I've never felt so blatantly dismissed at a restaurant. When I came with my family, the staff took our order almost immediately--menus barely closed and they were already at the table. But when I went alone, everything changed. I sat there for 15-20 minutes, menu closed, clearly ready, and they still ignored me. I was in the booth right next to the cashier, so it's not like they didn't see me. It genuinely felt like being a solo diner made me low priority. And the difference in how they treated me? Night and day. With a group, they were friendly and attentive. By myself, it was like I didn't matter. Then the food came, and somehow it got worse. I ordered the pork vermicelli, and the meat was cold, hard, and tasted like it came straight out of the fridge--almost frozen. Every Vietnamese restaurant I've ever been to warms the meat, even for cold dishes. This was just careless. Overall, the experience was disappointing, disrespectful, and honestly embarrassing. We have closer pho places to my house but we go here regularly. The people who work here (I think family owners?) are wonderful and remember you and are clearly running around constantly (they do a lot of take out) but never ignore sit down customers at all. I come with my three little kids and they have no problem doing the pho without cilantro or without onions or both, and will give you empty bowls for sharing and scissors for the kids' noodles. They also have both high chairs and booster seats. Now that they know us decently they stop to tease and chat with my 4 year old and she feels special going there. I get the P2, don't ignore the brisket here, it's significantly better than other pho places', the crispy fried roll, and the iced coffee with condensed milk, which they generally make strong to even out the big glass of ice. It's all so good that I haven't explored more of the menu, but I get too excited about the pho to even try. read more

Setup at the entrance is a bit weird. There seems to be a space for a greeter, but, on this night, eat-in patrons basically stood awkwardly at the front until acknowledged by the one guy handling the entire front of house. We were directed to sit at a table for two right against the window. It was quite dark as that table has no lighting above. We ended up changing seats so that we could actually read the menu, and all was well. As mentioned, 1 person was working the front of the house to direct guests to seats, take orders, run out food, turnover tables, etc. It made for a little bit of waiting to get his attention-on a Friday night when 15 of the about 20 tables quickly became occupied. Fortunately, we just got the pho, which isn't something that takes much time. Even so, the other non-pho dishes seemed to reach their intended tables in a reasonable time, also. FOOD: We got the p-12 and p-13. Steak, flank, tendon, tripe and brisket, flank, tendon, tripe, respectively. $13.25. The broth was pretty good and it was served hot with all the usual condiments on the side. The serving was a nice size-enough to take 1/2 home, and they contained a generous amount of meat. The server responded affirmatively when we asked if they had Thai iced tea, but we received something that more resembled Thai pink milk with boba. Bathroom was spacious and clean Be aware, the ending hour is supposed to be 8pm-we left about 10 minutes prior to that and 1 table was warned that the order needed to be placed in ASAP before the chef called it a night. read more

Walked in randomly while I was in the plaza shopping for shoes on this frigid afternoon. There isn't a hostess stand anywhere on the premises and the employees were in the back so I had a seat at an empty table. A man comes out from the back area and says loudly from the other side of the dining area "excuse me how can I help you?" Everyone who was in the restaurant then stared at me. It was honestly a little embarrassing because I'm sitting at a table so clearly I'd like to order food. I thought about leaving after that but decided to stay. Every other server was super nice. I ordered the fried spring rolls with the P9 (brisket, flank, fatty flank). The spring rolls were 10/10. Easily one of the most flavorful I've ever eaten. They were piping hot and burnt my tongue so I dropped a small bite on the floor but it was so good I almost wanted to invoke the 5 second rule. The pho was delicious with lots of protein. I paid $25 for the two items, plus one canned Pepsi. The inside is clean and comfortable but if you go in on a chilly day sit as far away from the door as possible. The server said he was working the tables alone, in addition to kitchen staff. I ordered the grilled pork Banh Mi. It's a hoagie with the sweetly seasoned pork with vegetables (carrot, cucumber, parsley, jalapeno slice) on top. I ate mine and wished I could either have a second or a side of some sort. Pho Viet HOA on Welsh Road, Willow Grove, sits in the middle of a modern strip center right next door to an Italian restaurant; one of the beautiful things about the melting pot we live in. Its modern utilitarian decor makes room for a dozen tables along both walls, with enough seating for social distancing in these Days of Covid. Service was prompt and efficient, with a suburban smile. The menu was primarily Vietnamese as would be expected, but also delved into a broader culinary universe found in neighboring Asian kitchens like Chinese and Thai style noodle dishes. I ordered Veggie Fried Rolls as an appetizer, Wide Noodles with Veggies "Wet" in a light brown sauce, and two Banh Mi sandwiches, Grilled Beef and Pork (for family take out). I hesitated on their Pho based on the luke warm reviews from respected Yelpers and the price compared to favorite pho houses in the City, which were a few bucks less. The four Veggie Rolls and dipping sauce were very good, crisp and full of real chopped veggies, and not just cabbage. The garnish of daikon and carrot were a nice touch. The large plate of fat noodles was supplied with ample broccoli, carrot, onion, mushroom and sprout, but lacking in spice. My mistake for not requesting lemongrass be added, but I squirted on Sriracha from the table rocket to compensate. Not precisely the flavor profile I hoped for, but decent enough to satisfy. I took half of that home. The uncompromising winner were the Banh Mi consumed by the family later in the evening. They were both stuffed with excellent roast pork and beef, cucumber, daikon, carrot, cilantro and a tasty mix of hot/sweet sauces, all barely contained in fresh (if not exactly French), rolls. Baguettes would have been near perfection. Compared to what we ate the week before from another Vietnamese/Thai house, this was Blue Ribbon. So, go for the Banh Mi for sure, perhaps not for their specials noodle list, while the jury is out on the Pho. I wouldn't hesitate to give it a try as long as the sammies were the primary focus. P.S. Pho Viet Hoa is a really authentic Vietnamese restaurant that I recommend going to. Their menu has authentic summer rolls with the pork and shrimp. It is definitely a no b.s. kind of place. Both the beef and chicken pho is okay, not my favorite. The meats were very good though, tender and flsvorful. It also has one of the cheapest pho prices around. The Vietnamese iced coffee is great for coffee lovers who appreciate black coffee. Also, I really like that they have papaya salad. Would be even better if they have lotus root salad. read more

This place has a problem. It's the management. On the weekend it inexplicably closes at 8:00. It seems that it closes at 8 because the waiters/staff want to get home. This causes a jam around 7:30. The last 4 times we've been here the wait staff has made it known we were "late". Our most recent visit, the pho came out at the same time as our appetizer, the fried spring rolls/. Neither were hot. It was extremely disappointing. The quality of the pho and other entrees are okay. On our most recent visit both my companion and I noticed that MSG feeling in our face. Generally though, I have not had a problem with the food. However, the atmosphere is stressed and it's not a nice place to eat. I simply do NOT recommend. Will not be back. read more

The only suburban Pho place I have found that offers as many toppings as typically found in the city. Everywhere else has Americanized their pho to the safe options; meatballs, cooked round steak, brisket, flank. Some places add tendon and tripe and offer the round raw.
