After a few days my wife and I started not feeling well. As we started to look closer around the unit we noticed multiple locations of mold in the bathroom walls and living area ceiling. Rust in the dishwasher along with rotted/swelling cabinets and flooring not finished with gaps and cracks. Going into this units we understand imperfections and wear and tear. As far as mold and rust, totally unacceptable especially at the rates they charge for the facilities.

I called to check on how to use the putt putt activity. Another young voice said "you just putt the ball on the grass and hit it." I laughed, "no sorry i need to check out equipment for it right?" She said, "you can look at it first if you want." So I responded, "do you have putters and balls that i can use?" She said, "yes". I responded "how do i do that?" She said "its free to use." I asked "where do i get the equipment?" She said "at the desk". I get to the desk and they tell me "i must leave my driver license to check out equipment." Beach vacation rental done right! We just finished a week long stay here. Love this home! The…read moreowners really had the right plan from the layout to the appliances- everything. One of the big pros to this place is the common half bath. We rent homes every year and are surprised to find 6 bedroom homes with no common bath. We loved that this home has one and that it was very near the back where the pool is located. The bedrooms- all very nice with comfy mattresses. All are upstairs except one master suite next to the kitchen. All have a TV and most have ceiling fans! Bathrooms- all very clean and updated. Only the twin beds and bunk beds share a bathroom. All other rooms have a private bath. Kitchen- great open floor plan with ability to cook for a large group easily. Cooking appliances, pots, pans were all nice and plentiful. Bonus- the owner supplies plastic cups! We had small kids so loved being able to use these and take them to the pool. Another bonus is the ice maker!! Love that!! Dining room- one of the "cons". The dining room is too formal and hard to access for sit down meals. Plan on eating buffet style sitting at the counter in the kitchen or living room. Upstairs "sitting room"- a plus but hard to really make good use out of- the sitting room doubles as a common hallway for all the bedrooms upstairs. I wouldn't recommend using the sleeper sofa here unless you like to tip toe around someone. However- if you have to do a sofa sleeper, it is nice that it isn't in the main living room on the main floor. The view- not great of the ocean, and mediocre view of the bay. Outdoor grill- hard to use due to the gulf winds. It is permanently set, so you can't move it around to a place with less wind. However- the grill is very large which makes it very nice when cooking for a big group! Pool- So. Awesome! There are sitting ledges built in so you can relax with a cocktail and enjoy the sun! There is not any shade however- so bring lots of sunscreen. A shade tent fits nicely and does the trick. Downstairs refrigerator- an added bonus since a lot of the groceries for families using the home won't fit in the one upstairs. However- this room is gross. Huge mildew problem with visible smelly mold. There is a big sofa in this room that I can't imagine anyone sitting on- too smelly! Laundry- great appliances with easy access on the main floor. Stairs- plan on a good workout. There is no easy access if you have trouble with stairs. Screened in porch- very nice. Ate breakfast there a few times. Overlooks the bay side. Beach access- not too far away, but invest in a cart or wagon if you stay here. The beach is very private- not crowded at all! There is also a wildlife refuge area next to Laguna Key that makes it less accessible to public beach traffic. There are LOTS of shells on the beach that are a little different than typical that make shelling a fun activity too! Laguna key Pool/tennis courts- we didn't have a chance to use them, but they are well maintained and look great. Bay side dock- well worth the walk! There is a long boardwalk not too far from this house. (It isn't well marked and is so close to a home you wouldn't easily find it). My son loves to fish and spent hours here fishing. It's a great place to take pictures, read a book or just relax- they have a few benches on the dock and a covered area with benches as well. Location- secluded! Plan on a long drive down the beach. This is about 6 miles to any restaurant or shop in Gulf shores. Parking/Garage- spacious! You can easily park a vehicle inside and protect it from the elements. The drive easily fits around 4 vehicles. It is on a cul de sac in the complex so a great place for small kids to ride bikes or other toys. All in all this rental is great! Kudos to the owners! Great setup!

Overall this place is nice but there are little problems throughout. Their wifi is fickle. As of…read moretoday their elevator inspection license is expired. There is only a DVD player in the living room which means parents traveling with young children that are sleeping on the pull out...no movies just cable. Cable doesn't have a lot of basic stations. Only one cartoon channel and that's only cartoons part of the day. If you're traveling with young children (like us with our two year old) the place were in all all glass tables and coffee tables (can be dangerous, not a biggie tho) and no light switch in this entire place turns on what you think it should. Took me two days to figure it out. Overall this is a decently priced place on the beach with a nice pool but when traveling with young children you might want to think about it. Might stay again but not this particular condo.
