I was in search for a specific primer for a sculpture I am working on and he was able to also give me a recommendation for something that might do a better job, as well as some suggestions for other materials to consider for future pieces. This year I am trying to really commit to shopping locally for things and I'm glad to find a place that has much of what I need for decent prices. I called ahead of time to find out about model ships and the owner was helpful and answered all of my questions. As a first time shopper for my aunt who enjoys this type of hobby, they had a variety of items such as military planes, tanks, battle ships, and subs too. I enjoyed the display of all of the models to look at as they had many types of cars, trucks and more. And you thought we only drove long distances for good food....nope. After several failed attempts to find small models at other stores in the Phoenix area, we arrived here. And by George, we found stuff to make Mr. B happy. (Son doesn't know it yet, but we got something for him too, so don't tell.) Plastic models. Airplanes, ships, cars, tanks, plus puzzles. A nice little store with just enough fun stock to get the imagination going and the itch to do something with your hands. And a great place to bring the kids and intoduce them to model building. You will find a whole range of skill levels. In the back they have tables set up. Today there was a bunch of guys and one young boy getting tips on building. A cool way to spend a Saturday with your kid. Yeah....special bonding moment! My great find? A little robot bug. About one inch long with lots of little legs, runs on a watch battery. And...it glows in the dark. He is selling them 50% off right now, so not sure if he will carry more once he is out. But I got mine. I am not sure if I will share with the cat or grandson Drew, but I am sure they would get a kick out of it buzzing around and flip flopping. Mr. B's finds? He will be building a plane (Avenger) and a Russian tank in his Man Cave once we get home from our vacation. That should keep him out of my hair for a good while. You will find a very friendly owner with quite a fascination of planes and tanks, who loves to chit chat. And if he does not carry what you want in stock, he has catalogs. read more

The owner was very helpful and friendly. Even though his shop is currently closed due to the COVID-19 he is still doing business through curbside delivery. Dick worked with me through text, email and over the phone to make sure that I received the perfect product for my hobby needs, and it turned out to be far more affordable that I had expected. Hobby Depot was able to get me what I needed when Michael's and Hobby Lobby could not. I turned to Hobby Depot because I have heard nothing but good things about this business. This is my first stop whenever I need paint or want a new kit to build. Years ago, I took my dad there, he was semi-paraplegic and wheelchair bound... the owner took the time to help us find something that my dad could build with his limited use of his hands. The gentleman that owns this store is very unprofessional. My son took an antique train engine he received from his grandfather into get it repaired. After calling several times to see if it was repaired. They LOST IT!!! they didn't say sorry just offered to replace it with a new one? WHAT? So we chose another train set worth $200. THEN. took another (I know we shouldn't have) engine in and they didn't even work on it after having it for a month. I went to pick it up and the OWNER asked what kind of train was it? You mean it isn't under my name? He was put out after having me interrupt his lunch which is in the counter of the store and his eyes reading the computer. He was rude and uncaring not "I'm sorry or just a minute ). I am in the customer service industry and have been for 30 years!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I was told by 2 other valley train specialist that this man was a thief and unethical. I find this TRUE in every sense of the words. This is a nice hobby shop with a modest selection of balsa, bass, and ply woods. They are heavily into scale trains and they have very good customer service. They also have a good selection of models. The shop is really easy to find with plenty of parking. read more

I've been going here for years. They have the best range of paints in the valley. They carry a wide range of Vallejo, Tamiya, and even some Gunze (Mr Hobby) paints. If you can't find it here you'll have to find it online. read more

Staff here is nice. This is a classic shop in the tempe area. I typically build car models or gunpla. Prices are fair for the most part. I wouldn't say that this place stocks gunpla regularly which is really unfortunate for me. I had come in after they announced that recent releases would be stocked. There were maybe 10-15 options but they were pretty much all gone by the end of the week. They do, however, stock some nice additions such as action bases for good prices. A plain black action base was about the same price as amazon prime so can't argue there. I would love to see more gunpla here in the tempe area. read more

It's a great hobby shop that has a wide range of products relating to hobby trains, plastic scale models and a plethora of paint supplies from Humbrol, Tamiya, Model Master, Testors and Mr. Hobby among others. It's the kind of hobby shop that harkens back to the days of saving your money as a kid, and spending it on kits. They also have trains in various scales and supplies for hobby railroaders too. They're knowledgeable about the hobbies and supplies they stock. It's a family owned business. There is still a need for the brick and mortar stores, especially when you are trying to find a particular color of paint and need it today. Highly recommend them to all hobbyists! read more

A great place for model kits and model paints/supplies. Their selection is enormous -- especially their supplies selection -- they have full racks of 8 or 9 different brands of paints (I stick to Vallejo). I go mainly for Gundam kits and their prices aren't marked up like many other places. The staff are always very helpful (but quite): whether it is answering specific questions about paints or techniques, recommending other places to get supplies that they might not have, or pointing out model kits they just got in but haven't hit the shelves yet. But I think my favorite part is that it just feels like a hobby store. read more

This is the best "model" store around. They have greatly increased their stock. Wether you're building a kit or scratch building, they either have it or will get it. Can't get any better than that.
