Two great dishes we don't normally encounter at Vietnamese restaurants in the US: Ban Xeo (Vietnamese crepe) and Ban Beo Chen (Steamed rice cake with sweet dried fish). Both were outstanding. We are out-of-towners (Florida and Wyoming) and had an interesting drive from Over-the-Rhine (OTR to locals) on Queen City Avenue westbound through a very historic area to Cheviot (I believe that is the neighborhood where Pho Viet is located). We arrived right around lunch time on a Monday. The place was empty, but there were many take out / delivery meals filled while we ate. The restaurant was quite cute and clean. We started with Chả Giò / Egg Rolls - Eggs Rolls (with ground pork and garden greens). Served with sweet & sour sauce. They were quite good. We both had Pho. I frequently travel for work and this time I ended up in Cincinnati, Ohio. After an exhausting day of work I settled down into my hotel and I was starving! This was my first time in Cincinnati and I was excited to see what food options were nearby. After going through the vast options I decided to go with Pho Viet. Seemed to be the only Vietnamese place close to me so why not? Let me tell you I was very impressed! I ordered the papaya salad - it was alright, I wouldn't get it again. Fresh summer rolls - SO TASTY! I appreciated how they made sure to wrap them individually so you're not tearing them apart once you pick one up. Came with a nice peanut sauce too! Egg rolls - Who doesn't love some egg rolls? Pho Viet does em pretty good! Love that they give you lettuce to wrap around the egg roll, they also provide a sweet chili dipping sauce yum! Lastly I ordered the Com Tam (broken rice with pork) - One of my favorite Vietnamese dishes so I'm happy they made it scrumptious. It's great to see a Vietnamese restaurant on the west side. I called my order in, but when I got there I saw that you normally order at the counter -- they don't have table service. The restaurant with small but clean, with enough table options so that you can sit down and enjoy your meal. The food was mostly good. The boba tea was excellent -- I had the matcha tea with mango, and the little pearls at the bottom just burst in your mouth with fresh juice!. The bun thet nuong -- vermicelli with pork was good, with tender pork and fresh vegetables. I wasn't fond of the egg rolls. The spring rolls were good, but they scrimped on the shrimp. I ordered the Pho Ga (chicken) & Tofu/Veggie spring rolls (Bi Cuon Chay). For myself, this $25 well spent will span across two meals. Everything was carefully wrapped (many items double wrapped), which I appreciated as I ordered via Uber eats. The food trekked 30-40 minutes with zero spillage. It feels as if everything is made & packaged with both diligence & care. The tofu in the Bi Cuon Chay was marinated & cooked to perfection. The peanut sauce was delicious, worth noting though that a little bit goes a long way as it is quite flavorful. The Pho Ga was fun to personalize of course, & the broth was still hot upon arrival. Toppings included bean sprouts, basil, cilantro, green onion, white onion, jalapeño, & a sriracha/brown sauce mixture. I added extra sriracha from my fridge as well. I could not stop eating the Pho... the broth was delicious to sip on, especially with the extra sriracha I added. I highly recommend giving Pho Viet a try - I can't speak for the ambiance in person, but the delivery packaging was noticed and appreciated. I'd imagine this exemplifies the service you'd receive. Giving it one of my rare 5 stars. Had Pho and a iced coffee. Both are worth the trip. The Pho compares to that at Pho Lang Thang and the iced coffee is the best I have ever had. Prices are expensive. $15.50 for a tasty bowl of noodles with a few slivers of beef is on the high end, despite the quality and good flavors. We went there at 6:30 in a Saturday night and there was no one else there which is always a clue. You order at the counter, but she gave us menus so we sat down and tried to figure out what to get. Nothing was terribly exciting. Most of the pho options used rare beef which didn't sound appealing. I ordered the chicken pho which had tough chicken and lackluster flavor. We also ordered summer rolls which are sort of like spring rolls and were ok. My boyfriend ordered a pork dish and the meat was grisly. Also the tv wax turned on load ti the news. The order taker girl turned it down when I asked but halfway through our meal another employee turned it back up. Disappointing. read more

Well well well. Funny coincidence, my favorite Pho restaurant in DC is called Pho Viet. And now my favorite Pho restaurant in Cincinnati is called Pho Viet. Lol. Anyway, we found this location and decided to give it a try. It's a bit far out of the way for us but regardless everything we had has been so good that it's worth the drive. I do have an issue with something though. I HATE to be this guy but I had to give 4 stars due to the expensive price for what you get. I've found this spot to be much more expensive than even the other Pho Viet in DC. All that to say, it's good and I'm happy to find it whenever we need our fix. I can't tell you how disappointed I am in the West Side community, that I ate at this place well over a year ago with a client, who's Asian American too, and this place had some reviews already. It was as good or better than famed Cilantro of the McMillain campus corridor that didn't survive the pandemic. Really, this place makes Vietnamese approachable too, they also have fresh squeezed orange juice, they have Vietnamese coffee that might as well be from a REAL coffee shop instead of Starbucks. Three of us went there on a Saturday night, noting only forty-some reviews was a big surprise. And we were the only ones there from going on 5pm until when we left at 6:30 when there were several carryout orders plus maybe one table. But compared to eating the same Chinese food from the same ingredient supply chain, the authenticity here is unbeatable. Why is it in Westwood while campus is swarming with sushi coated in slop-sauce? Anyway, I have a soft spot for this store. Like in the movie About Schmidt where Jack Nicholson goes back to small town Nebraska where he grew up, and finds his boyhood home has been paved over by an Auto Parts store. The website wasn't fully loading, but we were able to find other pictures of menus online and figure out what we wanted. We got bun, bahn mi, spring rolls and Vietnamese crepe. The first time we looked for the restaurant, we could not find it. It is in a strip mall and, after we looked at a map, we went here for a late lunch (about 2:30.) No one else was in the dining room. You place your order and pay at the counter. They bring out your food in disposable dish ware. We shared an order of spring rolls and really liked the peanut sauce with which they came. The Pho was quite good, with lots of flavor in the broth but not many noodles. It had a reasonable amount of meat. The bean sprouts, pepper, basil and lime was served on the side so one could add as much or as little as one wanted to the Pho. My husband had a noodle dish with Brisket that was considerably more filling than my Pho.There were a number of different sauces on the table so one could make the meal as hot or spicy or sweet as one withed. My husband tried the different sauces on the table and was happy with his mixtures. We liked the food but each entree was in the $15-16 range, to which one added drinks and egg rolls. The cost added up. It felt odd to pay as much as we did for lunch and eat off disposable dishes. That is why I gave them four stars. read more
