucking thing if you ask me! And it's not like it was the last one there was plenty on the shelf. I'm tired of these card shop saving their cards for their players when you can't even get into Pokémon because the fucking players get to come first before the person that comes in to actually buy the motherfuckers if you're not gonna sell product, keep it off your shelf and keep it in the back so no one sees it it's bullshit read more

DONT LISTEN TO THE 5 STAR REVIEWS !!! I hate writing negative reviews but honestly this place deserves it. I have been here twice to try to give them a second chance after my first experience was just as bad. The staff hate anybody that isn't a "regular" or their friend, upscale the prices that what they say, and give attitude worse than a toddler. I take my toddler here with me and my husband and my toddler is more well mannered than the staff. Asking questions, getting prices, and checking out at the register is as if it is the most inconvenient and disrespectful thing ever to them. They act so inconvenienced whenever we ask to grab cards out of the displays. My husband and I thought it was just maybe one staff member that would be rude but truthfully IT IS ALL OF THEM. They give off a "high and mighty" and cocky demeanor as if customers should be glad to spend their time and money here. I recommend to take your money elsewhere. Complete shade to this shop but I highly recommend going to Gamers Guild instead for better service, better treatment, better in house gaming, and just overall better everything. read more

This place is great if you want to give money to employees who have no respect for you and couldn't care less about how they treat you!! I've been going around az to different card shops for a long time, I've been to most and this is by far the WORST one I've ever been to. The workers seem like they want to die and hate your entire existence. There was absolutely zero good customer service through the 3 employees I talked to about pokemon cards. How is it that not ONE of the employees at this place seem to want to be there? They were all either rude or completely disinterested in anything I had to say or ask for. Absolutely horrible and I will never return; I'll also advise other fellow card shop explorers to never come here. Give your money and business to other shops that actually deserve it and ones that will appreciate you in their shop! read more

I pass by this place all the time driving down Central and I finally stopped in this past weekend to help my partner find some Magic the Gathering cards. The staff were all very friendly and helpful in finding the exact cards he was looking for. They also had a great selection of games and an area of already opened board games for you to preview before you buy, such an awesome concept! Honestly this place is a diamond in the rough. I truly wish I could give more stars; Things to Note. Unbelievable collection and selection that is perfectly catered to the player base. Rarely is there a fail to find and often from cool rare and obscure sets. PGL has really spent a lot of time cultivating this for the store and community and it shows. The player base here is incredible; In a community known for a lot of toxic behavior, and general saltiness this does not come by accident or chance. The friendly tournaments, events, and attention to the needs of patrons is what makes this place truly unique. Other stores and companies should take note, this is how you create a positive and inclusive gaming environment where every single day feels special and where you can connect with people who love this hobby the way you do. Staff is unbelievable. I can go on and on about how many positive interactions I have continued to have but no words can describe how kind, friendly, excited, and helpful they are constantly. I love going to PGL. I have been there several times both on Friday Night Magic, and on other days for casual commander games. I always find Josh and the staff both friendly and welcoming. They have a wide assortment of sealed card as well as individual cards. I also love their nice large play area. Another major perk for me are the food and drink options. As someone with severe diabetes, having the ability to have more control over my blood sugar is important. They also have clean restrooms open to the people playing games there. Overall, I am very happy with Phoenix Gaming Lounge, and use it as my home gaming store for all cards and events. read more

They made sure to keep up online posting on Facebook and a discord server during quarantine for awesome deals in general and FNM for MTG. There's a pretty awesome selection of MTG singles, sealed products, accessories (card boxes, storage, playmats, dice, etc.), as well as some Pokemon stuff, other board games, and DND stuff, too. I bought my first dice set and playing mat there. The owner and employees have been super friendly and honest. I've never felt pressured to buy anything. The Phoenix Gaming Lounge is an amazing store. The staff and owner are so nice and friendly. I only come in every once in a while but they remember me. To be honest without a store like them I likely wouldn't still be playing Magic the Gathering but the owner always sets a fair price for his products. I have never left feeling like I didn't get a great deal. I haven't had any negative interactions and find the space welcoming and inclusive! Nice people play there. There is a large variety of games to play but it's mainly a card house for magic and other games.

I called this location to ask for the Mystery Booster boxes and they said they would be in Friday around 2. We were told we were not allowed to reserve said boxes as well, so we planned on coming early to get them as soon as the store got the shipment. I come at 1:30 on Friday and see a male walk in and the walk out with this exact box. We walk in and ask the male working if we could purchase said box and he said they did not have them in yet, but they should get this around 2. We went back out to our car and sat there until 2:30. Around 2 the same male worker walked out of the store and around the corner, then walked back into the store, seeing us outside. When we walked in at 2:30, the worker said "I just checked the messages and it looks like we got them in yesterday and sold out". We asked when he would be getting more in and he said they shouldn't for another two weeks the soonest. On the Facebook page, it said yesterday (Thursday) that they would be getting more in soon. He apologized and we left. Wasted about an hour of our time, not including driving, and somewhere along the line that man lied to us, not sure if it was about the supply he has or when they sold out, but this is poor management and unfair service. Will not be coming back and I don't recommend trusting the store for their word. read more
